Five cheers for the Westside Post Office. I lost my phone (which also happened to be my wallet,…read moreouch!) last week. I was looking forward to getting out of obscurity and this digital-less world with a shipment of a phone, but when I got home at literally 4:55pm there was a slip for a signature needed. I called the West Side post office and while it was busy until 4:57pm, I finally reached someone at 4:58pm. I told them I'm a few minutes away and they said they would hold the door for me. I sped over there and there was quite literally someone at the door with my package. Customer service doesn't get any better than that. To my credit, I did get there around 5:05 or 5:07pm so it was only a few minutes after closing time, but man -- I'm glad I don't have to go phone-less for another day. Thank you to the Westside Post Office for the excellent customer service. I definitely love you!

You can trust Shipping HQ to get your packages where they need to go…read more We had a situation recently where the recipient's new address didn't make its way to our office, so when our shipment arrived at their old address, delivery was refused. Shipping HQ was able to resolve the issue over the phone, and our very important box of valuable materials finally reached its proper destination. They'll advise you on the best carrier and price, and if you don't have the appropriate packing materials available, they can do that for you too. Once your personal information is in their system, one click gets your package on its way. Access to their parking lot is one of the most annoying in WNY, but it's worth it. Nice people, good at what they do - the kind of company that deserves your business.

This is one of the quieter post offices I've been to. I've never waited as long to mail out stuff here, as I have to wait at Clarence and even sometimes Akron. And don't get me started on some of the West Amherst, Cheektowaga, and city locations. I'd say it was my fave location in WNY, but one of the employees in particular (no names mentioned) occasionally has an attitude problem, so we'll stick with a 4. Not to mention, the products sold inside are infinitely more expensive than the same products at any one of many nearby stores. But I do find this location US-ful.

That said, since I have discovered it, I don't go to any other post office location (at least not if I'm leaving from home) because this one is so convenient. Plus, it has better weekend hours than the Post Office on Bailey. You can get stamps, mail packages, and do all the things you normally would at the Post Office but without the lines that I've encountered at pretty much every other Post Office. I don't think I've ever had more than one person in front of me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And if you need to get something from the Pharmacy while you're there, it's super convenient. Parking is easy, as is getting in and out of the lot. Yay for convenience and easy.

Pros: in a plaza with lots of parking, friendly man working behind the counter. Cons: totally hidden (you have to walk into the courtyard from the Main st side of the plaza to get to it). Because it's small, it has a limited number of shipping items you can buy (e.g. shipping boxes and envelopes) as well as a small selection of greeting cards. There are also only two cashier stations, which means, when there's a long line (esp during the holiday season), you'll be waiting a while. They're pretty efficient and fast with taking care of customers' business, but it could get backed up. Although I've used the self-service shipping center a couple times, I still prefer shipping things in person. That being said though, the self-shipping stand is very convenient. :)
