This past Saturday, I arrived at this particular UPS store at 2:56 local and when I attempted to enter the store, this older bald gentleman promptly opened the door and told me that they weren't taking any more customers. Needless to say I was not happy being that it wasn't quite closing time yet. Then again, what business closes at 3 on a Saturday anyway? So I asked him "what do you mean? It's not 3PM yet?" And he repeated that they weren't taking any more customers. My apologies for getting to the store "late" but I think he was a jerk to say the least. The reason I wasn't in place prior to the "2:55PM" closing time was because I was at Seymour Johnson AFB clothing sales getting last minute supplies for my Air Force service dress uniform that I intended to wear at my twin brother's funeral that took place this past Monday. I'm retired Air Force as well and was completely appalled at this guy's total lack of professionalism. We came all the way from Sacramento, California for my brother's funeral and spent the rest of the weekend torqued about this guy's poor attitude. Once opened, we were all greeted with a heart-felt good morning and the workers were ready to serve. Listening to the clerks helping people in front of me was very eye opening. I've heard all the complaints and even the phrase "Going Postal" about the Post Office, but this was waaaaaaay different! The clerks actually seemed to be enjoying helping people and were suggesting ways to spend less money. What a novel concept for an entity that constantly loses money every year. I have been on hold for over an hour, mind you on the day after a storm and I refuse to believe the lobby is filled with customers that NO ONE is able to answer my call after an hour and 15 mins now!!! My package said delivered on Saturday 01/31/2026 at 12:04pm, then exactly 1 min later at 12:05pm it says rescheduled. DHL says it was delivered by local USPS per tracking number from the merchant website, which also says delivered. I DO NOT HAVE MY PACKACGE AND THEY APPARENTLY ARE GOING TO MAKE ME DRIVE OVER AND APPEAR IN PERSON! THIS MAIL DELIVERY SUCKS!!!! Even bigger than this stylish looking building is the heart of the people who are working there. They are courageous, engaged and interested. They know their customers and they know their stuff! I had just left my mother's house and foolishly forgot to give her back her handicapped parking badge. Already more than an hour a way I could not easily get back. I pulled into Selma at 4:45PM and by 4:50PM I was on line at the Post Office. That is the only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1. I received a notice in my e-mail that a FedEx Smart Post package of mine had arrived at my local USPS office. For those of you that don't know what that is, Smart Post is a package that is handled mostly by FedEx until the final delivery which is done by USPS. By the time the package had arrived at the post office my carrier had already left to do her mail route. I called the 1-800 number for USPS and asked if I could pick up the package that day in person at the local post office or did I have to wait until the following day when it was scheduled to be delivered. I was told that I could pick up the package that day anytime before 5 pm and was given a confirmation number that showed that a request was put in to hold the package for pickup. The customer service rep even said he sent a message to the local office to hold the package for pickup that afternoon.. I don't get off of work until 5 pm but I managed to leave about 30 minutes early and rushed through heavy traffic making it to the post office about 13 minutes before 5 pm. I get up to the counter and the nice lady goes to find my package. She is unable to locate it so she calls for her supervisor. The man goes to pull up the tracking number then returns to tell me to come back tomorrow morning to pickup it up. I tell him that I scheduled a pickup and was told on the phone it was at the location and would be held. Then he gets loud and says "I'm going to tell you a second time come back tomorrow morning and pick up your package I do not have access to it." Then I ask him what he means by he doesn't have access to it? I try to show him the confirmation number I have written down but he refuses to look at it and says "This is the third time I'm telling you come back tomorrow morning. Don't make me get rude!" I am 5'3" and this is a tall stocky black man with a loud deep voice. His tone was hateful and dismissive almost from start to finish. I finally told him that I was not happy about any of this and that it was not what I was told on the phone. He finally said I understand your frustration but it is after 5 and we are closed. And I told him it was before 5 pm when I walked in but he couldn't care less and all he said was "I understand that". I called the 1-800 number again and after waiting the first time for almost 15 minutes and then having to call back when the system hung up on me I got a nice customer service rep who confirmed that my package was indeed at the post office when I went there and there was no reason for them to refuse to give it to me. She stated that hold requests are sent by e-mail and it may take up to 48 hours for a location to read it but even without the hold, the package never left for delivery and was there at the post office so they should have given it to me. I left work early and drove through heavy traffic in the opposite direction of where I live wasting my time and gas for absolutely nothing. But I did file a formal complaint. I am a tax payer and part of my taxes pay postal workers incomes. They have no business getting loud and giving attitudes to customers who are simply and calmly trying to get answers. All I wanted was the service I was promised. He refused to check my confirmation number or even physically attempt to locate the package and would not explain why other than it was 5 pm. But as I stated it only became after 5 pm after waiting for the first customer service person to locate the package and then waiting for him to track it. There were other people behind me who were assisted and I never heard anyone say to them it is 5 pm come back tomorrow. When that location closes they lock the door and anyone who is in before 5 has to be helped. So there was no excuse. I was very calm when I walked in but by the time I left I was furious. I will definitely think twice before I use the USPS again for any of my shipping needs. I have used both UPS and FedEx quite a bit and have never had any issues with their service. But this is the second time in about 2 years that I have had to file a complaint. The first time the postal worker who did my route left a notice for me to pickup my package without even coming to my door. I saw him drive across the street to a convenient store so I walked over to him and gave him back the notice and asked for my package. Turns out he never even loaded it into his car and had no intentions of delivering it that day. I called the 1-800 number for USPS immediately and filed a complaint. They contacted the office and I was assured that before the end of the day another attempt would be made to deliver my package. Around 6:30 that night I finally got it.

I like small town post offices for the same reason I like regional airports. Not that they are slow, if you need to get through fast I think the smaller post offices are faster than the larger ones because of shorter lines and more efficient processes developed out of necessity. I do a lot of shipping, no kidding, I'm at the post office at LEAST 4 times a week, so going to other places out in town was adding up, and we all want to ship for the best price possible. I mean shipping is super expensive, right? So the USPS does win when shipping domestically. And as long as it's under a certain size. I am able to go during the day when it's not super crowded, and I am always glad when I get Chucks window. He's friendly, pleasant to talk to, SUPER SPEEDY (FTW!) and always ask how my business is going, or how my son is doing if he's not with me. I appreciate his friendly banter and good attitude. Everyone else I've had the opportunity to deal with there is also pleasant. Unlike the other post office in town. This is the only post open on Saturday and it happens to be between 10 - 1PM. There is street parking and a private lot. Oh,and the Passport office is in the same building.
