Literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Horrible management, nobody answers the phone.

I mean, they're quick but I don't get why it's so amazing. They didn't even have a lazy river.

Worst post office ever!! Lines always long and service is extremely slow. I don't understand why they won't hire more people.

I am giving this review a 3 star only because the man and lady I talked to were nice and friendly…read more I would otherwise give it a two-star review. The lady seemed genuine and was very nice on the phone as well as in person. I called and stopped by Dale Store to arrange a raft shuttle for the NF John Day in May. The man, while mostly friendly, did not want to get my truck key out of or put my truck key back in its lock box, which can be accessed by partially kneeling near the bumper. Absolutely NO stooping or crawling is necessary to access this lockbox, a relatively secure way to leave a key for the shuttle driver. I had to argue and bargain with the man to use my lockbox at all, even though I'd just paid him a nice chunk of change for the shuttle service. When I got to the NF John Day raft take out on a 95 degree day, my truck was waiting in the sun, but the driver had cast the sunshade onto the passenger floor and hadn't bothered to replace it in the windshield. The truck was very hot inside. I had also put a towel down on the driver's seat for any driver to sit on. The driver had moved the towel aside so he wouldn't have to sit on it. A trip mate also used Dale store as a shuttle service. Dale Store shuttle personnel had left his cab light on so my mate's battery was dead when we arrived at the take out. We spent 20 minutes getting his vehicle started. I appreciate that this shuttle service is even available, so far out in Timbuktu. However, I will trial another shuttle service next time.

You're tooling along Highway 395, the Ukiah-Dale Forest State Scenic Corridor in Grant County,…read moreEastern Oregon, because, Hey! You like off the beaten path adventures and you are a Road Warrior. Only, you are a Road Warrior who really has to pee AND who has noticed that one of your tires needs air (this last part is crucial because otherwise you'd just pull over and do your business in the trees like the beast you are when in Road Warrior mode. Rowwr!!). Anyway, the Goddesses of the Highway have anticipated your needs because there, sitting serenely along the side of the road, is The Dale Service Station -and Post Office-and Grocery-and coffee shop-and unofficial Ranger Station-and Community Center-and really, everything else. Because this is unincorporated Dale, Oregon, population unknown (somewhere between 1-15), and this is where things are happening. First established in 1887, it was named Dorman, after James W. Dorman, the first postmaster and a hearty soul. The name was changed to Dale in 1891 and no one knows why. I mean, literally, no one knows why. The place does not fit the geographic definition of a dale ("a valley, especially a broad one") and there's no mention of a historically significant Dale in the historical records. So...Dale it is. Today, "Butch" owns and runs the joint. He, also, is a hearty soul. And a friendly one. And if you wanna chew the fat awhile after you've taken care of business, Butch is happy to oblige. He's got the beautiful, historical post office boxes still in operation. He's amassed quite a personal collection of once living, once vital, now dead animals, many of which he, himself killed and had mounted. He's got the sundries and the staples which folks who live out in these parts might need in a pinch. He's got serviceable sandwiches (pre-packaged) and country coffee. And importantly, he knows what's going on in his community. Don't be afraid to ask. For example, Butch and I discussed emergency services and the State government's "failure to take care of real Oregonians" (his words) while I made sure to avoid discussing 45 and our current federal regime. We found common ground elsewhere and truly had an enjoyable conversation. Make sure not to whizz on by when you pass this way. You'll miss out on a genuine experience.

My sister and I came here to drop off a large pre-paid package for a friend. The person who helped…read moreus was Damon. We went up to the counter and said we need to drop this off and that was it is already paid. He immediately got annoyed and said there was no shipping label. We turned the package around to show him the label because why would we drop off a pre-paid package with no label? He then got even more annoyed because he said he could barely read the label. He took out his scanner and dramatically tried to scan the label and complained it wouldn't scan. Instead of being helpful he was extremely rude to us about the label. Also he said he could not take the package because he couldn't scan it, but he could've just manually entered the numbers. This really made me mad because he was extremely rude and over dramatic about the package, instead of helping us fix the problem.

Their retail people are likely to know your name and make good suggestions about cost-efficient, timely delivery of packages, tax documents and plain old letters - if you ask, they'll show you how to fill out their documents before your arrive at their windows and speed your way through the process. They are also patient experts in locating packages sent from other (haven't had problems on the Pendleton end) locales. They have a persistent, gentle sense of humor and some clever merchandise, suspect the rubber boneless turkeys was was local, funny effort. My mail delivery, even on truly tough (sub-zero, ice covered roads and sidewalks, large dogs) days, has been consistent. Single downside is their public relations - they inspire a scowl in diner conversation over the location of group mailboxes and business deliveries. Haven't had these (own a small business) problems, but have heard them more than once.

When I first tried to call this location, their line was busy. Not the "sorry for the inconvenience, but our clerks are currently servicing a different customer" kind of busy, but the "we're not going to answer your phone call, so we're leaving the phone off the hook all day" kind of busy. I had to track down a back-door number from a friend, and when I did finally get ahold of someone, they couldn't help me because I don't have a tracking number. Now whenever I use UPS or FedEx, I can get the delivery tracked by using my address. So just in case you were wondering why usps is losing business, you have your answer.

Maybe you are not aware that this is a very small location and is a one person show. The office is only open 6 hours M-F and closes for one hour each day for lunch. The employee who works there is in no way incompetent and is liked by all the customers. There is no "back-door" number to this office. So, think about it, one employee providing service to customers at the retail counter and by phone in a small town that has provided the best service I have ever experienced in a rural town, might have actually been busy. I would be curious as to how and where you get your USPS financial info from, last time I heard they were taking business from UPS and Fed-Ex and outperformed them again last year. And yes it can be frustrating that the USPS only tracks packages with a "Tracking Number", but that is why they tell you to hang on to your receipt, and is one of the many reasons they are cheaper and provide better, timely service than their competitors.

There were two employees working the long line and a third helping folks that were in line for mail pick up only. Since employee number three was helping almost nobody it would have been nice if he would have helped out with everyone else and thus putting a dent in the line. In all a supremely ordinary experience. Just once it would be cool to have swift service at the post office. Dare to dream, right? Don't laugh at me.

Do I love pain? Well no. But am I a masochist? Perhaps. Anyone who would go back to the post office…read moreafter the experience I shared with all of you a mere 6 reviews ago should at least read over the symptoms: 1. The condition in which gratification depends on suffering, physical pain, and humiliation. 2.Gratification gained from pain, deprivation, degradation, etc., inflicted or imposed on oneself, either as a result of one's own actions or the actions of others, esp. the tendency to seek this form of gratification. 3.The tendency to find pleasure in self-denial, submissiveness, etc. Ok, I'm definitely in the clear. However, as abusive and ungratifying as my relationship with the post office is, I need it. And it knows I need it....which makes the whole thing, well, rather masochistic. So let's get on with it. Today - 10:27am. I timidly walk in...knowing that after my last torturous experience, I'll most likely leave with a shaved head and a missing finger...you know...to follow USPS protocol. I am greeted warmly by two employees. I tense up and I adorn my fighting stance......wait......WHAT? "Um, good morning to you too?" I'm thrown off...but the hairs on the back of my neck are still screaming "don't buy it Laura...it's a diversion!" Not willing to submit, I begin to tape up my package...and one of my adversaries started approaching from the right. Preparing a swift upper cut to the baby maker, I assessed the situation...but he had an unknown object in his left hand...a weapon...a....a....an address label?!? "Here," he said genuinely, "I brought you a label so you don't have to write directly on the package." He must be kidding. right? "Oh, and next time I can tape that up for you...unless you usually keep duct tape in that little purse of yours." Wait. Is hottie postman FLIRTING with me? Or is he just into the fact that I'm clearly a masochist because I frequent the post office and carry duct tape in my purse? We'll leave that for another review. But to tidy this one up, the post office on 24th and NW Savier is clearly the bomb diggity. (Am I allowed to say bomb and post office in the same sentence? Twice?) I was in and out in less than 3 minutes, the employees were friendly, helpful, and ahem...attractive, and I dig the abundant parking sitch. Much like a great doctor, I'm not eager to go back right away, but it's great to know that I have this solid option the next time I'm in need.
