All the times I've been here these ladies are extremely rude and disrespectful. They have such smart mouths and it doesn't make them look good. They speak to you as if you're an idiot. They need new management. The tall chunky lady with highlights who sometimes does the behind the wheel test is so damn rude. They need to get rid of her asap. This is ridiculous. I was certain that my license would be sent to me this year since mine expired on the 4th. However, when I went online, I discovered I needed to take a knowledge test and then visit the DMV to complete the process. I wasn't too upset about this because my current photo was terrible and didn't resemble me at all. If you do this, make sure to choose the at-home test option online. It costs $45, the same as taking it at the office, where the lines are insanely long. The DMV was packed! When my number was finally called, I was lucky to be assisted by Karen Gomez. When I reached her window, I told her, "Whatever you get paid, it's not enough." I had witnessed such rudeness from others there to take care of business. Nobody likes going to the DMV, but people, please be nice! Karen was incredibly kind and put me at ease. This location is small compared to the other locations in Bakersfield. Like all other DMV locations, you can make an appointment online. I made an appointment for 10:30am but like all other DMV locations, you can't really expect to get called in at that time. You still have to get in line to check in and will still have to wait for your number to get called. I finally got called up at 10:55am. Surprise, surprise. (Insert unamused face emoji). I guess the one upside to this location is that it is easier to get same-day or even same-week appointments at this location compared to the one in SW Bakersfield. Would only give it a half star! My brother had a behind the wheel test and the lady failed him because he didn't knew English! Which she told him in Spanish! There was a family behind him and as well failed him right on the spot! Apparently it's a new law to do the test only in English. I looked for that "new law" and I didn't found anything! read more

ill never understand why people work here if they dont want to help. it took a whole day to get my renewal done something that could have taken 10 min. just because they "aren't" doing any renewals in office. even had to drive 30 min to closest kiosk and i still was unable to process so had to go back to this office and they forcefully helped me. if you ever have issues with your renewals and these people are giving you a hard time I suggest you call the DMV and they will most likely be more helpful. read more

Not bad. Really. The Arvin DMV gets busy at times, but somehow they find a way to take what everybody expects to be a bad experience and make it better. I waited a couple hours to get what I needed but I knew that they weren't wasting time while I was waiting. The workers here are very pleasant, so much so that I drive to Arvin for all my DMV needs. Let's face it, the DMV is never fun, but the Arvin DMV workers make it at least pleasant. It is obvious they know that the folks are not happy to be there so they really step it up. Vehicle reg renewal was fast and painless. Only 5 numbers ahead of me when I got my ticket. Less than 10 mins at the window.

Avoid this DMV. Everybody I know said go to Arvin Lol. A few problems. If your taking the driving test test don't do it here. The examiner failed me along with around 4 other people. I would say its just me, but the 4 drivers in front of me failed as well. Same examiner. Part of the problem is that the arvin speed limit / traffic gets kind of wonky. Especially on the test route. For those of you who are wondering it seems that because this town is so small, there is no set test route as well. Also there is a lot of construction in the west of town right now so keep than in mind. If you are a new driver go to taft or bakersfield southwest. Longer lines there though. Shorter wait in arvin . And for the short lines I give it 2 stars, instead of 1. read more

If you have the opportunity to go to any other DMV, you should do so. The DMV in Arvin has a few attention seekers that will put on a "look at me" show, but they are not very efficient. My friend just recently had an experience where she was told she was charged too much to register a non-OP vehicle. When she asked if she was going to get any money back, suddenly everyone was quiet. Then when she said her vehicle was broken into and her registration stolen, they told her she would have to go enter her information into the computer. She wondered why she couldn't be helped by them since she was already there in front of them. Finally, they tried to tell her that they couldn't register a car that stated a selling price of $5. They could do it as a gift, but not $5. Who are they to tell anyone how much to sell their car for? Overall, this is a small town with a small DMV, run by some very small people, with small minds. You may find a gem in the mix, but they do not stand out as much as the attention seekers. read more

The girls here were very patient with two senior citizens, my wife and I. We were very happy to pass the vision test with our new glasses from America's Best. The study we put in paid off - we passed the written test! The girl who helped me replace my missing handicapped placard was very patient helping me get the paperwork right. After going to the DMV on Schirra in Bakersfield and waiting for hours to find out once I finally get up there that the debit isn't working...really?! So I made a appt with DMV in Arvin, I was literally in there 5 mins, paid my fees with my debit and I was done. And everyone was smiling, much to my surprise!! I arrived without having an appointment. I was promptly greeted by Isabel. My number was called in about 10 min and I was processed by Guadalupe. I had to take an exam to renew my license and then after passing it, Alicia issued my interim license. In and out of there within an hour!! Definitely my new go-to and definitely worth the hour drive. Good job ladies you were all professional, efficient and most of all friendly and superb customer service!!!!!! read more

I thought that this DMV is terrible. I would highly recommend not going here. It doesn't even matter if you have an appointment you won't get in for 30min to an hour after you get there. There is only about 2 people helping everyone that comes in, and they aren't even that helpful. Arvin is definitely not the place to go for anything. read more

Had an appointment at 10:00am and it's been an hour so far of waiting. Not sure what the point of having an appointment is?!

Went 30 miles out of my way because they showed 0 min wait time. Found out that they cheat their wait time stats by making you wait at the check-in line for a long time. Online wait time showed 0 minutes, but when I got there it actually took 45 minutes to get to a window. And by then the inspection hours (end 30 minutes before closing), were unavailable.
