The Asian man is very helpful. Not sure how this place got such a low rating but it's relatively faster and more convenient than most USPS in NJ. I always come here when I need to get things done esp during lunch hour. Lines are probably like 5 mins tops, and pretty quick and easy. read more

Seriously? This place is an absolute disgrace. I rarely get all my mail and it's often delivered to the wrong house. In fact, we collect all the wrong mail we get and get together with the people who have our mail every other week, or so. It's that undependable. Though I have made some nice friends out of their incompetence. Honestly, how hard is it out the right mail in the right box? And it hasn't mattered who the mail person was. None of them care and I suspect the indifference comes directly from the postmaster. After all that you'd think you could at least get decent counter service. Think again. Last time I went inside there was no one at the counter. The guy behind the counter playing with his tie had to go find someone to help me. And the transaction still took an unreasonably long period of time. The incompetence is consistent throughout this location. So here's the skinny: most towns have a post office. Go to one of those because if you stop here you'll leave thanking God for the internet, email, and electronic banking. read more

They lost my package and they will do nothing to help me retrieve it or see where they actually delivered it. I lost $400 for this mistake they made. Unfortunately I couldn't put insurance because it's something they did not offer when I initially ordered the package. I "thought" a USPS job was the right career change move. I'm literally traumatized from this hostile, toxic negative experience. I began the hiring process back in late October~early November. They issued us a "paycheck" for $38.00! The "correction" will not be made until the next pay period, the checks will be issued December 24th. They did not "know" they had 2 new hires starting the day we reported. After 3 days of work, I was told "NOT to ask any more questions, I should KNOW THIS BY NOW!" The ONLY good thing about "Amazon Sunday" was the kindness of the managers, Matt and the lady in the warehouse. "IF" I receive my paycheck, (which should be quite high), I will be pleasantly surprised. If not, I will be contacting The Labor Board of NJ, located in Trenton. Reading all of the reviews, I can attest to the poor attitude and negative vibe of this location. Shameful. Staff is under-trained at this specific location, and after all of the road tests, the Academy, The Defensive Driving Class, online orientation, three online tests/evaluations, and not receiving my correct pay, I am completely "put off" from the whole experience. They continually string you along online during the hiring process, stating "Do not resign from your current employment", then when it's convenient for THEM, they expect you to jump right in. I left a very good job in healthcare for this debacle and now I'm waiting and hoping my "paycheck" will be CORRECT, or even issued AT ALL! Try getting gas for your USPS vehicle at their local Gulf station, you aren't given a PIN and you are yelled at THERE as well. Packages ARE thrown, I've seen it with my own eyes. At the Academy we were told "Sell the USPS at your location, you are literally a Post Office on Wheels". I asked where we were to acquire our forms/stamps/items for sale. Yes, I was laughed at. Yet again. The pay process is antiquated nonsense with quite the room for error. I was appalled at the apathy and lack of respect from certain management, they are dismissive and cruel. I wasted almost 3 months of my life trying to start over at what I thought would be a respectful, professional new career. I have documented everything and will be pursuing my wages owed. In summary, I can say I believed being a mail carrier was a noble, important profession. For the true professional, vested city carriers that appears to be true. For the "newbies" (that term makes my skin crawl), you are tossed in and advised to "Make your 90 days". A government profession that I [believed] I was entering into turned into a nightmare. My husband dropped off an important package Dec 12th and it has still not been scanned in and has not yet been delivered. This Post Office on most days is actually much like hell on earth. The area closed a lot of the other post offices and now this is pretty much it for a much larger area. Add in the fact that the lot is very small and completely unkept and you fear for your life while getting in and out of your car. Sometimes there are so many people trying to shove into this place on any given day that there is a line of cars coming out of the extremely small lot since there is not enough spots to park in. You will frequently see people park across the street at the Stop and Shop and walk across to the Post Office. Now that you know how insanely overpacked this office is, what do you think it's like inside? Well they have about 4 places where they could have an employee helping. They usually only have one or two helping anyone though. Also they must have all been trained by the Soup Nazi from the Seinfeld show as I've not had something perfectly correct on what I was shipping and was told to fix it and then get back on the end of the line. At this point you are truly understanding the meaning of "going postal". The line has been so long at times when they send me to the back of the line I just walked out and shipped it another way. I think the Postal Service is taking over for the DMW after they went over the massive overhaul to try and fix that disaster. If you can avoid going here that is all I can advise. They have a machine in the main lobby so you can just buy stamps and things that way. This is your best bet. If it's broke come back another time. read more

Whoever answers the phones here needs to be fired. They ask for your phone number and never call back. They act like you're stupid and don't know how to track your own package and get extremely angry when you do. I just got screamed at for going through the same ordeal three days in a row to find my package. It has my medication and it's been "forwarded" to the WRONG ADDRESS for an ENTIRE WEEK. They won't help me. They won't call me back. I'm in immense physical pain. And they get furious on the phone. DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE FOR ANYTHING IMPORTANT. Against my better judgement and because some people in my life a Penny Wise and Pound Foolish, my son sent me a package using the POST OFFICE containing 2 T-shirts needed to finish his T-shirt Memory Quilt which is his College Graduation present from me, his Mother. The Freehold NJ Post Office at 200 Village Center Dr. did not deliver it yesterday, even though it was processed at the POST OFFICE in VA on March 3 and put in a two day Priority Mail Box. I don't know why a Freehold Post Office is delivering to Marlboro, but they are and doing a terrible job. It was not delivered on March 6 and they LIED on the tracking. They said an attempt was made yesterday and that they left a notice which they did not. After physically going to the Marlboro Post Office which is a mile from my home, I was told that A) the Marlboro Post Office does not deliver my mail and B) the Freehold Post Office that does deliver my mail has NO POST MASTER, there is no one in charge and no one holding any employees accountable! My 2 phone calls to that POST OFFICE would have been FUNNY if I was not already so UPSET. The first call was answered after it rang about 20 times. The woman who answered asked for my address and said she did not see the package. SO the POST OFFICE lost my package and doesn't know where it is. After speaking with the Marlboro Post Master, who was VERY NICE and actually tried to help but is obviously limited in her influence on the situation, I again called The Freehold Post Office back to ask for the Post Man who delivers to my house and the man who answered the phone just left the phone and I sat there for 5 minutes with no response from anyone. If the Federal Government no longer wants to be in the business of delivering packages, just say so and be done with it. Don't offer a service and charge me $ for something that won't be done and loose something of great sentimental value that can not be replace with total disregard. I do not have the package and an important part of my son's life will not be represented on his quilt. Again this post office lead by Postmaster messes up. I ordered some vitamins with a tracking delivery day of 11/12/2018. I checked the tracking # given me by the vender only to find that the carrier stated that he or she couldn't deliver it because no one was home and a notice was left at the front door. I have a "RING" door bell and an external security camera. No postal employee was near my front door. I called the postal complaint number and got a claim #. A few hours later a man named Jim from the local post office called to say that he will speak to the carrier and get back to me. Fri. the Package was delivered a day late. I'm the last stop on this route. Jim called to say that the carrier misplaced the package and rather get off his or her ass pressed the notice button otherwise the route wouldn't be Compleat and the carrier couldn't return to the post office. But the good news it was only delivered a day later then promised. I already bought the vitamins at a local store. I told Jim I wanted to refuse the package. I told him it was never opened. He told me to leave it in my mailbox. I said it won't fit. He told me to leave it at my front door, which I did but taped a note saying return package at front door. I taped it in such away that the carrier couldn't open the mail box without removing it. I know that this is a boring tedious job but they choice it. This is the complaint # 1-800275-8777. This post office can be really efficient, or an exercise in futility!! There are times when there is a huge line here and only one person working the counter. Other times, there can only be one or two people on line, yet there are 4 people at the counter!! Most of the staff is helpful and courteous. Avoid the cashiers and the staff at all costs. I only go to this post office to drop things off. I pay for everything online: stamps, postage, etc. I got completely traumatized after dealing with them a couple of times, never again! Rating? - I don't think so - I had to give a one in order to submit a rating! Since closing Colts Neck and designating Freehold as my sorting center its become a hit or miss thing if I receive my mail every day and when I do it usually has some other persons mail with it. Yesterday, I watched the mail person go up and down my street a minimum of 12 times each time skipping my house - do you want to know why he drove pass my home - its because my number came up that "we attempted to deliver your mail but no one was available" - this notice has been put out for my home more times than I care to count. He can't be bothered to walk to the door with a signature required package. He'd rather leave a "sorry we missed you" note in my box. Calling the facility gives you "Ma'am I really don't know why - hold on" yes, hold on forever while I go to lunch. If you people don't like your jobs then give them up for someone else. Wow! The reviews I've read are so different from my own experiences at this post office. Some comments are right on the money (for instance, the difficult access to the parking lot and, at times, a long wait in line), but I have always received excellent service once at the counter. My current rating is 3 Stars (downgraded from 4 stars earlier). The window clerks have even suggested alternate ways to send my materials, saving me both time and money in the process. Maybe my experiences are not the norm, but I have had great service from great people at the Freehold Post Office. But...make sure you get in the door BEFORE closing time! I recently went to this post office just barely in time to get in the door before closing. A loose door stop was preventing the door from closing completely, and one or two additional people came in a minute or so after the closing hour. One of the clerks happened to look up as another fellow came in (after all, the door was not shut at that point). She barked at him in a voice worthy of one of Ft. Dix's finest drill sergeants, "We are CLOSED; you will not be served." The poor fellow's attempts to explain that the door was not shutting properly were met with same furor, and he left sheepishly, apparently feeling like some kind of criminal for daring to enter an open door to that inner sanctum. If it is that vital to hold to the clock, then replace the doorstop for Pete's sake! There's no excuse for a "public servant" to treat an innocent customer with such public disrespect! read more

Came here three times...First two times no problem. I have been selling items on Poshmark and Mercari for over a year and sending multiple packages daily (these sites are like eBay/I have been going to the Belmar Post Office but I work in Freehold occasionally). Today I come in with twenty packages all with pre paid shipping labels on them. Two huge bags and two huge boxes that I am clearly struggling to carry in. The older lady with the short hair and glasses is just not nice. She refused to take the packages because they weren't taped enough? Let me reiterate that I have been doing this for over a year. The packages were just fine. So I struggled again with walking out with all twenty packages. It was just ridiculous. Instead of helping me, she flat out refused my packages. If I could give zero stars, I would! Trying to contact anyone is nearly impossible! On the very very rare occasion that someone DOES answer the phone, you're given a standard short answer not related to your question. If you explain your problem further, you're put on hold... Indefinitely! Seems to be the standard operating procedure for the Freehold Post Office. If all you need to do is mail a package, then you shouldn't have a problem. Wish I could give no stars. They lied about attempting to deliver a package that needed to be signed for. Someone was home saw the mail person put the mail in the box but never came to the door with a package. I check my tracking and it said the attempted at the time my mother say the mail person putting the mail in the mail box. It also said they left a slip for me to sign so it can be dropped off today. Again no such slip was ever left. I called the post office and they were very rude. Also a week ago I ordered a book fairly large. The mail person was lazy and shoved the mail and the package in the mailbox. (I live in townhouse community our mailboxes are much smaller than a single home mailbox). Guess what? Took me and my family 45 minutes to removed the book. Because of that the book got damaged. Again customer service didn't give an apology and said they must have been busy that day. For now on I'm only buying things that will only be shipped via fed ex or ups Bc usps is terrible and does not own up to their mistakes. read more
