How can the Tehachapi Post Office not have a 5 star rating? I have been going there for 10 years, the people there are fast, fun and Functional! I have sent hundreds of Overnight envelopes and always had a good experience. I had a very serious problem with my address being wrong @ the SCE office and SCE would not accept the fact that I lived on Drive, not Road, and the lady at the USPS wrote an official confirmation that I was at DR. not Rd. she was the only person that would/could help. This post office has a persistent mail delivery issue that has remained unresolved for over five years. I continue to receive mail addressed to other individuals in my mailbox, despite repeatedly notifying the post office of this problem. Each time I report the issue, I am assured that it will be corrected; however, the same delivery errors continue without improvement. This ongoing failure raises serious concerns that my own mail may be misdelivered to others, which is unacceptable. After years of repeated notifications with no meaningful resolution, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that this matter is not being taken seriously. They simply DON'T CARE! read more

Serviceable and fast. The long line wasn't an issue for me since I pay for postage ahead of time. Sizable facility as well.

I've always been amazed at the skill and knowledge of the few employees stationed at our Tehachapi Post Office. The problem is, they NEED MORE employees! With Bonnie retiring, who will replace her? Especially needed is an employee just for package and P.O. Address or broken mailbox (like ours) pick-ups. Those folks just lengthen the line and all they want to do is pick up their mail!! I'm not happy with overall USPS management during this federal administration, and feel it is a grave mistake to cut back on all federal employees across the nation who do so much for all of us. I came in on a Thursday right before 11am. As soon as I walk in the first thing I notice is a Filipino lady, Arlene, on her phone. I walked in with an envelope already in my hand. I was attended by a white Caucasian lady, mid conversation Arlene rudely interrupts & with a scolding tone asks where I got the envelope from. What I took from her approach was she assumed I had grabbed the envelope from the card rack without paying for it. I understand some customers are hectic to deal with but if Arlene had not been on her phone when I entered she would have noticed I already had the envelope. To ensure Arlene was not intentionally being rude & only inquiring about the envelope, before leaving I turned back & took out an old envelope I needed to throw away & asked if she had a trash can I could use. Arlene did not look at me or respond to my question rather just pointed at the trash bin behind her desk which was completely out of my reach. The Caucasian lady then reached over & took the old envelope to throw away for me. Arlene then in a snarky voice said she had wanted me to aim & throw as if it were a basketball hoop. I found this whole interaction with Arlene rude. The place is big & clean but for my peace of mind I will not be coming back to this post office. read more

I placed an order with Amazon and had no idea my item was going to be sent via USPS. I just received an email notice that delivery was attempted at 0830 this morning, but the mailbox was full. Our mail delivery driver doesn't even deliver out to our area until after 11:30 am. Lets keep it real, why not just say that the package is at the post office, because I was home at 0830 and no one showed up to our house. Seriously, since when is a wheelchair going to fit into a mailbox? I tried calling the Tehachapi Post Office, but the phone rings and rings, then it automatically hangs up. They use outside contractors that will flat OUT LIE about not having access to your delivery location. I live well within the .5 mile radius of the lock boxes and gate is NOT LOCKED. Couple weeks ago a package of mine was showing delivered to Tahachapi. I waited days until the package was delivered to my mailbox/package box. Today I went in for a package that the USPS websight said was at the Tehachapi office. The website said it was NOT out for delivery. Well, it is on the delivery truck I was told which is fine...except last package took 4 days to get on the truck and this package I have until tomorrow to return it if I do not like it. These folks are. i've and helpful when ever i step in to see them. like others, i have a place in rural tehachapi- with rows of mailboxes - and people stealing mail. so, sorry for those inconvenienced by having to get your packages, your community service district should install those locking mailboxes they have been charging us for the last couple of years. Don't blame USPS cause our gated community has postal thefts. as lobby mail stuff - not sure why, but probably a DC decision. If you want more services write your congressman and tell them to stop making USPS to pay the treasury for future postal employees who haven't been born yet. Overall the service rendered by the people in the Post Office is great. However, I give the carrier on our rural route a BIG FAT "F"! Since Rob (Former carrier) has retired service is piss poor. We used to receive mail No Later Than noon. Sometimes on very heavy days he would be later. The carrier is lucky to have our delivered by 6:00 pm. On two occasions she has allegedly left notices for package pickup in our box. I've never received them. One package was valued at approx $150.00 and the other one is almost $300.00! The first package through the graces of Walmart, they replaced it. The second package I'm still waiting on a Requested Redelivery today. It appears to me the carrier (she) has no sense of urgency. On numerous occasions I've driven her setting at the mailbox playing on her phone for who knows how long. Guess we're stuck with the young until she bids for another position or quits. read more

I Love this post office and all of the employees. They have always been cheery, fast, funny, helpful and generous! They go out of their way to help us! If you notice, most of these bad reviews are about the MAIL CARRIER which is not at all the same as the post office, so those reviews shouldn't even be on here. This post office is a joke they change their hours and didn't tell anybody/ post it online and they never deliver any mail whatsoever. Apparently they close at 4 o'clock now because for some reason they're understaffed?? I got a notice I got a package and I drove all the way there and got there at 4:50 PM and they close at 4 PM apparently now. Waste of time. My Mail is constantly lost or missing. Nobody in this office gives a damn about anything. I don't know how you find people this unhelpful and rude. I'm actually impressed. They never take packages to your house or leave them at your door they just stick that stupid pink slip in your mailbox and you have to drive all the way there every time literally there's no point of having a mailbox if I have to drive to the post office to get my shit. read more

I go to the Tehachapi post office almost every day. I mail out next day stuff, I buy stamps, I send 1st. class where the people there weigh the envelope. I have no idea how anyone could say anything but a 5 star rating. All the people that work there are just great. Sometimes the line has 6 people I have seen 15, in line but half the time I'm in & out in 5 min. The price is much cheaper than the options. Again, after over 100 visits I have never had a bad experience. So, am I just lucky? read more

We live in a rural, part of the city, with high elevation, snow in the winter and many of the homes have long, dirt driveways or other difficult access. Everything is pretty spread out here. So, our community has banks of mailboxes and the delivery is done by a contracter in their private vehicle. Because of the nature of the area and where we get our mail, packages are not delivered to the boxes if they won't fit in the larger parcel box and the carrier does not bring them to the house. Instead, we get a "sorry we missed you" notice without attempting a physical delivery, and we have to drive 20 minutes to the post office in town to retrieve the package. After researching USPS policy, I found out they ARE SUPPOSED TO BRING THE PACKAGE TO THE RECIPIENT. And only when a signature is required are they to leave the notice if someone is not at home. The worst part is when they blatantly lie; tracking indicates that there was a delivery when there has not. We have NEVER had the carrier being a package to our door. Several times the tracking indicates a delivery, either left in the box or to the door, and we had to make a trip to the post office to pick it up. Today, it happened again. Tracking says delivered to the porch at 1:05pm: after searching everywhere, NOTHING. The carrier never gets up here before 4, so how is it the package supposedly got here so early? I am about ready to go rent a private box and be done with this ridiculousness. You'd think (hope) that in a small community, there would be a little more pride in service. It's because of this poor service, that I use FedEx or UPS (as a last resort) if at all possible for packages. It's not worth the inevitable headaches otherwise. read more

I recently tried to send a package from Tehachapi to Antioch, TN. It's too long a story to explain here, but the Priority mail took 10 days and the problem was the Nashville Distribution Center and Annex, not our local post office. I'm writing this review because of our local post office employee Bonnie. She was so helpful and concerned and went way above and beyond to help me work this problem through. She is always friendly but I now think there's something very special about this lady and while I thanked her several times in person, I wanted to put my gratitude in writing. The customer service here is excellent I will admit, however, they close every possible chance they get and it gets old! Power goes out for a few hours, closed! Snows on Sunday, clear on Monday but are they open?! No!! I have a business, you can't depend on this post office at all! read more

I've lived here for 3 years now and I've had at least 25 "lost" items, birthday cards ( w gift cards), holiday cards, my grandparents passed away and have not received cards people said they sent, a personalized shirt ( worth $75), and bills. I've complained over and over again but the mail lady is STILL employed by the post office. And then when u try and call the post office it's busy or they just don't plain answer!!! read more

Who ever the delivery lady is always delay my deliveries. I've had so many incidents where my package was supposed to be deliver and it never comes. I later get notifications from Amazon that they attempted to deliver my packages but I wasn't home. I always make sure I'm home when I'm expecting a delivery. I'll call the office stating I've been home all day and no attempted has ever been made. They'll put on hold and then come back with bs excuses. I've noticed that these incidents usually happens on raining days, makes me feel like she just doesn't want to do her job when the weather is bad so to save her ass, she checks the packages as an attempted delivery. Another thing is, why doesn't she return the package back to the facility when it's not delivered. I once called to ask about a lost package and I was told the delivery lady probably still have it and mind you, this package has been missing for a couple days and I even went to the post office to look for it. I always took reliable postal service for granted until I moved to Tehachapi. I live in town & I have had numerous times where I was supposed to get a package on a certain day & never received it. It shows out for delivery on my tracking & then delayed - only to show up a day later. I have also received other people's mail (packages) at least 3 times now since I've lived here 6 months. I go days where I don't even get mail picked up/delivered. I'm from a rural area that always provided good service - I'm not sure why this office has such a hard time providing good service. read more

This is a big-city post office in a little bitty town. We are lucky to have such a nice facility in our little hamlet. The employees are as helpful as they can be. There are Saturday hours here! Sometimes there are long lines, but it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer and everyone is gracious. read more

Lived in Tehachapi for 18 years. Always found this PO to be reliable and friendly until the last couple (2) of years. Last two Express Mailings - One never made it to the destination; the other three days late! This is an expensive service that requires more attention and respect. When I went in for my refunds, I was treated with disrespect and in one case threatened! This is no way for a failing government agency to respond. My understanding is that the Postmaster at this office had changed about two years ago. Just saying! Stay away from this office unless absolutely necessary. Thanks for your attention. read more
