That being said the other three times that I have been here I've been helped by the main office lady, who is consistently aggressive, non-informative, unprofessional, and basically refuses to help in any way until the police are called because she keept refusing to do anything, told me I could fill out the paper and it wouldn't be put in the system it didn't matter. That she blatantly refused to do her job even if I did what I was supposed to. all I asked was to change my address . The officer gave me the slip and I took it and Went to another office and it was done in 3 seconds. No information on how to do it from her, no information on how to change it , just said no. . I made an appointment on the website since they're open late on Wednesdays and went to this branch since it's close to home for me. I will say, it went a lot better than expected and the staff moved quickly with efficiency. lobby area is clean, staff is friendly and the lady that helped me was awesome. The location isn't huge, but was nice and seemed to be in good working order. They want you to check in but to be honest, there wasn't anyone at the booth when you came in, and no signs telling me where else to go. I figured this out after I saw another guy go to the window off in the corner and check in there. My appointment was for 5:40, but didn't get to the counter until about 5:50. They did tell me to arrive 10 minutes prior to my appointment, so I got there at 5:30. Probably one of the better experiences I've had. Not sure if the state of Michigan's gotten better or this locations just awesome, but after about 40 plus minutes, I was done. Once I was at the counter it was smooth sailing.

And if I'm standing there trying to explain a problem or phrase a question, they patiently explain which city office I need to go to and how to get there. They seem to be unflappable. Last fall I showed up one day at five minutes before closing to register a cat (yes, we gotta do that in B'ham!) - and there's some official paperwork and payment involved - yet no one rolled their eyes, sighed with irritation or looked at the clock and then glowered at me with disdain. Nope. This clerk was happy to serve a citizen. So it was after closing time by the time I was checking out at the city cashier across the hall, and the cashier was all smiles as well. After 5:00 p.m. and on a rainy day at that! They even wrote Calvin's name on the envelope containing his registration tag - and drew a paw on it. Really cute. Faith in government restored? Well, maybe not yet, but in my experience this is a five-star city clerk's office.

Our church, Lakepointe is officially apart of TEFAP, The Emergency Food Assistance Program. Which…read moreis a federally funded program which aids and assists low income and persons needing help filling their food needs. As the head of our food pantry at our church, it is my part to pick up the monthly supplies that the State has determined for us to receive. We were able to quickly get our paper work in to be considered for the month May, which is our supplies for June. I am over joyed to say that on the 4th Wednesday of May (pick up is the 4th Wednesday of the month) I picked up just over 1,500 POUNDS of food for our church, Lakepointe, to distribute in the month of June. I was so appreciative and thankful as the men helped this "new kid on the block", as the other veterans joke with me about. Being my 1st pick up, and a woman none the less, I was a little shy and uncertain of the whole process and was worried I was going to screw up the flow of things. But everyone was beyond helpful and friendly in making sure all the food made it into my Expedition- which it barely did! 1,500 plus POUNDS of food! Food that will help countless families in our community. Food that will secure a meal for men, women, children and elderly who may otherwise go without. I'm beyond grateful to be apart of Lakepointe Church and my food pantry and I'm grateful that our church was chosen for TEFAP. What a great courthouse! This is the district court in Macomb county and you are lucky to get to…read morecome here instead of the space port building in mt Clemens. (Though I won't call it a hive of scum and villainy). This is really a beautiful government building with a lovely fountain in front. When I was there it was peppered with seagulls and and ocean flavor to the air The service at the desk was clear and polite they have access to all the latest bits of technology Not difficult to find your way around either. In Small Claims Court if the judgement is in favor of the plaintiff, the plaintiff is entitled to damages and court costs. Just be aware that is NOT what the judge may actually award. We did not receive our court costs in full, only the filing fee, not the charge we had to pay the Process Server to serve the documents to the defendant. Just be aware!

A great small town police department steeped in tradition, history, and honor…read more They have a strong reserve police force as well as solid part and full time officers. The great Jim Leach set the foundation for this organization and his legacy lives on today. There's a new skipper at the helm and I know he'll do great things. I've never been arrested by the LOPD, but if I do find myself in that predicament, I'm sure it'll be a great experience.
