I think we all have pretty low expectations for our experiences at the USPS. The thought of having to renew and apply for my families passports gave me anxiety. After visiting the Orange USPS and subsequently learning there that their system was "down", I opted for finding a new location to visit given the office in my town does not provide passport services. This Roseland post office is a small location with two windows. When I arrived for my 3pm appointment there was no line (the rep said they were busy with passport services during the day). The young lady at the counter assisted me with 3 renewals and 2 priority mail packages. These transactions went smoothly, without contention. She actually was quite friendly and professional, asking me to attest that statements in my application were accurate. The rep even made recommendations for the best rates to send my packages. She was even kind enough to multitask to assist other customers that came after me with smaller transaction while I completed my documents. The other male rep appeared to be friendly to other customers as well. Welp sorry, Roseland branch your secret is out, it was worth driving the 15 mins from Montclair to take care of my passport services. Simply put they did their job here. I wish I could give this post office 0 stars. It's a chore to come here. I leave miserable every time. The older guy here is the most angry, miserable, condescending, rude employee I've ever met. I can't imagine a scenario where they guy has ever been remotely pleasant to me. Make sure to bring your own supplies because they won't let you borrow anything to mail out (pens, a piece of tape, scissors, etc) I come prepared with a tool kit to mail a letter here because it's an arm and a leg and I get berated by him every time. I would travel miles to go to any other post office. Not only is the service terrible in store but our mail is constantly missing, never on time, and a regular sh**t show. It's a shame this is the post office in my town. Hate it with every fiber of my being. Didn't know I could hate a post office as much as I do. read more

"Charles" in Passport Services was not helpful. I had to (politely) correct him about information connected to naturalization documents, per my conversations with different sources and research on sites, including the State Department's website. I also tried to counter another piece of information he claimed I needed to show him. My experience seems to follow others who have tried to obtain information from this office. I try to have respect for civil servants; this individual refused to listen to me. read more

T.W. is an absolute i....t. Roseland post office is one of the top offices that processes passport applications. I had my passport application done there and the process was fast and the clerk was very knowledgeable and corteous. T.W. obviously is one of "those." read more

The employees are not knowledgeable at all about passport services and do not follow the US Department of State list of permitted documents in applications. When told that the Certificate of Naturalization is the primary ID for new citizens, not a NJ driving license, the manager said "you have your list, I have my list". How is it even legal what they are doing?! I have reported them to the Postmaster General and also US Department of State. read more

Always busy doing Passport applications/renewals. This station is too small, with limited staffing to handle this type of service, along with normal postal services. Second in line, waited 20 minutes, only to find they could not provide a receipt, as machine was not working. Line of other customers was out-the-door. read more

Horrible service. We were waiting for 1 hour + to do our passports, and were here from the opening. Multiple people cut us, and the employees let it happen. They said " I saw them yesterday" and let them go infront of us. Ever heard of a line? Go to a different post office unless you want to wait hours, do not recommend! read more

I wish I could give this post office zero stars. For the second time I have been verbally abused by one of the postal employees, Samantha. She basically called me a fool, told me no one wants to hear what I have to say, "good I hope you leave", "this stupid girl is asking the same questions as yesterday", and on and on. Never in my life have I been treated like this for asking a question. I am completely shocked that day after day they allow her to return to work here. I started going exclusively to Essex Fells but thought I would try Roseland once again, and of course ran into this lunatic. And I will agree with what another reviewer said; they process passports while a line of customers forms behind them without informing people that they will be tied up for a half an hour. read more

I took my parents here to apply for their passports on a Saturday, and the process ran smoothly. I made the required appointment online, and arrived 30 minutes before our scheduled time. They gladly took us in early and started the paperwork. Both staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful. My only problem was being processed at the counter and having a line of customers listen to our personal business. There is zero privacy!!! This post office is small and just as outdated as all the others. They have their own parking lot and there is also street parking available. read more

As a person whom specializes in global supply chain, I would say that I am being fair in stating that this USPS location is what we consider in the industry as "broken." The staff is unhelpful, unresponsive, and unfriendly. The only consistency this place offers if disappointment. To showcase that I'm not alone in this feeling, I reside in a nearby community. That community has a Facebook page where tenants share information relating to the city of Roseland. At least 50% of the posts are tenants asking each other if they received their mail or if anyone has found their missing USPS package. Someone needs to audit this location and hire some capable individuals that actually comprehend how to manage postal work. I'm looking forward to the day that I move from this city so that I know longer need to deal with Roseland's USPS unreliability. Shameful. read more

Awful environment and customer service here. Pete is one the rudest and most bitter employees I've ever come across in my life. He sighs when you ask him to do something simple (which is what he's hired there to do...) and speaks to you with a very condescending and rude tone. I'll never come here again. THEY ARENT ACTUALLY BRING PACKAGES But send THEM BACK this is REAL. I've been waiting for this package for 2 months, it said 2 days ago it was at the post office in town I've waiting but have gotten other stuff for famil in mail besides mine, it said it declined because it had NO phone number, NO address, no way they could as well get on property.. I have a ring camera showing no one knocked or even brought it but Besidd other things, THIS PHOTO SHOWS they were sending it back as well my NAME , NUMBER AND ADDRESS IS there !! Worst post office ever. Hopefully they get there shit together soon. Post master is also very rude. Tiffany is the only nice and helpful person working there. This is the 2nd time I've had to visit the post office because a package wasn't delivered. The clerk just flat out refused to even look for my package even though my tracking said it was delivered that morning. She was so rude and even said maybe it wouldn't be delivered Monday now since I was questioning why she couldn't just look for it. I left there quite upset. Roseland really needs to get its act together and hire some more friendly and competent employees. read more

I have to mail out a lot of small packages - as I unload baseball cards to other people it's the cheapest way to ship them. However, what I have found is that not every person working at every post office will charge you the same thing. It should be a simple thing...walk in, hand them the bubble mailer, weigh, put on postage and tracking, then pay. I have mailed stuff out...same weight - no variation in the weight or the size of the bubble mailer and get charged different rates depending on whether I drop off at the Harrison, Denville, Parsippany, or Roseland post offices. I now almost exclusively go out of my way on the way home from work to stop at the Roseland post office because the guy working here has consistently charged me the correct postage. Wish there was a cheaper way to ship, but until there is I will stick with the Roseland USPS office. read more

Worst post office ever. I went on vacation once and put my mail on hold. When I got back all of my items were strewn across my front yard. I have no idea why it did not occur to any of the post office that if the mail is obviously not being picked up then perhaps the owners are on vacation. Absolutely inexcusable service. I have now moved and the post office here is still making huge mistakes with our mail nearly every week. Items that should be forwarded are not being forwarded despite contacting the office several times over the last few months. read more

Do not go there for a passport! They take appointments, but when you get there it's a one man band that does your passport while a huge line creates waiting to make a purchase. The attitudes of the postal worker is horrendous! She will argue with you and have no fear for losing her jobs. STAY AWAY! read more

Went there to have my daughter's passport renewed (including picture) after the Bloomfield post office canceled on us TWICE in one week! We were somewhat lucky because there was no one else in front of us (our appt. was for 12:30 on a Monday), but regardless, they took us in right away, took care of all the particulars, and we were in and out in under 20 minutes with no fuss.
