I'm going to break with a lot of the "hate" here and share that I've had generally positive experiences at this location. First, the outer lobby is ipen 24/7 for PO box access, some supplies, and mail drop. There's even a small parcel drop area, and packages often (not 100%!) are scanned in as "received" even outside business hours. Parking is also plentiful. As I'm fond of saying about other retail locations "the customers are often more of a problem than staff." These days, you're likely visiting USPS because you have a task that can't be done online or you have an issue. The same holds true true for probably everyone else in line as well so bring your patience. The USPS is far from perfect but our mailing rates are still generally cheaper than anywhere else. I suppose I'm extremely fortunate that I haven't had to deal with some of the issues that other reviewers have had here. My experiences have been positive. This post office is open until 7 PM weekdays and 3 PM on Saturday. This is very convenient as most post offices close by 5. The lobby is open 24 hours, so you can buy stamps and send packages using the self-serve machine anytime. How awesome is that?!Probably not awesome but it really works for me when shipping-out items after-hours. Beware of issues mentioned in other reviews because mine is 5 star ray of sunshine in an otherwise cloudy realm. read more

Made an appointment online to get a new passport- saved the appointment to my calendar so I wouldn't forget. Of course when I arrived they had my appointment on their calendar at 12. Which wasn't the time I had on my calendar. I was unable to search through my emails to find the original email since I didn't have service in the building. But it was clear they didn't care what my email said. They said there's only two appointments after me no one waiting in line but one person was going on lunch so they couldn't help me despite the fact that I was completely ready and had all my documents. I asked if they would be willing to review my Application to make sure it was correct and I could just move forward with mailing it. Even that was too much of an inconvenience. They didn't try to remedy the situation at all but told me I could reschedule and even suggested just going to a different post office completely. I told them it's not that I was in a rush it's just being able to leave work it's tough with my schedule in my demanding position. It was very transparent that they didn't care at all and we're not eager to provide any level of customer service. I'm not saying that they should have made an exception and followed through with my appointment but taking a few minutes to review my application and make sure it was filled out correctly so when I rescheduled it would go just a smooth would've only taken a few minutes. You either find a post office that has excellent customer service and makes you wonder why you don't support the local US post office more or you find one that makes you so irritated and makes you understand why no one supports the post office. I stopped at this post office to mail a package. There were three people waiting in line and the one employee "working" at the counter moved slower than anyone I've ever seen. Finally, after the line grew to eight or nine people another person came out, moving equally slow. to top it all off I had not sealed my package properly and asked if they had any tape and they told me I would have to buy a roll of tape. I mean come on it's the post office they don't have a little strip of tape. read more

Package is currently being held hostage by this place was handed to them august 16th and today is the 22nd and it hasn't moved. Any attempts to get ahold of someone for an answer as to why is useless. I have opened a complaint with the post master and I will keep pestering them until I get resolve or figure out why my package is still here. read more

Continuing with my theme of shipping / mail facilities, I am also going to review the USPS facility. I have been to this place multiple times for a variety of needs. I have been here for shipping needs, mail drop-off, and passport needs. Each and every time I have been here, I have had a sub-par experience. Service: The service is sllllllllooooooowwwwww as 'eff. I mean, expect to take a large chunk of your time standing in line. Now, this would be acceptable to me if the workers were working at a pace that exhibited some urgency - something that made it seem like a line going out the door was a problem to them. But no, they stand around and mosey around like they have a 500 lb shackle attached to one of their legs. One time, I came in and thought the zombie apocalypse had begun right behind their counter! All the aimless shuffling and bumbling about with a few random groans indicating 'yes' or 'no' and I thought I was going to need to whip out a sharp object for some brain penetration... All of the above is just in commentary to their regular services. God forbid you need passport services. You might as well bring a tent and sleeping bags. Not only do they work so uncomfortably slow that it makes you want to scream, but the process takes an excessive amount of time. Of course, this is mostly attributable to how damn slow they operate. And, why have more than one person service a line that is 20 people deep? A line where it takes you a solid 15-30 min (depending on complexity) to service ONE person? Sigh... Fact is, these people, although relatively pleasant when you finally get to the front of the line - they have zero sense of urgency. It is like they are grandfathered-in by some clause which ensures that no matter how slow they work they will always have a job the next day. It is crazy. Service: 2 / 5 (1 + 1 for friendly service when you get to them) Atmosphere: Not only do you have to wait there forever, but it is typically unkept and depressing. I feel like I am standing in a black and white movie somewhere in a landfill. It is just depressing. Each and every worker has the same monotonous, drone-like pallor cast on their face. Holy crap! Epiphany!! They may legitimately be zombies!!? Atmosphere: 1 / 5 Final Thoughts: So why do I keep coming here? Well, for starters, it is the closest location to me when I am on my lunch break, and I do not have the time to travel further - especially since I do not know how much time it would or would not save me. Also, this is the only USPS location in the area that does passport services. Honestly, it is the worst USPS location I have ever been to, and I have been to some pretty terrible places. Tip: If you are coming for the passport services, you have to pay with a check or money order. They do not accept credit. If you fill out something wrong, or forgot something at home .. you are royally-eff'd because you will not find out until you have waited for two hours and get to the front of the line ... at which point they will tell you that something is missing, or that you do not have something (almost gleefully - the only indication that they are not zombies), and you will have waited in line ... all of that time ... for nothing. read more

This post office - located in Susquehanna Township near Cameron Street, Elmerton Avenue and Interstate 81 has extended lobby hours compared to the other post offices in Harrisburg. They also boast a large selection of packaging materials available for purchase and nice big signs with pricing. The staff is really good about making sure you get the best rate for what you're mailing and where you're mailing it to. The post office also has a passport processing center where you can get your photos taken and take care of all of the necessary paperwork involved. The price for the photos is slightly higher than what you'd pay elsewhere, but the convenience factor overrules that. Happy mailing! read more

Stopped in here on our holiday travels to mail some last minute Xmas gifts. The lobby had extended hours (helpful as we were on the road early and wanted to get these things mailed) and was not too busy. The real star of the show here was Peggy Sue. She had a winning personality and took extra care to help us with our customs form for the international package we were mailing. If only we had more Peggy Sues at our home post office. This post office was clean and well-stocked with all of the forms, mailers and optional-purchase stuff you could need. The people rating this P.O. with low stars are clearly spoiled. Come to the Brooklyn 11211 P.O. and Mail a package or two sometime. After that experience, I guarantee you'll reconsider how you rate this place and it's wonderful staff and maybe think twice about how good you have it. Thanks, Peggy Sue! read more

today is december 22 - by my cell phone's display. i just today received a check in the mail for a luncheon on december 11. the check is dated 11-16-20 - and the #10 business envelope has a postmark of 16 nov 2020 pm 3 l. it took over a month to get a business size envelope. fortunately the luncheon was cancelled due to covid. but that is no excuse for an envelope taking over a month to reach it's destination - less than 30 miles away. ptf read more

Tortoise/Snail Slow x 345345!! This is my third time here and it never fails, I'm in there forever!! Prepare to spend at least 15 minutes here if you want to speak with one of the employees - and that's even the case if you want to buy one stamp. That being said expect a line and there is never more than two people working at a time - that's in the morning and at lunch. At this location I strongly support the use of the automated assistance mailing machine. The problem is the employees here are just the slowest people on Earth. I informed the employee that I wanted the cheapest option and that I didn't care if it was the slowest - he still felt the need to walk through ALL of the mailing options. They have no sense of urgency. I don't think they should cut corners I think they should ask about bombs and perishables but, I know there is a way to do it that doesn't take 8.7 mins. Also the parking lot is more confusing than The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner! There's only one way in and one way out and naturally people don't read so there's just chaos all around. read more

Don't EVER mail a postcard campaign from the Harrisburg Post Office! They received the postcards from my printer on Tuesday. These postcard were ALL going locally and by FRIDAY very little customers had received their postcards. No wonder email is the way to go. This kind of service is killing businesses! read more

Wow! If you need a passport, think again! Passport window opens at 10am, got there at 9:20am there was already 9 people ahead of me. I waited in line for over 3 hours with only 1 postal worker at the counter processing applications, whereas 3 postal workers were at the there counters with literally no customers!!! They would occasionally look at the long line and talk among themselves. You would think the Post Master General or other management staff would look at their workflow process, how inefficient it is, and make modifications. At least assign other staff to manage the high volume of customers coming through to apply or renew their passport. Upon leaving the line was still at the entrance door - not sure if the rest made it through before the Post office closed at 3pm. read more
