We happened to be there on a perfect day when High Desert Falconry visited for an educational program. It was so amazing learning about these beautiful birds. We learned so much from the husband and wife team. Definitely check out their website for any upcoming events. During the summer, they also have a lunch program for the kids from 11:30 to 12:30. This is the last week they are having it. It starts when the kids are out of school and runs to the end of July. That is, if they receive the funding to offer it. Security guard to the right asked if he could help me, told him, pointed to the form and what section to complete. Told me to take it to the windows straight ahead. The plexiglass is kind of bank like but wouldn't stop a bullet but not the DIY Covid stuff either. Clean, well installed and I could hear the clerk behind. She had me sign the form and pay the fee. A couple minutes later she gave me my document in a Manila envelope. And we were on our way! Cudos to whoever makes that place work well and to the people that work well!! Oh they only take cash or checks. I don't normally have cash so I got lucky today.

I was able to locate parking relatively easily. There's a small lot around the corner, but street parking can often be found. I entered through the side door behind another couple. There is buzzer to be allowed inside, and security to assist. You'll want to bring cash or check - they do not take cards. It's a beautiful old building and I would have loved to take photos, except I got nervous after seeing a "no photos while in line" sign.

Once I arrived I was appalled by the amount of parking there is, usually one has to pay or park far but here parking is not an issue. The check in process was super straight forward fill out you're form get in line go thru security then check in. You will ride a bus about 5 min to the facility and as soon as you get off go inside the facility and hand over your form to the officer. From there it's just a wait till you hear your loved one's name and they'll tell you you're booth. Staff and officers were very nice and understanding something I would wish I'd see more in L.A. Dress code is not so strict from what I've seen but I still try to keep it toned down casual just in case! Sometimes there will be lockdowns and unfortunately that aren't the facility's fault. They go thru a thorough process and as soon as everything is green light then they will almost always let you in to see your loved one. If you need to use the restroom try using the ones passing security for a cleaner experience. Stay strong everyone God is good!

The Armstrong Flight research Center (formerly known as the Dryden Flight Research Center) is located at Edwards Air Force Base. They do have an annex located at Plant 42 in Palmdale, but this is the main center From here they conduct a variety of research. Past projects are a who's who of aviation legends from the Bell X-1, F-104N, The F-15 ACTIV, F-8, SR-71, HL-10, HiMat, X-29 etc etc etc. and they are all on display. They are currently working on a variety of X planes that take advantage of the massive runway and facilities there. It is difficult to get a tour and even stop to look at the static displays unless you have business at AFRC.
