I went there last week to get a passport. I was there 15 minutes before the appt. The agent actually told me that I had the wrong application. I did not. I actually READ and understood the process. The wait was long. The meter took 2 of my quarters - this happened twice. Clearly the city of Scarsdale is aware of this but choose to do nothing. Wow! I just read some of the other Yelp reviews and I can't believe the comments. I've been going to the US Post Office on Chase Road for over twenty years and I have been consistently impressed impressed with their dedicated staff, selection of supplies as well as it's classic architecture. I wonder whether some folks just get pleasure by writing negative reviews. Look, if a letter gets lost in transit, it doesn't seem right to blame the postal workers who sell you the stamps and toss the packages into the proper bins. I'm grateful to our United States postal employees who take pride in their jobs and have made sending packages and even payinG our taxes a more pleasurable experience! read more

Terrible service and unstable customers. Two people working there, line out the door. One person handling passports, the other regular business. Waited over 25 minutes just to send a small package internationally. I was looking for a customs form to fill out but I couldn't find one. Asked one of the people working behind the counter for one this way I can fill one out while on line. One of the customers thought i was cutting her in line and had a fit. Relax there lady, forgot to take your chill pill this morning? Was told that I have to wait my turn to get a customs form. Every other US post office in America has them out along with every other single form. This specific post office had nothing out, all the slots empty of forms. Finally was my turn and the employee wanted me to step aside to fill out the customs form. I told her absolutely not, I'm filling it out now cause I'm not waiting another 25 minutes. She seemed annoyed but I was super quick so there was no reason for her to complain. Will NEVER go back to this location. read more

My husband and I have been going to the Scarsdale Post Office on Chase Road for over 31 years. We have always enjoyed pleasant interactions with the entire post office staff. On our recent trip there to mail a package and complete our passport renewals, the manager and the clerk could not have been nicer. I believe the manager's name is James - I hope this is accurate - and our clerk was Fakhrun Chowdhury. I went to this post office to mail packages to my husband who is currently deployed by the United States Army. All three of the cashiers proceeded to argue with me about the address of his location. When in fact I have mailed him multiple packages to the same exact address from the post office on Central Ave with no issues. They refused to accept my packages. If you are mailing anything to any military personnel do not waste your time here. Just go somewhere else. I cannot begin to express how disappointed and frustrated I am with this facility. It is such a disgrace that this United States post office, refused to send military packages to our United States servicemen and women. Shame on you. read more

Rude and Disrespectful people working there... If you are so miserable at work why not change your occupation? I can't believe I'm actually writing a review for a post office but my advice is go to a different location specially if you have any passport service needs. I called beforehand and was told for a passport renewal, there is no need for an appointment. So I bring my whole family with me one morning. The woman who stood by the front door asked and confirmed that yes we don't need an appointment for the renewals and told us to go stand on the passport line. Then, there's a white man working there who just started yelling at us that they can't accept our applications and was totally out of place for no reason. When I politely said to stop being so loud and rude and demanded an answer to why he couldn't accept and process our applications as we see other people getting their passport services done as we speak. That white male worker just kept yelling, they would not accept ours. Our kids were so traumatized witnessing this horrific unjustified treatment, we decided to go to a different nearby post office. Scarsdale's Post Office. Parking may be difficult at times, but the office itself has friendly staff and patrons.

During my life, I have learned that government offices are usually slow, and I stopped expecting anything from places like them. So I wasn't surprised to find that this post office follow the rules. My uncle needed to get the passport, and already booked a flight, and the thing I was worried about the most happened, they did not deliver on time. Now, I understand that things happen in life. But they could at least show that they care, and that they are willing to do anything to help us. But nothing. Eventually we needed to do everything our self to get the passport on time. They can and should improve their service. After all we are paying for the post office, so they can at least do their job, and little extra sometime will only do good to our world. read more

I was there to pick up my dads mail, my husband and I were both there once before and no issue. Last week this one particular person decide to exercise her "power" and gave me the 3rd degree. The letter was nothing special yet she almost did not give me the meal. Mind you this is Scarsdale not the South Bronx. My ID has my married name which was another issue. This is why people hate government-run entities. Tried to go to the 'passport event' today at the Scarsdale post office to get my child a passport. The combination of disorganization and rudeness was overwhelming. Just left in disgust. Dozens of people and screaming kids standing around with no one telling them what to do. No signs telling you which line to be on. Why send out a mailer advertising an event to the whole town when you are clearly not prepared to execute it properly? read more

Disorganized, rude staff. Had a 1:30 passport appointment and didn't leave until 3pm. It was supposed to be a 15 minute thing. Staff seemed unconcerned about the line of people waiting and took their sweet time. Very disappointed! read more

a quick trip to scarsdale included a trip to the local post office which is a non connected free standing brick building that belongs in a norman rockwell painting . i checked out most of the bad yelp reviews after i took care of business and i can honestly say that its improved overall from clerk service to the time you can expect to wait on line . the folks who work here dont have much of a outgoing personality but i did not experience any rudeness. i had to send a next day envelope on short notice and all the forms and flat rate envelope and other flat rate boxes were available at the side counter and with no one waiting on line i was able to fill out my form without rushing . i was in and out in less then 10 minutes which is not the norm at most of my post office visits when the self service machine is not used . an uneventful visit to the post office and i wouldnt want it any other way. read more

USPS tracking number information states my package was delivered (in/at mailbox) at 6:15 pm. Three days later I am still waiting for an update on its whereabouts because A) the mailing address was for my company, I was at work, we have no 'mailbox', and no deliveries were made/attempted at any time on the date listed under the tracking number. B) our regular carrier had been there earlier in the day...again, no packages. C) After three calls to SMPO and promises I would receive replies, I am still waiting for some type of follow up. With each call I make the staff becomes more surly. I would like to write the opposite type of review if/when this gets resolved, but the process they put customers through is quite the antidote to civility. read more

Multiple times the vendor shows my tracking of packages to have been in the Scarsdale post office and then my packages are never marked delivered. They disappear! Security cameras confirm no theft at my door step. Gift cards marked as such from my friends disappear! They never arrive. Manager there is useless, never calls back as she promises. I spoke to the Post Master and he hung up on me after telling me he hires people who don't know what they're doing. If vendors and amazon don't use Fedex or UPS, I don't order online anymore. Employees there don't even bother to look in the back for packages; they go in the back and pretend they looked when I can clearly see them chatting and not looking. Long lines with no care. Beyond awful service and blatant lack of accountability. read more

I'm sorry it's no MINUS 3-4 stars rating. I have had problems with this post office every year, but this time it went too far. Inadvertently, the post office forwarded my mail to an other address, although I requested them ON TIME to cancel forwarding and continue delivering my mail in Scarsdale, as usually. They forwarded my mail for more than one month, in spite of the fact that I was complaining few times a week for not receiving the important mail I expected. I talked repeatedly to the Postmaster, supervisor etc., but they kept denying it. Ironically, I was told they can't fabricate mail for me?! After contacting the out-of-state Post Office, they returned my forwarded mail, a big package with over 100 pieces of mail, most of them v. v. important, with deadlines which, evidently, I missed. It's no surprise that USPS and other Government offices are despised, avoided and on the brink of bankruptcy, if their employees have no responsibility and no respect for citizens who pay their salary. However, the Hartsdale Post Office is much better. read more
