Being as this is my "home" Post Office, I'm going to give them an extra star just to show some local love. But as far as Post Offices go, this one is just like any other you've visited in the past four decades: outdated, inefficient, long lines, etc. etc. etc. On a recent visit, I was there for over an hour and had to stand in line TWICE to get something mailed. Honestly, it was ridiculous. I had tried to use the self-service machine in the lobby which, while still utilizing technology from the 1980s, is still usually a more efficient way to send a package. When the machine malfunctioned, I stood in a long line to try to send it at the counter; but instead the ONE person working there informed me she would send a manager out to fix it since my package wasn't pre-addressed. (I had been planning to print out the address on the label at the machine....argggghhhh.) I waited about 10 minutes for the manager to come fix the machine. When he finally arrived (looking annoyed), he announced he couldn't fix it. So I had to GET BACK IN LINE for another 20 minutes (and bum a pen off of another patron) to finally mail my package. Really, this whole thing should have taken no more than 10 minutes. Anyway, the USPS is what it is. My package arrived safely and I guess that's all that really matters. Terrible office. Local employees (particulary eskimo Alaskian native lady) openly discriminate people by refusing to provide them mails and packages ontime, don't serve them while in line and demonstrate unprofessional rude behavior. I see why this post office has low ratings. Definitely will not return here, I'll drive to Burlington before coming back in here. When my daughter and I walked in, 3 women were behind the counter, and only 1 had a customer. They all were engaged in their own conversation, and not one of them asked if we needed help, even though we were clearly standing there, needing to ask a question. When I finally just asked if we needed to pay for the box prior to packing it, before I could finish my sentence, the overweight white women says in a very nasty manner, you have to pay for it first, implying that I was trying to steal it or something. And by the way, obviously that wasn't the case because the Asian lady that actually checked us out told us to use the smaller packing and once we packed it all up, then she rang us up. Mount Vernon Post Office located on Cleveland Avenue is the worst I've ever seen! Very poor service with regards to receiving mail on time, or at all. I have reason to believe that the carrier has taken bribe money to steal my mail, both incoming and outgoing, very important mail to several Government Agencies. They have also labeled my mail "HOLD FOR REVIEW" for some reason. When I asked the Postmaster what that label means, he replied that it was put there in error and it meant nothing. WRONG!!! Other people were going to the post office and picking up my "HOLD FOR REVIEW" mail. In addition to all of the above, they let someone forward my mailing address to their own address in order to obtain a lost/stolen drivers license. My drivers license was NOT lost, but now I have some Lady in town who somewhat resembles me, using my ID to obtain pain medication with stolen prescription documents. This post office needs to be re-staffed, or shut down all together. These are Federal Crimes!! read more

The delivery driver never brings my packages to my house, I always get a pink slip saying "cannot deliver." Every other delivery company delivers to my doorstep except USPS, and it's getting very aggravating having to drive down to the office once a week to get me packages. read more

I LIVE IN THE SKAGIT HIGHLANDS COMMUNITY I AM MISSING A PACKAGE. I find it hard to believe that a mail carrier can make so many mistakes. But she does! I have not received letters my sister has sent to me, I have NOT received a major package of a professional multi makeup case . This is tiring. I have not gotten some important bills what is up here? Very friendly service. The clerks at the front were super friendly and so were the customers. I needed passports for my children with photos and Kitty was very helpful and personable. where the hell is our mail, for the 20th time this year? Avon Allen is the worst for getting mail . there are many days in a row we don't get mail. Why? I am only giving a poor review because I am aware of a mail carrier, who delivers in downtown Mount Vernon, that has hit on an employee at a local coffee shop. I found it very distasteful to ask him out while she was working. I don't know her name, but she is pretty young, has a fake tan (in February), and long hair. Was delivering late in the day. The carriers here in mount Vernon are the worst. My neighbors and I are constantly delivering each others mail and packages. I've received paychecks, social security checks, packages and everything else in between. I've had packages delivered to wrong addresses and never received them. Now today I go to pick up my package in the parcel locker and guess what. No key in my mailbox. Looks like someone else is getting a $300 jacket for the new year. My packages never come to the door. I always find them out in the drive way. 2000$ pice of electrical equipment smashed all too hell, this item is completely worthless now thanks to the carelessness of the delivery people. I just moved to the neighborhood and had my kids 2 Nintendo switches suddenly vanished from the facility. Horrible place with suspected mail theft by their employees avoid sending your mail to this place. They do not care for your packages and do not even deserve your respect! Lets see how long it takes for them to investigate this place. They claim packages are scanned into the facility but then cannot be found by delivery personnel who created pink slip ticket or supervisors who are responsible for their employees. I have lost more letters out of the Mount Vernon Post Office than any other post office in Skagit County. Not sure the reason, but it needs to be looked into. Tired of getting call from utilities/cards services looking for their payments. Should have to double & triple check with companies to make sure my check arrives, really sucks and takes up valuable time doing so. Piss poor service. One lady working, she takes her sweet slow time helping the customer in front of me. She does not rush, even when 5 other people get in line behind me. No other employee comes out to help. When it is my turn she does not help me with my problem at all and is totally unapologetic. This is why I avoid this post office at all costs and will go out of my way to find another PO. read more

Just moved here, got a mailbox and have already had 3 incidences of very poor customer service. The first one was when the mail clerk wouldn't let me rent a mailbox, although I had all the necessary information. Finally, when he saw I was upset, his manager entered the scene and said everything was fine, and to let me purchase the box. Second incident, I had been waiting 2 weeks for bank checks to be sent to this new address. When I went to my bank to ask them, if they had been mailed, they said to check the post office as they had been mailed over 2 weeks ago. So I went back to the post office, got the same mail clerk, and said I never received my checks, nor did I get a yellow slip in my box stating I had a larger package in the back. He says, "Let me check in the back." And sure enough they had been sitting back there for many days, and I had never received notification. Immediately he yelled, "I cannot give these to you without proper identification!" He was very rude and disrespectful. Then the third incident was today, when I was mailing out a letter which needed extra postage. I simply asked a woman mail clerk to please weigh it, to see how much more postage I needed. She said, "you need another stamp". So I asked if it only weighs a little more over standard fee, why would I need to pay for another .49 cent stamp? Can you weigh it again, and let me know how much more postage I need? So she weighed it again, and said, "that will be .21 cents." She was also very rude and disrespectful. I do not normally complain about anything...but this rudeness has happened 3 times now. I now dread going into the Mount Vernon, WA. post office on Cleveland Ave. Customer service sucks! Being new to this area, its definitely not a very welcoming experience, or good example of what I originally thought was a very friendly community.
