Eh.... My least favorite place to go. Always understaffed and always a long line. Every USPS I go to is the same story. If anyone knows a well staffed, quick-serviced USPS, please let me know!! With that being said.. this post office is on the smaller end.. Usually only one customer service worker up front. Sometimes two... Let me tell you..the lines can get quite long. Since this location is somewhat small, they also have a smaller selection of post office supplies than other ones I've been to. The selection of flat rate boxes, priority boxes etc...are pretty bare. Tip: you can order USPS shipping supplies online at no cost. It does take almost 10 days to get to you, but you can order a bunch of stuff that you can't find in store. Also, if you ship priority, make sure to use their tape. Don't waste your money on tape. If you go at less busy times, this place can be wonderful, but..if you run into issues..be ready to WAIT! I've waited 45+ minutes here before... Especially when you run into people who's getting their passport. If you live near the U campus, it might be a better option to go to the one in Coffman. That one is better staffed, but not a lot of shipping supplies.. probably less than this one here. With that said, USPS usually delivers the cheapest shipping...so the wait is usually worth it. So if you got time..come here. read more

The employees at this Post Office are so nice and helpful! I have always been surprised by the level of wonderful customer service they provide. Just today, I dropped off my wedding Save the Dates and asked the employee to verify I had enough postage. The employee (an older gentleman) was so sweet! He congratulated me and wished me the best of luck which I thought was very lovely. My one piece of feedback for this particular Post Office is to repave your parking lot. I despise this post office because it has wasted me plenty of time. One time I waited in the line for more than an hour to mail a package. Do you believe that? Have I always been there at the wrong time? I don't think so. I think I've been in the wrong place. It has nothing to do with time! I've been there in different hours of the day. There has always been a long line. Go there at 4 pm and you could easily wait for an hour before you're helped. I think the rate of people who simply give up and turn away from the line is ten times as high as the dropout rate of the worst online college in the country! There usually is only one person who helps customers. And it's obviously not enough. I'm not saying it's the tellers' fault. The tellers who work there in different shifts are very helpful and do their jobs as fast as they could (It's only because of them that I give this place two stars!). The problem is that this place is severely understaffed. Can't the manager on duty put one of the three personnel who come to the front counter every two minutes and ask "Is someone just dropping off something or picking up something?" behind a cash register to help customers? Next time I'll drive to a further post office. It doesn't matter this further location has no parking, it doesn't matter it's not close to home. I no longer want to waste my time in lines! read more

Very convenient location for folks at the U, and also has a very friendly staff. I've had a couple times where I've forgotten to tape or cut something prior to me getting there, and they've been willing to help me out (other post offices I've been to have been more of a stickler for that). Not very long wait times, and a friendly staff. I just wish this location (and all post offices) had longer hours on the weekends. Am I the only one who wants to ship out packages at all the times they are closed?? Basically anytime past 2pm on the weekends they are closed. Other than that, I can't complain much regarding this post office! Happy that this location is 100 yards from where I live. read more

Wow, our friend Sarah M who first reviewed the University Station post office was PISSED at the entire USPS. I hope she got into graduate school and got off the streets. And if she didn't, I don't think it's the humble fellows and dames at 2811 University who should be to blame. This is a great post office. Short lines, easy parking, efficient workers. This post office is a hit or miss. I come here often because I have a PO box. Depending on the time, you can be in and out quickly. As it nears closing time around 3-5pm the lines start to get long. Most days there is only one attendant. That sucks when you're waiting forever just to pick up a package! The staff is usually friendly and helpful. They have mailing supplies (both free priority boxes and the fancy cute kinds that you have to pay for) and PO boxes available for purchase. They have blue drop off mail boxes for smaller items 13 oz or less, two curbside and one inside. I wish they had an APC so all of us technology advanced people can pay for postage on our own and get out of there fast. I usually just pre-pay online and come to drop off my packages. It goes much quicker this way. The location is convenient. Near the U of M campus next to a Chinese restaurant. They have only a row of parking spots so when you're there during busy hours you have to wait in their narrow lot! There is a USPS on campus inside Coffman and that one is even busier. I ventured a bit down university ave and there is another one but I didn't like the atmosphere of that one. read more

Staff are pretty friendly but if there are a lot of people the line can get very long because there is usually only one staff member. I usually go before the post office closes and usually there are about 3-4 people in line. Would not recommend coming here if you are in a hurry to go somewhere soon after. read more

Just had the worst customer service experience of any USPS, UPS, FedEx type location. My wife and I are avid eBay and Amazon sellers and use this location primarily and have a PO box and have never had any issues using this facility until today. I am a stay at home parent and as soon as my wife came home I took off because I know they close at 5PM. I get there out of my car at 4:57PM according to my Tmobile phone service (this is important). I have 4 packages, 3 prepaid and 1 needing first class postage. There is an older blonde woman I personally have not seen before because usually all our packages are prepaids so we don't have to deal with lines. As I walked through the doors to the customer service area, which were wide open, she yells that "we close at 5PM sir!" now, I know she's wrong because it can't possibly have been 3 minutes from the curb to the 30 feet into the area.... I look up at the cheap $10 clock on their wall and it has a hand on 5:03PM... clearly set ahead... unless this cheap battery clock has access to some atomic world time ahead of cell towers connected via 4G. I don't want to argue with her since she obviously looks upset as if she's having some terrible time with her current customer or some terrible day of sorts. So I ask if I can just drop off my prepaids (usually the personnel just have you place it at the end of the counter and they throw it into some bin for the processors etc, not that big of a deal since everything is ready). I don't think she heard me because she was mumbling seemed like having trouble or frustrations. So I asked a second time that they're already paid, I can just leave them. Now it gets to the fun part. So apparently the new policy in addressing customers that arrive with prepaid packages just wanting to drop them off is to give them the hand. Now There are few things more infuriating than arriving on time and getting horrible customer service and rudeness then get the straight hand and ignoring gesture as if I'm whatever issue that ruined her day. Every other customer service rep I have dealt with hear has always been courteous and I don't understand how me asking if I can leave prepaids causes a breakdown in customer service to treat customers as if they're worthless. I'd like to know what this time policy is of having their clocks ahead, and refusing customers who have already done your job for you. I hope this USPS facility isn't on its way downhill when they have to resort to hiring personnel that can't handle their jobs or easy customers. edit: This occured at roughly 4:58 PM on Tuesday, January 17 2017. read more

WORST. SERVICE. EVER. When you pay $20 to OVERNIGHT ship an important package because you want to get into graduate school, you expect them to get it there the next day, right? Well, mailed out on a Tuesday the intended OVERNIGHT package was meant to go to Seattle, WA. Where was it on Wednesday morning? SAN ANTONIO TEXAS. Yes, they sent it to the completely wrong state. When I called they said they had missent it and would refund me and my package would get there the next day. Why did I bother paying for overnight when you can't even get it there overnight? I'd be even more frustrated if it had to have actually been there the Wednesday, fortunately I was working with a 3 day buffer, but still, if you pay for overnight service, it should get there overnight. The USPS has the most incompetent system and workers. No wonder you are loosing money, you can't get anything right. read more

Service is pretty terrible with long lines. Occasionally I've had good service from the one sunny, young woman who works there and began recognizing me when I shipped stuff, but most of the staff fit the post office stereotype of grumpy and understaffed. I've been to better post-offices in Minneapolis. read more

I was trying to track a package I sent to my son from Florida. I saw online from my tracking number that it was marked "undeliverable" so frantically I called the post office closest to his apartment. I was given the phone number to another postal location (2811 University Ave SE) and got the most wonderful employee who not only patiently took all my information (from a fretting mother) but searched for the package personally and called me back to discuss delivery options. They were going to hold the package until my son could pick it up. Crisis averted - thanks Minneapolis USPS!! read more
