The Willamette Street post office has really great staff - friendly and efficient. What more can we ask?

Absolutely terrible!! We have had such poor service at the 5th street location that I welcome Trump taking over the postal service and privatizing it. Every time we go there the package scanning machine is down, or the box for packages is full , or the lines are out the door. This place is a clear picture of why the postal service is failing and in serious debt. No accountability in this business model makes for poor quality, lazy employees with indifferent attitudes. I've loved this post office since I was a child because the building is so beautiful. However, it's never been the most convenient to anywhere we've lived, and of course being downtown, parking can be problematic. This post office offers passport services including photos; I got my first and second passports here. But that was when I was younger, before yelp. Today I went to mail a couple packages and was astounded that at 11:45 am, just under three weeks until Christmas, the place was near empty. I walked right up to the postal clerk. He was super friendly and honestly his great attitude brightened my day! Lastly, I am so glad I stopped here. You see, the package I was mailing was an umbrella I purchased that was too big to fit in my suitcase when I return to Chicago, where I'm currently living. FedEx wanted $25 minimum to send it--and that was after I asked for the cheapest option, since they originally quoted at least $40. USPS charged me $11 and I have a tracking number to monitor its progress. Go blue! read more

This post office was the only post office in the area with a working APS center. I wanted to mail myself a package home but the other post offices I visited in Springfield & Eugene had no APS, and they were already closed. I checked on line and found that this one was still open so even if they didn't have a working aps, I'd be able to use the service of the folks behind the counter. Thankfully, the APS was working and the packages I sent to myself got home right on time. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR PASSPORT HERE I waited nearly a half an hour for my passport appointment that I made online. The passport person came out to the lobby only when there were nearly 20 people waiting. I had been waiting the longest. She walked right past me and ignored me. I said "Excuse me I have an appointment scheduled," and she lied to my face saying she had called for the appointment already. Then she told me I had to reschedule and when I asked for more information in regards to paperwork she dismissed me again saying I just needed to read the forms (which I have already done multiple times). Having worked in food and customer services for many years I can confidently say I would never treat someone like this. For having to pay over a hundred dollars for this service you would think they would value your time and treat you like a human, think again. Please support other locations with me! :) read more

This is the worst usps I have ever been to in all of the states and cities I have lived in. Why? Mainly because the men who work here provide deplorable customer service. They have poor attitude, no personality, behave in a sexist manner (speaking to women like they are inferior children wasting their time), and their faces are quite literally smug and condescending or frowning in every interaction I have had with them. My most recent interaction: put my item in the wrong type of package, male clerk looks at me like I'm an idiot, leaning on the counter with a monotone voice and tells me that I made a mistake. He Seemed irritated that I dare ask questions about what type of package I should use. Second man: seems alright, but when I ask if I may use some tape he says no, you have to buy it or go home and get tape. I mention that this is the only usps I have been to that doesn't provide tape at the packaging counter and he says "never in my twenty years." He made me feel like I was wrong and there's obviously no uspsd ever do that. P.s. Springfield usps gives you tape, they're awesome. Go there if you can. They're nice, too! The women who work here are awesome and charismatic and do their jobs quickly and efficiently. I hope they're paid more than these condescending, robot dudes. read more

I do live in a high-rise apartment but he never call the call box for me to come down and get the package. Or put the package in the mailbox outside for large package. If I could give this post office zero stars, I would have. On several occasions we have had them refuse to deliver mail to us because we live in an apartment. It doesn't matter that they can go right to our front door, they won't. We have had packages left in a common area that is accessible to the public. Another time we were sent a certified letter that they would not deliver. We would get notices that delivery was attempted but no carrier came to our door, ever. It is clear that this post office discriminates against those who live in apartments. Even though shippers, mailers and we have paid to have something delivered to our door, the post office does not honor that and then they lie about attempting deliveries. read more

The staff makes this place great. I have never been to a USPS with pleasant staff before and this place isnt too bad! They are quick and helpful. I have never seen this place too crowded. Parking is a bit tricky. There are some "free" spots outside and some metered spots. Easy to get them confused and the parking patrol guy knows it! There are plenty of PO Boxes as well if thats what you need. read more

While they may not be perfect. The clerks that work there have been working 6-7 days a week with 10- 15 hour shift daily. No one is perfect but i find it hilarious that people feel the need to complain about them when they are clearly exhausted from trying to help customers throughout ALL of COVID without any kind of hazard pay , being physicaly, verbally, and mentally assaulted on a daily basis by the very people who feel the need to leave rude reviews. I understand things are hard during covid and people are trying their best to make things work. But being talked down to when trying to put a hold on a package after many of your packages are just left on your doorstep to be stolen is ridiculous. Being told "maybe when you learn to navigate the website you'll be able to place your items on hold". I've tried changing the delivery instructions online countless times with a completely unresponsive app only to be then talked to like an idiot over the phone. No responsibility taken or even remorse for packages left on my doorstep with no signature and no help to try and make sure this doesn't happen to future packages... I wish I had the option to either go through another post office or at least use another shipping provider. read more

The last 3-4 times we have scheduled a pick up, for priority mail shipping, we have never gotten our packages picked up. We schedule a day in advance, and we even get a confirmation number on our scheduled pick up. Still, no one picks up. We usually end up having to scramble, and make other arrangements so it can go when it needs to go. Once, they came by a day late. "Um, no, that package needed to go yesterday. I always have a pleasant experience with the staff here. They are nice and helpful whenever I have any questions or don't know exactly how to ship something. The parking can be difficult because it's street parking so on a busy day you might have to pay the meter in order to run in and drop something off. There is a 15 minute free parking spot in front if you can snag it. Although the mail system in Eugene can be a little funky (especially when it gets crazy around the holidays) I don't mind having to come here. I also like how it's very close to 5th street so I can grab a coffee when I'm done. There's sometimes a musician that plays music on the sidewalk out front that always makes me smile. read more

Placed an online order from China. The Chinese tracking system shows it was delivered 11/26 at Post Office 97404 in Eugene, Oregon. After which, it shows as "in transit". The PO can not track international tracking numbers. So much for the technology of the USPO. The Post Office cannot have anyone manually look for the package. So much for the "service" of the USPO. I have no way of recouping my financial loss. The US Post office is a waste of time and money. read more

i don't usually leave negative reviews but this place is ridiculous. i asked for two small strips of tape (like the smallest pieces) cause I had forgotten my tape at home. The PO in south eugene would have said "sure no problem!" but the guy at the downtown PO said "no but you can buy some" and they only had the package of singular strips available and they were hella expensive. Not to mention the way he said "no but you can buy some" was condescending and rude. When I walked out of the PO I was complaining about it a little bit and the guy who was behind me in line happened to walk out too and he said "yeah I thought that was so stupid and I don't know why he was so rude about it" so that made me feel better. I get that they don't want to just give out recourses Willy Nilly but the whole interaction was BS. It's honestly just that one guy in particular who's a jerk-I think everyone else is chill for the most part. read more

This is my least favourite post office in Eugene, but it's still a solid place to go if you need anything USPS related. There is no parking, there is frequently a wait, it's not particularly clean or recent, but this place processes a lot of mail and does a good job at it. Consequentially, if you have oddball mailing questions this place is the most likely one to give you an accurate answer. read more

The manager at this location not only is rude, but this time specifically withheld my package from being delivered and sent it back after seeing my name and address, as I heard while on the phone with another employee today. This is the THIRD overnighted package that this location has not delivered to me, and either lost or sent back. The manager told me that it is "not his problem" that my package could not be delivered and that it was "too bad" that I would not receive my package. One of these packages contained medication that if I were to not take I would end up in the hospital. The manager told me again in this situation that it was not his problem and this package was lost for 12 days. In addition to these things, this man has also yelled at me on multiple occasions. Disciplinary action needs to be taken against this employee. I will be submitting a complaint to the USPS overall. Avoid shipping through the Eugene USPS if you can. read more

Brian the Manager is exceptionally rude. He said they would not even attempt to deliver my Amazon package, and that it wasn't his problem that the parcel lockers at my complex weren't big enough. I don't drive, and I asked what time he thought they might be delivering it, saying, since I am working from home, I could run down and get it. He said I don't know what you don't understand, no, we won't deliver it. Such rude and disrespectful service, with no compassion or human element. read more

I have been twice now. The first time the man working was very helpful and was able to wrap up the book I was trying to send for me. Very quick and easy. The next time I came to deliver a book, the woman was not nearly as nice or helpful. This time I had to purchase my own roll of tape and go to the side and put the package together. I felt a little annoyed as I saw all the people working had plenty of tape of their own. And the time before the man taped my package up for me. Wish there was a better Post Office nearby. read more

He older fellow who helped me was absolutely disrespectful towards me because I didn't have an ID. After I couldn't get the mail without ID I simply asked if he knew when the lock would be changed so I can get my new key to not have this problem and he said nope..really I said, does it look like I'm playing, NO. I will not be talked to like his little child he's reprimanded! I will NOT be coming back and will tell everyone to hit the other ones up. Minorities be aware. The blonde sales associate does not want to serve you if you are minority. She would pleasantly chat with a customer of her kind with nice smile but when a minority shows up at her window, she would not even greet. There are other nice associates so avoid this one if possible. read more
