I love this post office - The staff are the friendliest I've met, and so very helpful. They actually seem happy to be working here.

I've been in here a few times over the years, and the staff always seem to take so much joy in their work. I went in today to mail something off, and the entire staff knew their regular customers by name. I have tried calling multiple times and cannot get anybody to answer. I sent a very expensive package to my son in Olympia. The driver states he delivered it to the door. Ring camera shows that he in fact did not deliver it. When driver was asked about it- he became defensive and said he delivered. He didn't deliver this package - at least not to my son. Sure, I can file a claim, but I will not receive the amount that was spent on the package. Not to mention, trying to replace the items in the package. When can we start holding these over paid workers accountable for NOT doing their job?? If someone received this package please give it to the rightful owner. I have called this post office multiple times over the past two weeks to try to figure out an issue with a package. I have a package being shipped to me that has come here twice now, marked as insufficient address, and had been returned to sender only to get bounced around the US. I am unable to get ahold of anyone or leave a message to simply have my package left at the post office for me to pick up. Do better. read more

I've got to say, it was surprising to see a Federal employee use such weak tactics to confuse me when it was obvious the post office failed on so many levels: 1) They lost the continued hold on my mail. They had my contact info, but no one knows what happened to my mail because someone moved into my old address. I told him I filled out the appropriate form in person at that post office, and he demanded to know the exact date. As I scrolled through my summer emails, he then shrugged off any and all accountability. 2) The verification of my ID failed: and he didn't believe me. I received the alert within 60 seconds of him scanning my email code and driver's license for verification to change address: "Unfortunately, we were not able to verify your identity and are not able to act upon your change-of-address request." I kept insisting that the verification of my identification failed, but he wouldn't believe me. The postman said I needed to wait more than a minute to check my email and then interrogated me about the validity of the time stamped email, even when I gave him my phone. He never validated my ID. 3) So my mail wasn't held, and my forwarding address never processed, so what should I do? He said the managers are busy with the carriers at the end of the day. They can't bother with me. I said I was a teacher. He said, "Come on your lunch break then!" I said, "It is only 30 minutes." He threw his hands up on the air and said there was nothing he could do. I said, "Hey, if you don't care, I don't care. I then went to the DMV and Vehicle Registry and changed it all in person. I recommend you do the same. read more

Whoever the representatives are that work for the passport services part of this post office are absolutely unprofessional. My husband went in to get a passport and instead of speaking to him in a professional manner, this individual yelled and dismissed him. Worst customer service ever. read more

My brother's ashes were to be delivered with signature required, yesterday by 6pm. They Are unaccounted for. I can't reach a human postal worker by phone. This is beyond unacceptable. Rude service when you are lucky enough to get service. I recommend not putting your mail on hold. I've tried it 3 times. The first all my mail was returned marked "Moved - no forwarding address" The second I asked for a two week hold. I put the request in on Tuesday to begin on Friday. My mail was held Wednesday and delivered on Thursday with my hold request. This time I asked it to be held for four weeks. I know the government doesn't give a sH*t about this review and I know it will not change anything because the government does not care what we think. But. This post office sucks. Big time. First off, parking is horrid. If you come during the day good luck finding a spot. Plan on circling numerous times. Secondly, the self serve kiosk is down more often than it is working. They are out of priority mailing boxes a lot. So, you have to go to the counter for help and stand in line for 10-25 minutes. But here is the fun part, the workers ask personal questions about what you are sending and then talk super loud without filters so everyone in line can hear. So you get to hear stories about the scarf being sent to Aunt Betty or the pistachios being sent to Kevin in college. These employees have zero voice level moderation. THe is always a huge line for mail pick up which is probably why the parking lot is always packed- those people are waiting forever while there cars take up spots for those running in or out. Also- just for giggles- try calling this post office. You will never reach a human being and you can't leave a voice mail because the boxes are always full. Super fun way to spend 30 minutes. I had Covid-19 and my Tumwater carrier returned ALL my mail. He and his manager at the Olympia Carrier Annex and the 900 Jefferson Street office where they return your mail claimed that my mail was not picked up for 15 days, which is an absolute falsehood! I have dated envelopes that correspond with my "Informed Delivery" proving otherwise. I spent two days calling the 800-275-8777, 360-704-4820, and 360-570-6300 numbers where I was asked to receive and respond to texts that cut me off before I could complete and then asked to wait for 34-51 minutes for them to return my call but they didn't return the call for 71 minutes and when they did and I answered--they hung up! So, I called again and this time decided to wait on hold--and waited for more than an hour and when someone finally answered---they too hung up before I could begin speaking. Mind you I am still struggling with Long Covid/Post-Covid, so not well. And I'm an elder/senior citizen! There is NO way to contact the USPS. I'm convinced they're intentionally making the service SO bad so that they can privatize it. In any case, back to my complaint--I had COVID-19 where you are advised that you are at risk of infecting others for 11 days after confirmation so not to go in public where you will expose others. Yet, the USPS claims that they can return your mail if you haven't picked up for 10 days. If you have Covid you aren't able to go into public places! When I had Covid in December and January I had to finally ask two different people to pick up my mail and leave it on an outside table for me. And the carrier didn't return my mail then. What happened in my case this month is the carrier plays his music with deep BASS so loudly that it vibrates my wood flooring and is a nuisance--especially disruptive to regaining health when one is sick and trying to recuperate. This has gone on many times and I've let it go, but as I was VERY ILL I asked him if he could please turn it down. But he glared at me and went off in a huff to turn it down. The next thing I knew he had returned all my mail claiming the box was full. If it was--it was because they had put parcels in there. I've not received two parcels so I suspect they were put into my "LETTER Box" as these carriers are wont to do. I contacted the companies that were supposed to send me my orders that should have been put in the parcel box, but they were never delivered to me, so I suspect he put them in the letter box and returned them. The carriers are too lazy to put parcels in the parcel box so they instead put huge parcels in our "letter boxes" that are intended for "letters" and fill them up and crush and tear our mail including birthday and holiday cards! I have countless photos of these huge parcels that have been put into my small letter box. Same with other tenants with whom I discussed the issues. Although I was never able to reach anyone at the Olympia USPS to discuss my issues, they must have received one of the attempted texts that the text app said failed, so I received a rude message from Andrea of the Olympia Carrier Annex that falsely claimed my mail had not been picked up for 15 days! I took a photo of the dated card left by the carrier in my mailbox and it was NOT 15 days! They will say and do anything to justify themselves. This is a SENIOR community where people do get ill and if the mailbox does get full the carriers could and should bundle it and place it in a parcel box as they do at other senior communities. But my carrier had a grudge against me and returned all of my mail including a critical secure identification card that I've waited nearly six months to receive from Indigenous Affairs, Canada, and will have to restart the process. This has been documented to OIG and will be addressed with the Federal Way USPS, but also with my congressional representative. Elders with Covid should NOT have their mail arbitrarily returned to sender by irresponsible carriers in a huff because some elder woman asked him to turn his LOUD pounding BASS music down. I've been meaning to advise her for some time about the letterboxes being filled with parcel packages that crush and tear our mail, but also the irresponsible conduct of the carriers who leave whole cluster units unlocked exposing our mail to theft. Not only that, our mail delivery is so irregular that mail does not arrive some nights until 8 or 9 pm. read more

I had a package delivered while I was away for Christmas. Evidently, there was a package slip left in my (or someone's) mailbox. I went to the P.O. with the tracking number and was told it had been picked up. When I told them I was out of town, they insisted whoever picked up the package was required to show a picture ID. Went inside to ask why the packages tracking hasn't updated and the guy stated that they had mail stolen out of that exact drop box and there's nothing USPS could do about it. Absolute BS. read more

Is there any quality control on USPS services? Weʻre paying for a service to the Post Office are they monitoring their services to insure they are providing quality services to their customer. If so, how do you check on mail getting lost? Some say, we need to send it certified. Why do you have to pay extra for services to insure your mail is delivered. Why is that? Shouldnʻt the USPS be checking on their quality of services and insure they are doing their job and insuring quality services? 2 Examples: 1.)I have sent two checks to a bank, in a bank envelope and both envelopes was never delivered. It was delivered directly to the Post Office to be sent out, from the Post Office and all who handled my two envelopes which was sent 1 at the beginning of the month of September, 2nd envelope same as first (sent in a bank envelope which stands out with color of green) was sent in October and never delivered to the bank it was sent to. The only hands that touched that mail was USPS, from the time it was dropped off at the post office and never to be received by the bank, two different dates. What happened to it. 2.) Pkg was sent to me with a tracker on it and tracker stated it was delivered to the Post Office, upon receiving the delivery made I inquired at the Post Office and they stated they donʻt have it?????? I have had nothing but trouble getting certified mail delivered to the door instead the delivery person just stuffs a slip in the mailbox when 3 of us have been home and the slip reads no one to accept the delivery which is a flat lie! One of the delivery people even lied and said our gate prevented delivery when we don't have a gate! Today I got a little text saying my Amazon delivery is undeliverable due to an incomplete address and I checked my address is correct and it's the exact same address that I use all the time! They want 30. cents to redeliver yet their website keeps declining both my credit card and debit card! I'm physically disabled so standing on their floors to get my mail is excruciating! I've ordered two packages now that were shipped through this post office and was given nothing but trouble. The first one they tried to claim there no secure place to put it so I gave them a pass but the second time around they tried to claim the address was incomplete when I ordered with the exact same address as previously with no errors. The delivery drivers are just lazy and trying to get out of doing their jobs. I've never had issues with any other carrier expect this one. This is not to mention that I have to go and get my order physically from the post office and wait in a line for a hour that goes out of the door. Like all Post Offices this one will lie to you and won't apologize if your package got lost or apologize when you mention that you had to come pick up your package because the postal worker who sometimes delivers your mail refused to deliver your package. When I mention it they always act like I must have been the one who did something wrong. There is never any accountability for mail people who do a crappy job. Also it annoys me that for some stupid reason the enter sign at this post office is on the left side when you enter even though the default for most Americans is to enter on the right hand side. I've seen issues arise from this. Also one day they didn't have the enter sign there and this was before I realized they usually do so one rude guy purposely almost walked into me because he knew about it and I didn't. He said to me this is the entrance as he rushed almost into me, causing me to have to stop moving so we didn't hit into each other. What's interesting is the customer service is often great for the post office National hotline for getting help and they will apologize over lost items and other issues caused by lazy or over worked postal workers. They are ridicules!! I live at Olympic Heights Apartments and our mail person refuses to deliver packages to anybody who lives here. Their protocol is to leave a pink slip in the mailbox and make every single resident drive down to the post office and wait in line to receive their package. This is absolutely absurd! All of the other services will deliver it to your door or they will take it to the front office where they will hold onto your package for you to sign and pick up. I've been there 4 times to try to submit a passport application. Either the passport office was closed, or they had shut it down for an entire week, or some other godforsaken issue. Finally someone told me I could make an appointment for this purpose. The soonest appointment was almost a month out, but I took it because what else can I do? Today is the 12th; my appointment is on the 14th. Today I get this email from them: Good Afternoon! We are sorry to inform you that your passport appointment will be cancel due to an office closure. We apologize for you inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. Please ignore the text reminder. You can re-schedule your appointment at usps.com/scheduler. Thank you, USPS TEAM ARE YOU SERIOUS. Seriously!!!!! And now it's almost another month until the next appointment. read more

I always have to come to this office to get supplies since the Lacey branch never seems to have boxes to use for Express Mail. The Lacey branch has more drop boxes to drop packages but never any supplies. This branch seems to always be well stocked. Unfortunately though, the drop box tends to fill up so once it's full it can't accept any more packages. Service has always been quick when I go here but I try to go at nonpeak hours. This office has everything you need to mail your packages. I like to use the automated postal center to mail things but I think there must have been a recent change where they don't let you mail or buy the postage for parcel post items. Nonetheless, I've never had a problem here even if I come late at night when the regular part is closed. read more

This is one of the worst government agencies I have ever dealt with. No wonder is is bankrupt. I send packages often, taking them in person to the post office and it sometimes take days for the package to even be scanned! What, do they wait until they have a truckload and then scan? We have been waiting for a certified letter since Saturday, we kept checking on updates and they kept postponing it. Now it is Tuesday and we looked in our mail box and it was there. This was supposed to be a certified letter that required a signature but UPS put in the mailbox that has be broken into on multiple occasions. For the most part, nearly no one leaves Yelp reviews for the post office following an average or even great experience. It's taken for granted. So I'll leave one. Following a pretty poor experience (and quite a number of perfectly acceptable experiences). For the most part my experiences here have been fine. But today was awful. Line was 30 minutes and nearly as many people deep. I just needed a package pickup that had been marked as "delivery attempted, held at PO for pickup at customer request" when a) no such request had been made, and b) I received 2 other USPS packages that same day and received no pick-up slip. No idea what happened, and frankly neither did the PO staff. After 45 minutes of other angry customers for various reasons I gave up and left and will put the onus on the shipper to resolve. That won't always be the case. I won't go into the detail of how disorganized everything was on this day because that would take paragraphs I don't want to spend any further time on. So why 5-stars? Because no less than two others in the the office today made remarks about how "awful" the PO was and that they now understood why it was being defunded. I call B.S. The USPS is the way it is (understaffed and overworked) BECAUSE it is being defunded and de-legitimized for political and business reasons, not the other way around. The USPS, considering everything it does and the volume and scale at which it does so is amazingly competent, all things considered. Overall the postal workers I deal with are professional and helpful and this organization needs the SUPPORT of the public. I would far prefer my package issue experience today than to have the USPS not be available in this country. No question about it. FUND THE POST OFFICE. The parking out front here says "20 minute parking." That's not enough. There are few postal offices IN THE WHOLE WORLD that are as slow as this one. No joke. You could put a roast on at home, go to this office and get home just in time to taste the succulent beef! to As far as the people, they seem nice. The post office said they would work with UPS to track it down (UPS have to post office to deliver) and they said it was weird because it was delivered on a Sunday at 5:30pm which they don't do. Standing in line here, you think of many things. You think, maybe this is karma, or maybe I should have been nicer to Mrs Crabapple, my second grade teacher. You think, wasn't it 11:15 when I got in line? But that makes no sense unless time is going in reverse because now it's 11:10 and I had to have been standing here for 20 minutes already. You see staff come back from or go on break, yet the line only seems to be getting longer. Now you start picking out the new people waiting in line who just queued up and muse to yourself "suckers!!!!! I'd hate to be you." Next thing you know it is your turn and you sign for your letter or parcel. You then realize you are only 125 minutes older even though it feels every bit of 686 minutes have passed and think thank you USPS!!!!!! read more

I visit this post office about once every two weeks to pick up my Amazon packages. The staff knows their stuff. They are all very knowledgeable. I just wished a few of them (not describing who, but people will know who I'm referring to) would use a more... interpersonal communication voice. I don't want the rest of the crowd in line to know my business and where I'm shipping things to. Secondly, their package pick-up line is not always open during rush hours, which creates a long line of people who are there to pick up their packages and others who need to ship things out and whatnot. Which leads to my third point... Third point: the parking situation is a mess. Probably because the package pick-up line isn't open, so more people and their cars are sitting in the lot. It's almost always busy and packed- which makes a simple package pick-up THAT much more frustrating. But, if you luckily drop by when it's not busy- the staff is friendly, warm, and knows the best way to take care of your packages and all things post office-related. read more

This post office never answers the phone. I tried for four hours and then got the message they were closed. I was trying to get them before a package they forwarded erroneously got sent to California. I called customer service (800 number) who gave me the Olympia post office would be able to intercept the package. Big joke since they never answered the phone. I have had several poor experiences at this post office. I only come here out of convenience, and I always regret it. Today was no different. A postal worker named Ben was working. I watched him yell at an elderly woman for not hearing him through his mask-- even though she kept apologizing and telling him that she's hard of hearing. Next he was disrespectful to 3 other women who asked for services. When I was my turn he was very short with me and was slamming papers around. Before I left, I suggested that possibly he was having a bad day, but that he's being very mean & it's no excuse for his behavior. He just stared at me and I left. I've lost track on how many issues we've had with our mail carrier. It seems like when I get a package through USPS, I have to track it down. 2x just this week I've had missing packages. Currently I have a package that's in someone else's parcel locker and I have 2 packages for someone else. It's getting very old! I live at Cambridge court apartments, whoever delivers the mail on this route has now lost 5 of my packages. They say they are delivered but yet I've never received them.
