Whenever I have gone inside to drop off PREPAID packages to the counter, I always get dirty looks from the people who have been standing in line for a long time. It looks like I'm trying to crowd ahead of others. It gives me the creeps. Unfortunately, there is no designated spot to drop your package off except to immediately go left to the counter after you enter. Once the postal lady finally looks at you, you loudly have to say "Prepaid," and she points to the counter without saying a word. Then carefully go around the angry people in line and get the heck out of there. If you go to the USPS website, they urge you to USE their prepaid service because it is quicker and easier, with no standing in long lines! But when you get to any post office, there are NO SIGNS where to place your package. This is a problem at every post office that I have tried. The counter area is usually a non-supervised place. I don't want my packages to be stolen or lost or forgotten. Then you have a whole set of new problems. I definitely do not enjoy going to a post office to mail anything. I won't even mention the attitudes of some of the employees.

The Biscayne Historical Marker was sponsored by Eastern Airlines in cooperation with the Historical Association of South Florida. Eastern Airlines was dissolved in 1991 so this marker has been here quite awhile. You can find the marker next to Biscayne Bay in Miami Shores Village Bayfront Park. I have learned so much about Florida history from markers all over the state. The Biscayne marker recounts how Biscayne became Miami Shores. In the early 1870's William H. Gleason and William H. Hunt founded the community of Biscayne. They established the Biscayne Post Office and Biscayne became the county seat and the meeting place of the county commission. Other early Biscayne settlers included Ephraim T. Sturtevant, Andrew Price, Edward Barnott and Dr. Richard B. Potter. Mother of Miami, Julia Tuttle was a frequent visitor. By 1888 the post office had closed and many residents left the area. The area saw a boom in 1892 when the first county road, from Lantana to Lemon City traversed through Biscayne reopening the post office and adding a school and railroad depot. Miami Shores was incorporated on January 2, 1932 and now what was once known as Biscayne is Miami Shores.

This post office is the worst in any type of service. The employees at this center need to take…read moreetiquette classes. They are all so rude and disgusting. If you call their telephone number (305) 687-2484, it continuously rings/rings and shortly, goes into a busy signal. What I learned, is that they lower the volume on all of the phones, with the exception of one phone in case a Supervisor or Manager calls from the USPS postmaster. CANNOT wait until they start closing these facilities and all of the lazy ass ppl lose their jobs. After living in my neighborhood over 30 yrs - FPL contacts me to tell me that my address is wrong and they couldn't deliver my bill. When I check my address on the website (FPL) it is correct. I figured that the lazy ass POSTAL worker either put it in the wrong mailbox or simply sent it back. MIND you, it is the same carrier for over 6 yrs and she hates her job. Whatever happen to having pride in your job? For the most part, this place needs to be removed along with the lazy ass employees.

If you go early enough you usually won't have a huge wait. However there's usually only one person sometimes two to help. I've had one or two ladies that were helpful but there's one person no matter the time of day, no matter how nice and the biggest smile you can put on, she's just rude. And because you need her for your mailing needs you just have to put up with it. I'm the kind of person who likes the challenge of making someone smile even if they've been having a tough day. I hate to put every office under the same bucket, but until my visit to this location, all of my previous visits have not been pleasant at all. It seems the workers are always in a bad mood, giving attitudes to people and simply hating life. So coming here and finding workers with big smiles, and actually helping people without any kind of bother was very refreshing. The two workers I encountered on this visit were total troopers and very pleasant people to deal with. Keep up the good work!

The 2,287-square foot building at 4000 Northeast Second Avenue, which was the former site of the Billionaire clothing store, sold for $3,553 per square foot to a New York-based investment group that represents foreign investors, Chariff Realty Group President Lyle Chariff told TRD. The buyers are part of the same group that purchased Power Studios in the Design District from Chariff and his partners in June 2015. Chariff and Steve Budin, CEO of Sportsinfo.com, were the sellers. Chariff said he had a 10 percent stake. They purchased the building for $479,000 in July 2003, meaning it sold for nearly 16 times its purchase price in just under 14 years. Built in 1921 by Buena Vista's original developer David P. Davis as a post office, the neoclassical building sits on a 3,375-square-foot lot.

White from Georgia and North Carolina. Along with Lemon City and Little River, Upper Buena Vista is one of the oldest settlements in Miami. Many of the homes here date to Florida's land bloom years of the 1920's when the first subdivisions were built. Tampa developer and architect David P. Davis partnered with pineapple plantation owner Theodore V. Moore to develop two investment properties in Buena Vista. Davis designed both buildings but he only paid for one while Moore paid for the other. Designed in a masonry vernacular style, Davis' building became the Buena Vista Post Office with neoclassical design elements. Moore's building was built in an L shape around the post office. The south portion of the building was completed in 1922 and the north portion was completed in 1926. Moore gave up his pineapple plantation for commercial development. In the 1930s, he opened the T.V. Moore Furniture Store in his building and both the Buena Vista Post Office and Moore Furniture Building anchored the growing neighborhood. On August 4, 1924, the new town of Buena Vista was incorporated only to be annexed by the City of Miami the next year. At that time the post office ceased operation. The building as since served a variety of purposes through the years including a city hall, municipal courthouse, tire store, insurance office, restaurant, and clothing store. In 2017, the building sold for 8 million dollars. There is a sign on the building that lets you know that this summer it is going to be the luxury Swiss watch maker, Patek Philippe. The Moore building is now an event venue. There is a historic marker detailing the history of the buildings in front of the post office.
