However, if I live just .03 miles beyond the maximum delivery distance, is it really that much of a burden to simply deliver my packages? At the very least, extending the operating hours would help those of us who work for a living to send and pick up our parcels. I receive many packages essential for my job, and when I can NEVER GET THEM or cannot pick them up, it causes huge problems for my family and me. The most frustrating part is when I finally reach the post office, I have to stand there for hours, telling the clerk repeatedly to go back and locate my package, because for some reason they are eager to tell me "noooo we doughnut half eet" five times before finally finding it and handing it over. They did this with a Mac All-in-One desktop computer- the package was enormous, but it took them four attempts to find it. I don't think I have ever been more frustrated in my life! And this is just one of many ridiculous experiences I've had with the staff at this location. This town has a HUGE problem with hiring family members and friends instead of competent, serious workers who know how to do the job. There was no attempt I noticed as no one came to the door and nothing in the mailbox (the package was dog vitamins so no signature required thus the inspiration for this original review). After I gave the patient mailman an earful and he was polite to hear me out, he left and about an hour or less later he came back with my package and personally delivered it to my address. Now that is impressive! He said he was actually a supervisor out helping out on the route. I wished I would have asked for his name but he was excellent and made up for the bad experience of a twice delayed package. That is service at its best and I can't say enough about how great that truly is!! One of the gifts listed on the customs form was a watch. Post office employee said I can mail the watch but not the watch battery inside the watch. I said what's the point on mailing the watch if our service member can't use the watch. She said they could just buy a battery. I said this is a care package going to a service member in an area of the world where they can't go to the local store and get a watch battery. She said it doesn't matter to her who it's going to, can't send a watch battery.
