So this marks the first time I've "updated" a Yelp review. While SCCA would in theory top the list…read moreof places I'd most want to upgrade to a HIGHER rating, its scheduling department's ongoing incompetence once again caused enough stress and inconvenience today to warrant this downgrade to just one star. Quite frankly, I'd give the scheduling department (at least the one I'm stuck dealing with) ZERO stars if given the option. In my 10+ years as a patient, I've communicated with almost as many schedulers -- and perhaps one or two of them have been good at their jobs. The one working when I first started treatment was so bad that after I once vented about her on a support board, a local person PM'd me to ask if I was talking about S***; she knew exactly who I was referring to (even though I didn't name names), and said the lady was notorious for her poor communication skills. Well, at this point, I actually MISS that ten-years-ago scheduler. At least she never flat-out lied to me -- unlike the one two years ago who said it was ok when I questioned why my routine CT scan wasn't scheduled (see previous review), only for me to find out several weeks later, on the day I received the results for my bone scan, that yes, I DID also need the CT scan (which I then had to have at the last minute, and wait an extra day to get results for -- as if regular "scanxiety" isn't bad enough without being made worse by lazy schedulers who can't be bothered to follow up on valid patient concerns). After that 2018 incident, you'd best believe that I let SCCA know how I felt about it. I was then given some empty promise by Patient Relations that it "wouldn't happen again", they'd "communicate better", blah blah. Because I'm a forgiving person, I thanked them and decided to let it go. I still have to initiate setting up all my appointments, despite always being told that the schedulers will "contact me" (and I'm actually ok with scheduling things myself; I do so on a regular basis with my GP's office, which has a specific portal for this, but apparently SCCA isn't yet that advanced. But why bother claiming that the schedulers will "contact me"?). Still, things were more or less fine, until December of 2019. That's when I contacted my onc's current scheduler to set up my every-three-months Lupron injection, which I knew was due in January. She responded within a reasonable time frame, and told me that the shot was scheduled for 1/4. Right away, I noticed that this seemed too early; it's been made very clear to me over the years that these shots should be given every 12 weeks (though there is about a week's worth of flexibility; it doesn't have to be 100% exact). But my most recent injection occurred on October 21st; and it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to see that 10/21 to 1/4 = not 12 weeks. It should take about 30 seconds to actually make the effort to count (or check a calendar, for crying out loud) and see that officially it's only 10 weeks and 5 days. I emailed the scheduler with my concern. I pointed out that it seemed too early. I gave her the specific date of 10/21 as my last injection, so she had that information handy. Two days later, she replied; she mentioned the week's flexibility and said (and I quote; see attached) "it is okay for you to receive on 1/4". I knew it still wasn't quite even 11 weeks; and I certainly hadn't forgotten the incident two years ago. However, I decided to give this person -- who, after all, is paid to be thorough and accurate, and not make mistakes -- the benefit of the doubt and not question her further. I mean, I shouldn't need to be in a position where I'm asking "ARE YOU SUUUURE?" each time a member of my so-called "care team" relays a message to me. Especially not AFTER I'd handed this person her own error on a silver platter by pointing out the early date, and given her ample time and opportunity to follow up on and fix the error if needed. Fast-forward to today, January 4th. I don't blame SCCA for running behind, and for waiting until 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment to send me back to a room. I DO, however, question why they waited until after I'd been sent back and had my vitals taken, to inform me that they couldn't actually give me the injection today... Because it was too early. LIVID doesn't begin to cover how I felt after hearing this. While lazy and irresponsible of them, I'll forgive SCCA for not bothering to call, or at least tell me when I checked in, that I wouldn't get the shot today; at least the infusion nurse who gave me the news seemed genuinely regretful, and made a visible (and appreciated) effort to help. There is NO excuse, though, to be flat-out lied to and misinformed AGAIN by a scheduler who can't be bothered to do her job. It's infuriating. It's ridiculous. And SCCA's patients deserve better. I'll close with a line from my first review -- In short: I'd suggest looking elsewhere for treatment.

However, I wanted to take the time to write this review to recognize the compassionate care she received here. My wife's primary RN was exceptionally caring, empathetic, and personable. She took the time to engage with my wife beyond just talking about her treatment. More importantly, she was genuine. She wasn't just going through the motions. She really cared about my wife. It made sense that we later saw her plaque on the wall for an award she recently won for providing such great service... and we made sure to nominate her again. We also truly appreciated the kindness of our doctor, the two ladies who manned the check-in counter, our nutritionist, our social worker, etc. Lastly, we loved the views of the lake from the waiting rooms and the free food/drinks in the nutrition areas on each floor. There were minor negative aspects here and there, as with anything. For example, there were a few times where we had to wait at the pharmacy for 30 to 40 minutes for meds. But overall, we are grateful for the kindness and compassion of the staff here.

I chose Dr. Marosan because he was supposed to be one of the best. He charged top-tier prices (around $9,000), and I thought paying a premium meant getting exceptional care and results. Instead, I was tricked by flashy marketing and walked away feeling completely deceived, and quite honestly traumatized and in a worst state then when I went in. The surgery was supposed to be straightforward, yet I ended up with a crater deformity on one side and visible scars around my areolas -- which were promised to be "virtually invisible." The consultations were cold and rushed, with little sense of genuine care or connection. The before-and-after photos on his website are also very deceiving. They're taken in different rooms with different lighting, and the after photos are in a cold room, making the nipples hard so results look tighter than they really are. It's misleading marketing, plain and simple. I felt like I was just used the entire process to help promote their business. After surgery, I was still completely out of it from anesthesia.The staff wheeled me straight out to my girlfriend's car and pretty much dumped me into the passenger seat. I came-to halfway home. I had no idea where I was and just started to cry b/c I was so frightened (and probably b/c of what my subconscious just witnessed happening). Two weeks later, I noticed a crease forming in my right areola. When I brought it up, I was told by Dr. Marosan to "rub Aquaphor on it." That was the only advice given. A year later, nothing had improved. Too much tissue had been aggressively removed, leaving an uneven, sunken appearance on one side. The scars were still VERY obvious. All of this from a simple procedure. I am not overweight and did not need a massive amount of work done - just the glands removed behind my areola due to adolescent gyno. To make things worse, I discovered my before-and-after photos on his website with a fabricated story claiming I was thrilled with the results. None of that was true. They used decieving before and after photos invented a completely bs narrative about my experience (maybe they're allowed to do that considering I signed everything w/o reading the small print). But I'm allowed to write an honest review about my side of the story here and I hope people read this! So much of my experience at this clinic was straight up unethical. I tried multiple times to reach out. emails, voicemails, phone calls, and got no response. The one time someone picked up, I was told he was "out of town," and the call ended there. No follow-up, no accountability, no care. All of this for $9,000 for a simple procedure from a 'master, experienced plastic surgeon who has done 1000s of these surgeries'. I really expected a simple outcome. Instead, I got deformity, neglect, and silence. I'm sharing this so others know what I wish I had known: the marketing and promises do not match the experience. Dr. Cochran has been my physician since 2017. By the time I found Dr. Cochran I was sick as a dog and had zero answers. Right off the bat Dr. Cochran listened, and actually looked at my medical history...for more than 5 seconds. What truly sets him apart is that he empowered me to be my own advocate. In my experience, most MDS don't encourage their patients to educate themselves, to learn about the human body, or a specific disease, or different ways to treat it. Dr. Cochran absolutely does. He really is a wealth of medical knowledge, and always seems to be learning more himself. In other words, he isn't complacent, which is usually what I experience meeting with an MD at most major clinics. My health battle most certainly has had its ups and downs. It's taken time, energy, money and some experimentation at times, but I can seriously say I have a life again. I was basically bedridden when this all started, and now I can do things I thought I'd lost forever, and I actually have Hope. I'd say the only true "downsides" to functional medicine, is that the cost tends to be high depending on the therapies you choose, and there can be a lot of trial and error depending on what your medical issues are...but this isn't really an IHC issue, it's this way across the board unfortunately, and contrary to popular belief good and qualified Naturopathic doctors aren't trying to "rob you." They have high costs too, just to run their clinics at all, and they don't typically get the same assistance that major hospitals and clinics receive. I feel like I could talk for hours about why this is and how broken our larger medical system has become but at the end of the day, you just have to ask yourself, how much is your health worth? I truly believe that health is...everything, and when you lose it, you lose a lot of what makes life truly beautiful too, what makes life worth living...so finding the right doctor who cares about your health as much as you do, is HUGE. I would absolutely refer anyone to IHC, sick or not! PS, Dr. Cochran is amazing, but the rest of the team and staff are too, It's just a really warm, empathetic and welcoming environment all the way around...which in my opinion counts for a lot when you're feeling like total crud.

Dr. Cahn saw me sitting in the waiting room and insisted I sit with him. In fact, I found myself spewing all that was going - for over 45 mins. I left that day with some referrals, potential answers, a link to an article and a feeling that I may just figure out what is going on. Dr Cahn's priority is his patients. He's got the kind of heart that you can only hope for in a family doc. And his PA and NP - the same. Both are incredible. His staff, family, even Lucy (the amazingly gentle and therapeutic office golden doodle) make an appt with him a welcomed visit to get better. I couldn't say enough about the best doctor I've ever had.

Instead of providing the documents, communications repeatedly defaulted to the patient/portal, and we were told they would not work with an authorized spouse unless a power of attorney existed. Statements were difficult to reconcile month-to-month, and late/finance fee language was referenced despite unresolved documentation requests. We paid undisputed principal amounts but could not obtain clear records to reconcile the account. Consider this if you value transparent billing and straightforward records access.

The naturopath doesn't hate western medicine, but encourages the alternative: diet changes (in our case for asthma, eczema and allergies) and homeopathic remedies. But there was no space on the paperwork that asked about my prior medical issues (2 strokes, 2 TIA's and 1 heart attack), and current state of health. And no insurance questions were asked for coverage, or i.d. info, or plan. I arrived early and asked the receptionist about the lack of insurance questions, and no medical history records needed. She said that the clinic does not take insurance, and does not work with insurance companies. And that all costs are paid for out of my own pocket. But I know that they do blood work, and that can get very expensive, and time with a medical doctor can be hundreds of dollars per hour. I wish I had known, and maybe I missed it on the website, but be forewarned. They expect you to pay out of pocket even if you have excellent insurance coverage.
