We happened to be there on a perfect day when High Desert Falconry visited for an educational program. It was so amazing learning about these beautiful birds. We learned so much from the husband and wife team. Definitely check out their website for any upcoming events. During the summer, they also have a lunch program for the kids from 11:30 to 12:30. This is the last week they are having it. It starts when the kids are out of school and runs to the end of July. That is, if they receive the funding to offer it. It was so nice to come in out of the heat to this nice air-conditioned building. Thank goodness it's not a very busy office. I think I was only one of two people in the whole building waiting to be seen by somebody. After I went and had a seat and was waiting for my name to be called there was absolutely nobody left in the building. I was rather amused by the sweet woman behind the counter that says are you Kellie? Why yes I am. What a good guess that was, because there was absolutely not one other person in there. It was kind of funny. The woman that helped me was named Miriam. A very sweet professional woman that had a lot of knowledge about what she was doing. She was very quick and responsive, knew exactly what forms I was looking for and was so kind not to charge me for any of the documents. Everyone that works in this office is just really nice.

The Armstrong Flight research Center (formerly known as the Dryden Flight Research Center) is located at Edwards Air Force Base. They do have an annex located at Plant 42 in Palmdale, but this is the main center From here they conduct a variety of research. Past projects are a who's who of aviation legends from the Bell X-1, F-104N, The F-15 ACTIV, F-8, SR-71, HL-10, HiMat, X-29 etc etc etc. and they are all on display. They are currently working on a variety of X planes that take advantage of the massive runway and facilities there. It is difficult to get a tour and even stop to look at the static displays unless you have business at AFRC.

We printed applications on line and then went to AAA for passport photos. We called City Hall and scheduled appointment for the next week. We went in and paid the fee and we were done. Very easy process and received our passports quickly. The ladies working were very nice and helpful.
