Dr. Hefflefinger has a dry humor, and is a bit "old school" but in the best most experienced way - he doesn't try to "up-sell" you like a lot of new younger dentists do these days. I was a little scared because root canals have such a bad rep, but thankfully I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Gamson. I was seen promptly when I arrived and felt more relaxed in just a few minutes. Dr. Gamson is gifted - finding common interests to distract patients in a charming manner - and at the same time explaining what he is doing and what to expect. Also, it's clear he's a top notch expert when it comes to root canals. I had no pain during the procedure - just a bit of sting with the shots. The root canal immediately addressed the radiating pain. I was so relieved that an experience I expected to be horrible was not - and I enjoyed Dr. Gamson's charming chatter, which distracted me from my fears. The office staff was efficient and helped me understand the insurance coverage situation. Also, the office and treatment rooms have unique art displayed that I enjoyed learning about. Anyway, I'm going back soon as I suspect another tooth needs treatment...it's nice that I know I have no reason to worry.

The office is clean and tidy, and they have always been cordial. There is a drastically more pleasant feeling here than in other offices I've been to in the DC area. The hygienists are thorough and polite and Dr. Tabb is also very sweet and knowledgeable. I understand that others feel she is somewhat of a saleswoman-- and I have a small sense of this, but I definitely feel that she has the best intentions. Teeth are an important feature that some people shouldn't overlook! Anyway, if I ever feel like they are offering something I don't need, I simply state that I am not interested and nothing more is said. Anyway, I've had only good experiences here, and I now bring my boyfriend to her as well.

I am a healthy 30 year old male, with good oral hygiene. Deborah Tabb recommended: Two separate teeth scaling appointments, one for each side of the mouth (I don't have gum disease lol) Two separate Gingival Irrigation treatments (Again, no gum disease) Night Guard for teeth grinding (At $375 - you can buy this from Amazon for $100) Treatment for 5 cavities (Only 1-2 likely actually need treatment) For a total cost of $783! After talking to dentists in my family (my uncle is practicing and my brother-in-law will be soon), we determined that Deborah Tabb is simply trying to bill both the patient and insurance for as much as possible. In addition, she is smart enough to avoid damaging her ZocDoc rating. Her technique was to cancel the appointment I booked for her through the ZocDoc, and then affirm the appointment when I called in.

He really lets you know that he cares by remembering things about you and conversations that you've had. He's very personable, and really listens. He takes the time to discuss options and involves you in the process. He also isn't quick to jump right in to a root canal and crown, but rather tries to save the tooth and do a filling instead if possible. He's really great - highly recommend!
