We printed applications on line and then went to AAA for passport photos. We called City Hall and scheduled appointment for the next week. We went in and paid the fee and we were done. We happened to be there on a perfect day when High Desert Falconry visited for an educational program. It was so amazing learning about these beautiful birds. We learned so much from the husband and wife team. Definitely check out their website for any upcoming events. During the summer, they also have a lunch program for the kids from 11:30 to 12:30. This is the last week they are having it. It starts when the kids are out of school and runs to the end of July. That is, if they receive the funding to offer it. I've watched my Tehachapi Family grow by generations. Along with my Sister in Spirit Britt we have been through the death of loved ones, births and without a doubt lots of heath conditions. I hope Britt doesn't mind me saying that I mentored her in her quest to be Elite. I'm so proud of her and I enjoy seeing her attending events! Yes I used to exchange gifts with Britt years ago. She was the only one. She loved my Yelp Swag so I sent her big boxes. Definitely my Tehachapi grandbaby received a gift. The family grew so huge I had to stop! So I'm posting a couple pictures of my favorite gift from Britt. I've placed it where I can see it on my daughter's entry table. I currently use it for quick cash to give my building employees because at this point in time I need a lot of assistance! Always remember I love you and think of you daily my Tehachapi Fam! Just simple railroad mountain country people. That back in the day Great grandpa worked for the railroad all week and great grandmother was the singer for a band. In fact rumors go she would make more money in one weekend singing the blues away, then Great Grandpa working on the railroad all week long. Not much is around except the Caliente post office, the train that goes on at all hours of the night. Lots of cotton tails running wild with adorable cows all over running free and happy. At night if you are lucky bobcats will come out and skunks too. Lots of bats and many of the locals have goats and chickens. Oh yes, sure! Did I mention horses? Of course the cowboys/girls have horses. Be careful with rattlesnakes in fact that is what stopped me on my on my tracks looking for a 1860's lost abandon cemetery. That in the late 50's grate-grandpa best friend was berried. I want to say that right where grandmothers cabin is located. I found about 10 homes long ago empty. Those homes all have a story that grandmother can tell us as a story, of when she was a little girl. She remembers everyone's names and what became of them. Two of the homes were on one point where in fact aschool site aka Caliente Elementary but a dork set it on fire. In this little mountain ghost town you will find the best pies and cookies. One recipe that grate-grandmother acquired from one of the cook's back in the day "Tehachipi's prison cookies" those are by far the best cookies I have ever had. Only dirt roads and no street lights so naturally any wild animal is around the corner. Bears and mountain lions have been sighted. So if you decide to visit you are in gods good humor. No gas station no McDonald's no starbucks. The closest coffee house is in Keens the other small mountain town down the hill. Otherwise Tehachipi might be your saving grace. If you like alone time and you are wild at heart like I am. The nights you will blessed with the magic of the milky way. The back dirt road leads to Kern River and that is another favorite stop of mine. If you need to get away from the big city you might want explore taking a dirt road with me and I will show you around. Especially if you are into Rail road trains ghost lost forgotten mountain towns. Caliente is a sentimental family ghost town that has many stories of a lady name Susie that used play the organ and sing in a band. In fact she played and partied with Cesar Chaves! Oh yeah! Babe! Later, the name Agua Caliente, coming from hot springs in the area, was proposed and may have been used. This name conflicted with the community of the same name in Sonoma County. With the railroad's arrival in 1875, the shortened name Caliente was adopted. Caliente prospered during Southern PacificRailroad's construction of Tehachapi Pass line. For a time, the Telegraph Stage Line and the Cerro Gordo Freighting Co. also ran through Caliente and its full-time population grew to 200. There were approximately 60 buildings, including 20 or more saloons. Today, Caliente has a population of about 1000. I'm not sure why you would visit. There isn't a town to speak of and just one place to grab a bite, but it's a very cool place that makes you think you're a million miles away from la. And if you like urban exploration, there are quite a few abandoned mills, farms and houses all basically along the one road (littered with cows...no really, you most likely WILL encounter MANY cows on and off the main road) that goes through the town.

They claimed they attempted an Amazon delivery at 10:30 but no one ever stopped by the house or rang the doorbell or anything. They never left a slip either saying when they would be back. I contacted usps because it stated they needed an access code to my address but I don't even live in a gated area and they promise they would reattempt delivery the next day. Well lo and behold they didn't try to reattempt delivery. I have never had so many problems with a usps office before. If I could request for Amazon to stop trusting them with packages I would.
