They were both dependable and knowledgeable too - I brought a list of questions Aleigha answered with ease, and was willing to ask others for help if they weren't 1000% positive, an admirable quality that told me they really wanted my experience to be an informative, confident, and positive one! There is a KC bus stop out front, so the lobby was packed, likely because it's easy to get to without a license. Upon arrival, you join a mystery queue. They will text you when it's your turn. There is no posting how many people are ahead of you. I got my text 45 minutes after I checked in, when I was already being helped at the Parkville DMV. The NKC DMV has a helpful person that reviews documents. She was patient as one person was screaming at her that he pays taxes and needs an ID. She called for police assistance. At that point I had been waiting for 20 minutes, no idea how much longer, what was going to happen to the guy yelling he pays his bills and the police show up. I took my documents and slipped out.

They have redone the building since Covid and it's brighter, more user friendly and less waiting! There is a front desk and a person directs you to where you need to go. They have big monitors so you can see your number and wait time on the screen. Very fancy! The examiner was very nice and cordial. It was a quick, easy process and even enjoyable. Next time I won't be so reluctant to get my license renewed. There is plenty of parking and the building is easily accessible. There was also plenty of seating in the waiting area.

There should be security or someone calling the police to give these people tickets. And yes, I have also learned to schedule my visits away from the beginning or ending of the month, and steer clear of Fridays. Coming early also seems to help. I think that checking both notices I receive in the mail and the DOR website for required documents has been a good idea. That all said, now that the COVID hysteria is winding down, so have wait times and the time spent with the staff. Available parking has improved over earlier locations. I do know that my current experiences are much better than ones I have had in the last couple of states I have lived in. I went up there & they couldn't find them. I called & asked for the person who sent the email. I didn't talk to her but the person on the phone did & said she didn't know where they were. Now I have to take my disabled mother up there after the 30 days have gone by so she can sign a form saying she didn't receive the stickers so they can notarize it. I then can get in line & wait for my turn to get replacement stickers. Nobody I spoke to cared that they had screwed up. Just basically tough, follow the replacement process.
