This is the slowest and one of the very worst when it comes to efficiency. How can you have only one worker upfront in the morning hours? The other staff sees the line growing and disappears. There is no urgency in getting the line to move along. Then if passport applications come there goes the other worker. Be careful dropping your packages off after hours in the overnight package receptacles. I had the misfortune of dropping a package I was returning to the vendor and the package never made it to the vendor. The mistake I made was that the package had a UPS label in which I assumed it would be handed off to USP. Unfortunately, I was wrong and they never handed it off to UPS. The package label had my phone number, and address. If they could not forward the package to UPS why didn't someone call me instead of pocketing the contents of my package? UPS NEVER! Received my package and I ended up having pay hundreds of dollars for something that would have been no cost to me. Lesson learned. Make sure you log all of your packages at the kiosk at any Post Office after hours. *Best practice is drop off during normal business hours. Valley Stream Post office is the worst!!!! I purchased an expensive gift on eBay and have been following the tracking to make sure that when it arrives I can bring it into the house. The VALLEY STREAM POST OFFICE received the package that was to be delivered to my home, in VALLEY STREAM, -- and they sent it to FREEPORT! I've lived in Valley Stream for most of my life and I have never ever seen it so incompetently run as this!!!! This location is conveniently Located. however. There's a few things that always seem to be an issue. First there are no pens for customers to use. I've had to ask other customers and or postal workers to borrow their pens on multiple occasions. Also the supplies always seem to be low or non nonexistent. Wow! What a difference a location makes! I have not been getting my mail delivered properly in Queens for over one year. Tried to get help at my local PO, to no avail. So I went to the Valley Stream PO. The Post Office in Valley Stream runs like a well oiled machine and is just filled with helpful and caring human beings. The physical appearance is clean and neat. No overfilled waste baskets here. There were four employees at cash registers helping customers. In addition, I noticed such pleasantries as how might I help you, thank you, and happy holidays were exchanged. I also saw one employee on the floor helping customers put together their packages with tape and scissors. Another showed a woman how to use the automated machine to ship her package. It was incredible. Whom ever runs this PO should be commended!! I met a lovely manager named Samantha who steered me in the right direction to find out why my mail is not being delivered. Being out if town frequently I am usually leave the form requesting to hold the mail.Post office has a few mail carriers that even with the form being handed to the person directly still unable to handle the simple task to follow the request.The level of incompetence is mind boggling. I spoke to Ms Anna over the phone to ask her about mail forwarding for a deceased relative. She said I can just make the change online with my credit card. When I previously visited this office in person, they said I needed a death certificate and other legal documentation. I mentioned this to Ms. Anna that I had been given this info by the VS post office and my local one in LA. She continued to repeat what she was telling me even though it made no sense and no matter what additional clarifying detail I gave her. I called back to speak with someone else who verified what I had previously been told during my in-person visit and by my local LA post office. If I could've picked zero strs, I would've. Worst post office in the US. The workers there are lazy and count down the seconds until 5 (minus one of the employees that actually helps). The women working at the registers have no heart, understanding, or the ability to help others. I'm sooooo glad I'll be changing post offices at the end of this month. Valley stream post office is run badly compared to the hewlett,cedarhurst offices. Especially now during the coronavirus epidemic. They had a long li ne of people standing next to each other waiting to be served. I leftnommediately amd went to the hewlett office where only 3 or 4 people were allowed in at a time with a sign requesting atleast 6 ft. Distamce between each other. Older man working at post office extremely rude. I picked up mail from my PO Box and he is suddenly shouting they are closed. I was on a phone call, evidently, therefore was not answering him. I was holding a pink slip (meaning I had to go get it from behind desk, not to mention the envelopes are small enough to fit in my box). He continued to shout at me, I already knew this information and thanked him for telling me. After telling him I understood he then again continued to shout at me while I finished my phone call before leaving the post office. Where do I even start? I've been a resident of Valley Stream for almost 20 years. And for the past couple of years, the mailmen hired to serve my neighborhood have been ridiculously incompetent. My mail has been delivered to other houses far too often. Pink slips, denoting that a package needs to be picked up at the post office and signed, are missing. I've lost SO much money because these the mailman fails to deliver these pink slips, and unbeknownst to me, the package is sitting in the post office for weeks until it is shipped back to the return address ... I lose money because I pay shipping to have these packages delivered to my home, and when it is shipped back to the sender, I am not reimbursed for all the shipping costs. I am on the verge of suing the post office for this. Secondly, actually being in the brick-and-mortar building of the Valley Stream post office is equivalent to being in hell on earth. Long lines, preposterous inconvenient hours. But I will say that the older employees are excellent and well-informed, the newer ones ... they are tearing down the reputation of the staff. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. The workers there are totally incompetent and unwilling to help. My boyfriends needed to ship a package overseas and they had no clue how to address it properly or how to fill out the customs paperwork. We wound up going to a place called ShipSpace in Brooklyn who did everything for us. ON TOP OF THAT...I sent out about 10 small packages to eBay customers of mine that day to various places around the country and THREE OF THEM ARE NOW LOST. it's been over a week and a half since I sent them out and they are no where to be found. I think that ever since they overhauled this post office ten (give or take) years ago it's been an absolute disaster. The layout is HORRIBLE. Instead of a long corridor that can handle lines of, oh, I don't know, six people, there is a short counter that leads to the entrance. This causes the line to back up into the entrance, and creating all sorts of hell. The lines here are long most of the time and unbearably so at peak times. Parking sucks too, because the PO doesn't have it's own parking lot. Even though traffic on Hawthorne Ave. is one way, it's still a mess with people trying to squeeze in and double park on the street. The only saving grace here is that you can use your debit card to enter after hours and buy stamps and weigh postage from an automated kiosk. s read more

Both the Asian gentleman & his Asian supervisor were very rude and don't understand how to listen. They kept over talking me explaining the same thing over and over when i explained what they are referring didn't happened. I went on line to locate a post office nearest to where I live. Franklin Ave was it! I note the negative reviews and thought ....Nah! can't be that bad! It is! On female clerk and a long line. You meet a person who may be rude because they are angry about something. To this female clerk, it seems to come naturally! She told me to hit the button that says :NO". I hit "Yes" instead. She seemed annoyed and then she says, "Listen when I am talking" When I walked up to the counter she had said, "Thank you for waiting" which I now realize is what she is probably told to say. Never came to pick up a return that I paid $24 for. My 85 year old husband had to bring it to them and they did not return fee! Plus the package was heavy and hard for us to handle. Also had a birthday gift that was supposed to be delivered ( according to tracking info) delayed and not delivered on time. Such a disappointment to the child involved. Valley stream post office Horrible location and even worse Supervisor and employees. I arrived a little before 4:40pm on Tuesday, 5/21/19. Waited online for about 15min and went to the window when called by the first available member. He quickly stated that he had to clock out by 5:15pm so he couldn't help me at about 4:55pm. I was prompted to the next available person which was, Simon. This was my first time sending a package overseas so I had some questions. Simon handed me a piece of paper and asked me to write the address and said he would be back momentarily. After 10 mins of waiting for Simon to return the employee in the counter next to me, Hector, asked if I needed help and stated that he would assist me when he finished with his guest if Simon didn't return by that time. At about 5:15pm Hector attempted to assist me in answering my questions. I mentioned to him that Simon stated he would return so I was willing to wait. Hector mentioned that he would assist me once he was done with his customer if Simon didn't return by that time. Since Simon did not return Hector proceeded in assisting me in answering my questions. Simon returned at about 5:25pm and never touched base with me and proceeded with the next guest on the line. At 5:30pm the Supervisor Annie, tells Hector that they are closed and to send home and have me return the follow day. I quickly mentioned to her that I had been waiting and was neglected twice by her employees and she completely disregarded me and repeated to Hector that they were closed and that he should not process the package and walked away. I told Hector I would not leave because at this point I had been there for about an hour. He nervously processed our package and apologized for the long wait. Annie kept walking behind him and harassing him stating that it was past 530pm and that they were closed. She continued with saying the truck had left for the day and that the package would not be processed. Hector processed our package and payment and apologetically mentioned that the package would go out the following day. This by far has been the worst hospitality I have encountered. If you go to the postal office you are hoping for help and hospitable people. This is a business that strives due to customer service but that is not reflected with the actions of the staff or upper management in this location. This is not the first time I have witnessed Annie being disgustingly unprofessional and disrespectful to guest. I have witnessed her screaming at guest on line in past visits. I don't understand how this has been allowed for this long but it is truly unacceptable. The postal people do not know how to read house numbers. They are so in a hurry to get rid of your pack and leave it at someone else address. Today 3 packages were delivered to my neighbors. I knew I was getting packages and I saw him put them at my neighbors house so I asked him what about my packages he said he had none. He told me the address he left it out and I told him it was suppose to be my address. So hewent back and got them and said I'm sorry. One was medicine so it was important to get that package. This is not the first time this has happened. You should teach them house numbers and make sure they pay attention to the house it has to go to. She acted like how dare you come in there and not know exactly how the passport process works ??? The absolute WORST customer service. I waited on line for 30 minutes only to have one of USPS's employees "REGINA" to tell me she could not assist me in simply looking up the delivery status of my package. She said only a supervisor can do that and that they are busy right now. She immediately proceeded to yell "NEXT!" when I was not half way finished with my questions. I said to her I have other questions and need assistance on shipping out a package to a family member. She responded in the most disrespectful tone of voice and said "you have to wait or rejoin the line". I ended up waiting on the sideline since I refused to rejoin the line. I finally got some assistance after another 15 minutes after asking almost every USPS employee for help and answers to my very few question. Customers should not feel as though they have to go on a scavenger hunt for assistance or answers to questions. Its as if they are punishing you for expecting them to do the very thing they signed up to do- Provide proper customer service. You are better off using UPS. If I could give 5 stars to my regular mailman I would. But this is a review of every other inept function of the Valley Stream post office. When you call them, you'd be lucky to get someone who knew what they were doing, and that's the postmaster. The counter help is hit & miss. My biggest problem is with the mail carriers who cover my regular mailman's route on his days off or vacation. I'm out of town on business quite a bit, sometimes weeks at a time and I will put a hold on my mail. In the days my regular mailman works, I get no delivery. On his days off, sure enough, mail gets delivered. And since I have cameras at my home, I'm able to see that it's ALWAYS a carrier that ISN'T my regular mailman. HOW CAN YOU MESS THIS UP?????? It's as simple as checking your route before you leave the post office for the day. I've come home to an over-stuffed rain soaked mailbox far too often. Maybe the postmaster should check her attitude along with her employees and things may start to run smoothly. read more

Not sure whats going on at this post office, I dropped off two packages, one first class mail and the other priority mail. The priority mail was scanned and shipped, a day later no info or tracking on the first class package, Ive never had this issue. When I called I spoke to a women who was nice, but could not give me any info because the internet had been down. Advice to everyone, don't drop package off, unfortunately you should stand in line and watch the scanning, I will do this in the future. The people here are so condescending. I'm not from the area but my package (textbooks I desperately needed) tracking number said it was here. A WEEK goes by and I had no idea why so I called. First off, I called every few hours for two days. Phone was always busy or off the hook. I finally get through and the woman doesn't know what a tracking number is. I explained my situation and all she said was I cant help you, so I ask who can, she said she didn't know. Basically she looked up my package, told me it was here, and did nothing. Nightmare on Ethel St. Whenever our regular mail carrier is off, it's anyone's guess if we'll get mail delivery. This week, we haven't received mail for 2 days.
