Took 2.5 hours to get 2 passports/ photos with an appt. Go somewhere else and bring your own photos.

We made a 3pm appointment to get our passport and arrived 10 minutes early. There was only one person there, and he told us that the person who does the passports was on "lunch" and would be back in 20-30mins. We asked ~3:30 and was told the person was still at lunch. We waited for over an hour in total, at which point there was a huge line for the one person so we couldn't even talk to him again. We gave up. Completely ridiculous, don't get a passport here. read more

Best location for a post office, historic union station. This review is only on general use, sending off packages, I have not used the po box option. I appreciate that they close at 6pm. I appreciate that when the line gets long another postal worker stories up to the counter. Obviously even with all register going during the holidays their will be a wait. The workers themselves are fast outs usually the customers holding up the show. I appreciate that if someone gets to the register and hasn't filed out addresses or other needed info you will be asked too step aside till ready. Lets keep the line moving folks and don't act like you don't know how it all works. A couple times I've seen the customer get short with the worker but they kept their cool. Shout out to the PS workers at Union Station, way to keep it classy. read more

Sent a total of 3 basic letters. First time as regular mail. Second time as the ensured mail and third time as ensured overnight. Not a a single one made it to its destination. In fact, the third one was supposed to be delivered an hour away. Yet, somehow it got sent across the entire state. Then it was shipped off to a completely different state. The next update showed the letter got destroyed somehow. No idea how apparently, despite it being in USPS custody the entire time. Spoke with the post office which yielded no solution and a bunch of "I don't know" responses. Not to mention the employee was rude and essentially called me an idiot. Furthermore, despite paying for the insurance on the letter (which contained a money order) they're refusing to fix the issue or assist in any way. USPS is useless and I'll never use them again. read more

This post office is located in such a beautiful building that it's a shame my review can't be better. The Union Station office also has the best hours of the KC post offices (opens at 0730 on weekdays), so that's a huge plus if you aren't in the mood to wait around for the others to open. Now for the bad part... The signs all say that it opens at 0730. Nope, the gates didn't open until 0740. Some of you will think I'm impatient, but if you work a 12 hour night shift, the last thing you want to do in the morning is mess around with the masses at the post office. Once the gates opened, there was a flood of customers who were quick to pop into line in front me. Okay, I get it, "you snooze, you lose"... I obviously should have paid more attention to the 6-8 customers who were waiting to get in. I figured it wouldn't be a long wait in the line, but I was wrong. There was only one lady at the counter who was doing the outgoing mailings. To top things off, she was a complete BEYOTCH. Yep, I don't know that I've ever called anyone such a name in any of my reviews, but she deserves it. I get that you are a disgruntled employee and it's close to Christmas, but that doesn't mean you need to take it out on me. As I was hurrying to check out, the little card swipe thing asked me if I needed cash back. Since she hadn't asked me and there's not a button on there to select "no" (and I'm used to telling them "no" at other post offices), I went ahead and told her I did not need any cash back. She promptly told me "I don't have any cash for you anyway, it's too early." Well thank god I wasn't needing any! I'm avoiding this post office unless it's one of those times I just can't wait for the others to open. The only reason I gave it two stars is because of its more convenient hours. read more

The idea of reviewing the post office seemed a bit strange to me until I had to go through the ordeal of getting my passport. This location is one of the only locations in Kansas City that allows you to do it all and take the photographs right there. the guy that was helping me did take FOREVER but the job still got done, so... I can't REALLY complain, there, can I? This location is clean. Not usually too packed. The staff is helpful and thorough. This location is convenient to my employer so I come over here on occasion. Every dang time I come here, someone behind the counter is having a bad day or just a bad attitude or they don't like their job or...I don't know what, but, I'm getting tired of it. As a person who has faithfully supported the post office and its employees for years, I'm getting fed up with the surly attitudes and the rudeness. The service is generally slow and just not very pleasant. I guess that's just what I have to expect from this location. Of course, the location in downtown KCK is just as bad. read more

ZERO. Why do you make people stand in line to obtain a priority mail sticker, to get out of line to fill it out and then make them get back in line to wait again??? This location is really close to my job. It's actually in walking distance. I appreciate the fact that they have a self service machine. It helped a lot to get an idea of the weight of my letter. The downside was that for whatever reason the machine would not read my debit card so I ended up in the line anyway. It was the end of the day so the line was relatively small so I didn't mind. Now dealing with the workers was a different situation. I had already weighed the letters since I was attempting to send them with the self service machine. When I got to the window, the worker was somewhat argumentative with the weight. I'm all for experience but she kept telling me that my letters were overweight and would be more than the regular first class postage. I explained that I had just weighed them and I was aware of how much it cost to mail them. When she finally put it on the scale, she came to the conclusion that I had gotten the correct total from the self service machine. After a few more tussles mentally with her over postage, the transaction went smoother. Now despite all of this one instance, I've had no problems with this post office. I'm a frequent fan of their off hours self service and even when I have had to speak with someone, generally speaking, they've been more than kind and willing to help anyone that comes it. The environment and the staff would normally have gotten a 5 from me because I've been to other Post Offices and they just have not been as efficient for me. As a matter of fact, this is my second favorite post office (I do a lot of mailing) but this experience and me witnessing this employee's interaction with the people in front of me has tainted my love just a bit. read more

Love queuing up and standing in line? Then you'll love this post office! This is one of two post offices I use. Never ever have I not waited at least 15 minutes. As more people show up, then they pull one of the counter guys off so that the wait is even longer. This has happened pretty much every time. Expect to wait. On the plus side, they are the only post office open "late" on Saturdays - until 3:30 pm. Expect a bigger line. read more

Which by nature is going to frustrate you at some point just because the system was broken when it was planned out 50 years ago (I'm making these numbers up but you get the point). The good thing about THIS post office is that it's in Union Station and no sane human can walk through Union Station and not look up and be amazed at the grandeur of that building - and it never gets old. The positive of this location is that they open before 9am. With the elimination of self serve machines, trying to send something has become a total pain. I really don't understand the postal service eliminating revenue options, especially when those revenue options also eliminate the cost of employees, but hey whatever works for them. If you arrive early, this location isn't pretty accessible. As the day becomes later, it can be difficult to find parking and you also have to make your way through Union Station. While not convenient at all, they are open during hours that actually work for people. read more

Crap service for a forced fee (tax). Not a lot of options as a "consumer" as I can't go elsewhere. Today: 4 pieces of mail we received were all for different addresses. Meanwhile, the one item we were tracking stated "attempted delivery at 8:10 and unable to deliver." Total bs as wife was home then. Further context...we go all week with no mail when we know we should be getting bills etc. So sick of this and no whenever we complain about this recurrent issue we get patronizing and dismissive response from entitled, union, government employees with no accountability. My epiphany: In my semi retirement I plan to work for IRS or postal service and do a crap job and get paid back all the taxes these SOBs have sucked out of me all these years. read more

Ever since the Post Office moved from across the street to Union Station, they have been wasting my time in exciting and creative ways. Here is a brief account of the latest debacle: I go to the P.O. to mail a single package. For some reason I needed an actual person to mail the package, and was unable to use the automatic kiosk (I think the package was slightly too big for the drop slot). Anyway, I get in line. There is one couple being helped in front of me, I think they were getting dealing with passport issues. After a few minutes dealing with them, the only employee there takes the couple into the back. Meanwhile, there is a woman training a group of 15-20, presumably new, postal employees about 30 feet from where I am standing. Fast-forward to 15 minutes later. There are no other employees behind the counter. A few more people have queued up behind me. The woman conducting the training session asks the trainees "Does anyone have any questions?" I raise my hand and ask if I can please get someone to help me, since I've been standing here for 15 minutes. she comes over, looks behind the counter, then tells me she can't do anything. I leave and go to one of the many P.O.s in town who can acutal provide service with a modicum of competency. F.U. U.S.P.S. read more

I tried a couple numbers listed on the USPS.com site (one of them listed on here_ but could never get ahold of an actual person. I finally went to the post office to talk to someone in person. We went to get our passports on a Saturday and the woman working behind the counter could NOT have been more rude. There was only one person in line (other than us) and we let him go ahead of us because it was apparent that he was only mailing a package. The troll of a woman working there heard us say that we were getting passports and YELLED at us across the room "Well, if you don't have an appointment, you're not getting it today!!" My husband and I looked at each other, but held our tongues. Once we approached the lady, we kindly expained that it was not posted that we needed an appointment and that we did try to call ahead, but that nobody had answered the phone. She responded, "I was too busy to answer the phones." Hmmmm... that excuse doesn't work at MY place of employment, but ok, moving on. I asked to speak to her boss. She gave me the boss' telephone number and I called immediately. (Keep in mind that we're now the ONLY people in the place). Her boss asked to speak with her and I obliged. When finished speaking to her supervisor, she rolled her eyes and said, "Fine. Get over here if you want to do this." WHAT?!?!?! I told her that I didn't appreciate the "customer service" and she said, "Whatever. You're not worth me losing my job over so I'll just do it." She also lectured me about how she is my "senior" (older than me) and that I shoud not have called her supervisor. I didn't trust that she would process our passports correctly, so we took them to another post office. read more

Just called the number listed to ask a question about some mail of ours that had been returned, even though it was addressed correctly! From our financial institution, so since they thought they had a wrong address, they froze the account until we could confirm that they did indeed have the correct address...the post office was in error. So, called the number, it rang...and rang...and rang. Then went to a voice mail message that said the subscriber at 9180 (last four of the phone number) did not subscribe to the voice mail system. The Postman we had for years was a very fine example of what a postman should be like..friendly, helpful, and aware of things going on in the neighborhood. He quickly and quietly moved through the neighbor, no muss...no fuss. My current postman is the biggest jerk. The manager at the Raytown P.O. has been told about the problem more than a few times with no change in behavior. I have had my mail box knocked off my house, pots of plants kicked on my stoop (happened before the current mailman), mail left lying on the ground next to my stoop, have gotten other people's mail, wondered where mail was that I was expecting and I have had my mail stuffed into the mailbox so that it falls out everywhere when I try to get my mail. I have reported him for blocking my driveway, talking excessively on his cell phone, being unprofessional, and for treating me as a stupid old white woman. Now he yells when he drives up and makes as much noise as possible just to let me know he is here. He has also taunted my dog when she barks at him through my closed front door. Her job is to warn and protect me. His job is to deliver the mail quickly and be professional while doing so. I do not want him delivering on my street anymore. I am not the only one on my street who feel the same way. read more

It's funny that they give you 20 minute parking spaces at the union station post office because everyone knows it'll take a lot longer to get through that line. The workers are never cheerful. I am calling back to back to back. I have a school trip coming in may out of the country and the third party that is paying for my trip wrote the check to this post office. I live in 3 hours away so I cant just walk in to make an appointment for a passport. The ONE time I have gotten through to a person out of all the times I called she was so rude and (this is not her fault) told me that they couldn't take appointments until two weeks out. I didn't have a planner with me so I didn't know when I could set up a time to drive there, so I was going to have to call back. Here it is. 5 days later and I still can't get ahold of anyone. The employees at this post office don't care of you receive your mail or not. I was supposed to get a package delivered to my house recently. I work evenings so I stayed at home all day on the day it was supposed to be delivered. They never came to my door. Instead, they just put a slip in my mailbox saying that they missed me but they needed my signature. They missed me? They didn't even come to my door to tape the slip to it, they just slid it in my mailbox like a secret admirer. So I signed the slip and put it back in the mailbox, because I figured if I put it on my door they wouldn't see it. Well, they took the slip but didn't leave the package. So now I have nothing, I can't even pick my mail up at the post office because they took the stupid slip. They didn't redeliver it after three requests. I went down there and wanted to talk to someone, they gave me a number to who they said was their manager. The first few times I called I got no answer. When someone finally picked up, it turns out they weren't associated with the post office in any fashion. When I requested a refund they denied it because I didn't buy insurance. Do I seriously have to buy insurance for every piece of mail I get from usps just in case they screw up?! That's ridiculous! And they won't be held accountable for this. No one will be reprimanded for their screw up. How is this okay? Get a job at the post office, you get a five finger discount. What I gleaned from this experience is that the post office can steal your property and get away with it, they'll ride away into the sunset with a sinister laugh on a stolen mini bike. read more

Expect to be treated poorly. What we have here is an overstaffed mess with everyone working at 1/4 capacity. Waited in line for a good 10-15 minutes and when I got up to the counter was told to get out of line to fill a form and made to restock the bubble wrap I had carefully selected as if I'm a store employee. When I finally got back in line right behind a black gentleman, the same clerk stared around playing dumb asking if anyone could pay with debit, basically acting like she'd never seen me before. Because he only had cash, she was forced take me back in line again. This is the 3rd or 4th time a black person has received preferential treatment over me at this office. After 25 minutes in this disgusting sweaty pit, Where the temperature is always set to 85, I finally got my stuff mailed. She deliberately neglected to stamp my envelope, a Christmas card to my boss in NY. Before you visit this location, please note which reviews are positive and which are negative and note also the race/sex of the reviewer. I am certain you will notice a trend. read more

I called and called the post office and could not get anyone to answer the phone. I needed a passport so I drive on down to the one in Union Station since they were one of the ones not answering the phone. When I arrived I was excited there were no lines and no people and 4 postal employees just standing there. I go up to the window and inquire about a passport. The postal worker stated that an appointment was needed. I preceded to make an appointment which was for the next day at 11:15am. Another postal employee then states she is not doing passports until next week. By this time I am pissed and just ask where else do they do passport. I gave them one star because I was given a list. I called the ones on the list and the very last one answered the phone. This was the post office in Grandview, Missouri off Main street. I made it there by 2:30pm and was able to do my passport that day. The Post Office on Pershing Road can stand to take a lesson from the Grandview, Missouri Post Office. read more
