The only good thing about this place is the guy named Ken because he does actually try and recover the items your post man has lost! The others are AWFUL! Super rude customer service when you go there and I do agree with others that there is a thief in there! I had a package that was worth over $500 our post man marked it delivered to the front door even though it could fit in the box and when it wasn't there I called and told them it was a gift from someone who just passed and they didn't even understand why he would mark it at the door since it's small enough to fit in the box! Then he called our post man and magically found it in 10 min or less! So obviously he thought his wife would probably like it! this isn't the first time he is ALWAYS either losing our mail in the neighborhood or somehow delivering it to the wrong address and I don't even know how that's possible all of our house numbers are labeled very well so he has no excuses other than being lazy he also somehow put mail in the wrong boxes ALL THE TIME! We as a neighborhood have witnessed him smoking while delivering packages and not caring if kids are right by him he will blow his smoke their way! I have talked to the post office MANY times about him and in fact our whole neighborhood has including our HOA but apparently that's ok because he's still here! This man really should be charged with child endangerment, theft, etc but of course they refuse to do anything! read more

Well they suck. They told me i dont look like my ID. Which was taken when i was 16, and told me i couldnt get my money order changed until i change it. Who even does that. Stupidist shit ive ever heard. read more

I'm going to go ahead and say it. There's a thief at the Yelm post office. We just moved here in July. After my husband never received his birthday card, I found out that's a real problem in the subdivision of Clearwood. So I signed up for informed delivery on USPS. Now, my daughter's birthday card WAS SCANNED and never made it to my mailbox. So far, 2 out of 3 in my family have never received their birthday money. Don't send anything to Yelm that even slightly looks like a card without a tracking number. I promise it won't make it. My community has already tried to complain and nothing is happening. Im thinking of going to the FBI with this. Messing with mail is a FEDERAL OFFENSE. read more

Once again these mail carriers said they attempted to deliver a package and no one was home.....BS, I was there all day long. When I get to the mailbox, wouldn't you know it, there sits an attempted delivery notice saying they tried to deliver a package. They absolutely DID NOT EVEN TRY! read more

All I can say is I don't go there unless I have to. Well maybe more than one thing, or two. Horrible attitudes, terrible leadership-constantly changing, unclean, worse customer service. I take all my packages to the McKenna Post office. Clean, great service, management has been the same for several years, there's always a happy smile. read more

Great customer service, very helpful and friendly every time I come in with my 3 crazy kids in tow. It means a lot to me. LOL

Well what can I say, except this post office is full of inept, rude and basically illiterate employees. When mail & packages are misdelivered to lock mailboxes, the intended recipient has no recourse. So when the carrier sees my mail in the outgoing mailboxes because it was misdelivered by THEM to a neighbor in the first place they take it upon themselves to begin returning mail to sender. So for some reason it takes over 4 days for that returned mail to get from Yelm to Lacey. The sender has still not received the mail back. So when you speak to the supervisor, Charlie, he says he will speak to the carrier so this doesn't happen again. Yet he's already given you the same spiel 2 months ago. At this point they have "misdelivered" a package worth nearly $200 and a $1000 check. So currently this post office has cost me $1200. At what point does their incompetence become criminal? If I was this terrible at my job, I wouldn't have one. read more

Frustration central! Lines are long - service is slow - lose or misplace packages. Impossible to get through on their phone lines, it has a continuous busy signal so can't even leave a message. Who does business like this these days?? McKenna's and Rainier's post offices are so much more pleasant to deal with. Updating this review several months later. Things have not gotten any better. Super long lines are common, sometimes with 10 - 15 min. wait times, just to pick up a package. Why oh why do they only have one person working at the counter, ever, in spite of having 3 separate cashier stations when the lines are so long! Except for maybe one or two people there, the others have a blatant do not care attitude. This is one of the most frustrating places in this small town. read more

Don't expect a friendly experience if you have to phone this post office and "Ken" answers. Usually everyone at the Yelm post office is nice, helpful and sounds friendly (like Matt - Matt is nice, and helpful). Not Ken. They are crazy to let someone with such a mean unfriendly manner anywhere near their phones. A big phooey on them :-P And EVEN THO I HAVE LIVED AT THE SAME PLACE FOR OVER 25 YEARS, and even though they deliver mail to my neighbor, they still send back a package addressed to the street address rather than check to see if I have a PO Box there, as if my address were on the moon. I have 3 PO boxes, and one is a business box, but can they check before returning a box? Nope - WAY too much trouble. Let's make me pay shipping twice. Just throw the package into the Return to Sender tub and forget about it. And when I call to see if the package can be stopped from going all the way back to the sender, Mr Nasty (Ken) is like "Tough Turtles, we don't care if you have a PO Box here or not, we are NOT going to check to see, we're gonna punish you because the Sender put your street address on instead of your PO Box and we're sending your crap back. Period. End of story." read more

Absolute garbage customer service. There is only one lady I love in this post office that truly cares about the customers. But, the post master and supervisor that works here do not go by USPS standards. I own my own business and send out packages almost on a daily bases. I use their priority shipping, because of the, "if it fits, it ships" motto. However, they go by their own standards. Apparently, you cannot fold the envelope pass the pre-folded section on a flat rate. What absolute garbage and nonsense. If the envelope folds pass the pre-folded line that is given- then there should be no argument... I even showed them the rules and regulations for flat rate envelope's on USPS website and they STILL denied me. Don't waste your time going to this post office. What a joke! I filed a complaint and it's under investigation, I can't wait hear back. Obviously, by all these one star reviews, this place needs to be investigated. Ha ha ha read more

Hate to give them a one star because there are a couple of GREAT customer service people here namely, SAM! But the Postmaster here is awful. I've seen him get extremely rude, yelling and showing his teeth. He literally lost it and needed to step away. I was unfortunately on the other end of that! Was very glad I had a nice military man standing next to me that was on the receiving end as well. He told the postmaster he needed to calm down and then helped me get my packages and get out of that situation. If it wasn't such a pain to change your address I'd have shifted to Rainier Post Office a long time ago. Still may as I continue feel like some of the staff there are definitely not interested in customer service at all. read more

The Yelm, Wa. post office is ridiculous. If you have to go to the Yelm, Wa. post office for anything you better plan on being there for a LONG TIME. If you live in Scenic Shores housing development don't plan on your mail being delivered most of the time until 6 or 7 o'clock at night or not at all. There have been several times that the mail from the day before is being delivered early the next morning by some other mail delivery person from the Yelm post office and then the mail from the current day is still not being delivered until late. It's like this 5 days out of 6 all of the time. The mail delivery person needs to get on the ball and quit stopping at various different residents houses and talking. Maybe her route is just plain to much for her to handle. I could go on and on it's totally ridiculous. read more

More of a three and a half. These people are alright but they really don't care about you or your package and don't pretend to- unlike most customer service jobs. read more

we get great service the carriers but today no mail pickup is there reason in the pines

Good customer service. Lines are on the long side pretty much anytime I've been there, but they are quick and efficient. But if you know you will have forms to fill out, try and do it before you get in line and hold it up. read more

The worst post office. I have never had even a decent experience at the Yelm post office. The lines are always long, they always seem to have only one person working at the counter, even if there are many other workers there. Our normal mail delivery woman is wonderful, but the subs are awful. They make no attempt to deliver packages. I was waiting for a package for father's day, but the mail sub was too lazy to try to deliver it. When I went in to retrieve this package, I had to wait in the ridiculous line only to be told that they couldn't find my package. Worker had zero interest in helping. Honestly, I would give them a zero if it were possible. read more

We were expecting a package on Saturday for Father's day and tracking said it was out for delivery. The carrier, a weekend sub I think, made no attempt to deliver the package. We watched as mail was placed in our mail box. Normally our driver finishes the streets deliveries and pulls in to deliver packages too large for the mailbox on her way back past our house. This is what we expected. NO, drove right past the driveway. Note in mailbox said that they "attempted" to deliver it and that we could pick it up Monday. We went in today, Monday, to get the package. Waited in line for what seemed like forever for the ONE counter person to help us. He showed no interest in helping us and at a snail's pace looked around the back a bit. He then came to the counter to explain that he couldn't find the package and he'd have to get a hold of the driver. We were then dismissed. Customer service is not in existence at this location. This is not the first time we have had substandard service at the Yelm Post office. I do love our regular mail carried who goes above and beyond to take care of us. This is no reflection on her. read more

This review is in regards to the person delivering my mail. Our delivery driver consistently does not deliver our packages to our house. Instead he/she continues to leave notices in our mail box that the package couldn't be delivered due to "unsecured location" or "attempt was made but nobody home." Most of these notices were left when the residents were home. Today, three packages weren't delivered due to "unsecured location" but I was home from work due to the flu. We live down a slightly inconvenient, though short, driveway. It has become incredibly clear our mail person does not want to "slow" down to actually do their job and deliver the package to our house. This is ridiculous. I mentioned this to the personnel at the Post Office, asking them if the policy was that our packages were supposed to be delivered to our house. They said yes, but didn't seem to be concerned when I explained our situation. This is not finished! DO YOUR JOBS! read more
