I decided to go to the office, the guy behind the counter who I originally stayed on hold for 10 minutes before driving down, was on his cell phone browsing, well he said they have rules they have to follow and said a postmaster would contact me the next day. They didn't make any attempt to redeliver the following day and the call from the postmaster never happened. This is my first experience with Cashmere USPS.

It makes a world of difference when someone is nice. And the people at the Carnation post office are genuinely nice. When I moved in, I had to put a hold on my mail because I needed to get a mailbox at one of those mailbox blocks (I moved to a rural area) and it took a little time. By the time I picked up the mail I had a TON of it. Was there a problem with the post office - no, not at all. There were smiles on faces. AWESOME!! Niel has always been most helpful and resourceful with all my questions and needs. He is always polite and remembers most customers by their first name. He is extremely knowledgeable and advises everyone with a smile. READ THIS- the owner was unable to ship it, so she offered to take it to fed ex on the way home. If that is not amazing (and kind!!) customer service then I don't know what is. THEN- I had return after getting half way up Blewett Pass because the folks I had faxed needed a copy of my drivers license faxed. So I drove back. The gal at Das Copy Shop, again, was super nice. She made a color copy of my license and faxed it. The she wouldn't take any money for it. Her comment, "You've already spent enough." This is the small town kind of stuff I love about Leavenworth.

While I waited with my puppy the Brett and Sons driver pulled into the handicapped space and came in to collect packages. There was an empty spot on the other side of my car, maybe eight feet further from the door. I called Brett and Sons and their response when I asked if they allowed their drivers to park in the handicapped spots was "yes, if they're in a hurry." I said it's illegal. He asked how long the driver was inside. I said not the point, it's illegal. He said he would talk to the driver but it is quite obvious this is an unwritten company policy. Shame on them!

I sent someone down from Chelan to Wenatchee to retrieve the needed part. Brett and Son's truck did not show up by closing time of the store and when the driver of the truck was contacted, he indicated that he did not have the package on his truck. We checked with the shipping source in Yakima and they advised that the item had been placed on the truck. Apparently the driver lost the package. We incurred the expense of sending someone on a 2 hour round trip to pick up a package that Brett and Son's lost. Very frustrating and expensive.

Just for fun, I pulled up USPS.com to see what it would cost. $5.25 for 2-day insured, alerts and trackable - and they even provide a free small box to send it in. Took just a few minutes to register an account and print my pre-paid label. I give their web site 5-stars - you can do just about everything here. Then I took my return item and prepaid label down to our Chelan Post Office. Even though the shipping box would be free, I was told to bring my own strapping tape, because they sell that. When I got to the office, the postmaster saw me waiting, opened another window. He took my label, folded together the flat cardboard box, inserted my return stuff, sealed the box, and even offered to attach the label for me. This is the Post Office- folks. 5-stars for the web site. 5 stars for customer service at Chelan P.O. Maybe there is hope for USPS after all - this is a Big Step in the right direction.
