For 25+ years we had no problems. The driver assigned to our route would without fail deliver packages too big for our mailbox to our doorstep. And if they couldn't they'd leave a pink slip. Ever since they retired our new driver has been completely useless. They don't bother driving up to our house because they're too afraid they won't be able to turn around in our driveway. Again, something our other driver has done no problem for so long. This new driver used to just drop packages right on the ground under the mailbox until we complained, because anyone could walk by and steal these packages if they wanted to. And now they don't even bother writing pink slips. They've done it again by dropping a package "in or at the mailbox" and (a package I can't find) that's why I'm writing this. I don't know if this driver is mentally challenged or just a fucking pussy but it's getting on my nerves. read more

I've lived in the area of over a decade and this place has just gotten worse and worse. This is the 2nd time I've had to deal with them recently and been disappointed. First time was around October 2023 when I requested to hold all my mail for a 2 week period because I'd be out of town. My mailbox was empty when I left, and nearly stuffed to the brim when I returned. This most recent time, and the thing that caused me to finally leave this review was I had ordered an item from Amazon, a fairly large Coffee Table size Tabletop RPG book. I go to check tracking because the estimate from amazon wasn't for sometime next week only to see "Delivered, In/At Mailbox". So I go out to check my apartment's mailbox, slightly confused since I am unsure it would actually FIT. Inside I find a package for my neighbor and nothing else. I check the other mailboxes and see nothing. I can only assume the actual delivery person dropped that one package into my mailbox and blithely checked my package as delivered. I've got a service request started with USPS, so we'll see if I actually get the book I paid $55 for... For actual normal MAIL, I've never noticed an issue, but if you have to have these people actually deliver a PACKAGE correctly good fucking luck. read more

What I've noticed at this location which is a big NO NO is that I've had things that have been certified mail with a return receipt. I'll check the mail and certified will be in the box and return receipt missing from the back. There has not been any waivers to waive my husband or I signature. I get it's hassle to knock on the doors, but when it comes to obtaining a signature, please do not sign someone's name. Another is I see the 2 ton park a few minutes in someone's driveway instead of on the street. One time it has happened to me, but no mail or parcels at my door so I don't understand why. However, I see it more with my neighbors. read more

Thus was our 2nd stop to try and mail a package on December 21st. First one was near our home but a little small and was pretty crowded. Had other business to do in Groton so we decided to try this one. Knowing that it was larger, bigger parking lot, and more postal staff at the windows for service. Sure enough, plenty of parking, no line to mail our package and we had time to pick up some stamps. All in all a good place for business. Even when there is a line, it goes fast. read more

Was notified by Amazon that I could expect a delivery on Sunday October 24,2021 by the end of the day , of course nothing delivered but received email stating at 7:05 pm package could not be delivered as driveway and front door was not accessible , now that is just plain bull I am not a business and there are no gates etc in my neighborhood at least have the guts to tell me you didn't try instead of my hanging around all day waiting for a package but after the horror stories of Post Office misdeeds nothing surprises me anymore package delivered on Monday October 25 by regular postman who is great on this route read more

The Groton Postal Service is the worse postal service I have EVER encountered! I have lived in many states and many towns here in CT but the delivery people are THE LAZIEST people I have ever seen! They won't deliver to apartments so you have to go to the Leasing Office to get your packages, because they are THAT lazy. I get mail notifications and don't get mail delivered on that day, but 2 days later. I have never seen anything like this. Incredible to me. We had a ton of things to send this holiday. I stay home with our baby, and couldn't take the boxes and the baby by myself into the post office, so I asked my husband, who is active duty military, to help me when he got off of work at 4. We went to pick up our other child from daycare, and got to the post office at 4:20 (approx). There was a huge line for the holidays, as expected, and our baby was screaming in the car and the toddler was acting up, so my husband suggested he drive us a short way home and come back to send the packages. He got there at approximately 4:45pm, and was packing things up, when a postal worker told him he had to leave because it was now 5pm. Here was my husband, IN uniform, trying to send packages to our family members. Not saying we should get special treatment, but he was there before 5. The man locked him out of the post office as he was left standing outside with packages, and the explanation he got was that it was too bad, he should have been ready. It's a shame that that's how they treat our military members, let alone people in general. My husband's father works at a Post Office, and he would never have treated someone this way. Additionally, last year, my mom-in-law sent a package to our street with the numbers transposed-82 instead of 28-and they said the package had been delivered when I checked. However, there is NO 82 house number on our street. I called and tried to see if they had kept the package by mistake, but no one was helpful. Eventually I called the company, told them what had happened, and they sent another item out (Keen, they are great)! read more

Do not ship abroad from this post office- maybe try Mystic or UPS! Shipped a gift to my boyfriend in the navy in the UK and for some reason the package was sent back to my house after landing in the UK post office. Both sides ( the Royal Mail and USPS) do not know why it was shipped back to my house- both saying "this has never happened before." Instead of USPS being helpful and accommodating over this, when I was extremely upset the $40 package I shipped failed to make it to its destination for no reason at all, they refused to refund my money or help to expedite the package back to the UK. The Post Master, Steve I believe, and supervisor, Megan, failed to provide me any support simply saying it wasn't there problem. After I called the USPS customer service line twice explaining to them my situation they said I would have NO PROBLEM getting a refund on my package. I explained this to the USPS Groton location and still they refused to refund me- major discrepancy between the local branches and main USPS! DO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONALLY THROUGH THIS GROTON LOCATION THEY ARE NOT SYMPATHETIC AND WILL NOT GO OUT OF THERE WAY TO PLEASE A CUSTOMER! Horrific customer service! read more

Around Christmas time the mail started to appear in my mailbox again and I thought that maybe someone from the post office read the review. Not! This was a one week occurrence, the regular postman must have been on vacation. TERRIBLE customer service. They delivered several hundred dollars worth of packages to the wrong address, and instead of doing something about it or even pretending to care, they wasted hours of my time and accomplished nothing.
