I'm taking a pass because maybe it's a local thing and the locals are agreeable to it and besides that, this is a review for the local post office. the Ellensburg Post Office, judging by content and context of the reviews, seems a mess but after navigating the streets and sidewalks and seeing what passes for acceptable parking out front I am inclined to believe you get what you deserve considering that postal workers are generally hired locally so these are your very own neighbors treating you this way... I just popped in to post a few cards and the drop box was clearly labeled and functional so I did not get to interact with the staff, just the folks coming and going and "parking"... not saying anything, just saying that sometimes you get what you deserve. read more

Sometimes it's great. The take packages where the retail company doesn't deliver to P.O. Boxes. If they are not busy they can answer a few questions as be of actual assistance. However the last few years: regarding P.O. Box mail. The back office has a systematic delivery method for the mail. That part is needed, however, some will argue this method can also target paid for boxes with service difficulties. Operational: The back office workers place the mail as far back toward their work space as they can. If someone doesn't go to the post office every day, back office personnel do not inch the mail slightly forward toward the customer access door. The small pieces are most vulnerable. Think size wise, of pieces such as 1099 tax statements. If something falls out the back, it is lost. Talking to mostly friendly front desk personal about the issue still can have the back office personnel delivering the mail in the back of the box. read more

The mail carrier keeps lying stating, the customer requests the package be held at the post office for pick up. There is no package slip. If the package does not have a tracking number, I have no idea it is sitting at the post office. The post office does not let you know you have packages there. What is occasionally delivered is placed in the center of the driveway, for when you get home from work in the dark to run over, or in the ditch near the mailbox, or shoved broken in the mailbox. They do not answer the phone, they do not help in person, and they do not care. I have lived here my entire life, and it only gets worse and worse. read more

If I could give it zero I would. Postal delivery has been lazy as all get out this past year. Must have hired a real winner with an attitude that hates their job on our route in Rainier estates. First the guy left a nasty note on our mail because our trash can was not in their way. They had plenty of room to pull forward and out. It was left where I can still get out an emergency for my medical kids, but left in an area where the trash truck still had access to the trash can. Then lately they are cramming my huge parcels into the tiny lock box damaging and ripping the packaging. Also they can't walk a couple more feet to my front door and place our packages there for safety where I don't have to drag my kids outside to pick up my mail? Today my parcels were too big to squash into the parcel locker so they left it in front of my garage where I had to hunt for them as they said delivered but I couldn't find them. Someone seriously has a bad petty attitude. I miss our old postal carrier. This isn't my first incident with this post office either. Over the past few years the incompetent humans that work there are still there. When I use vacation holds it's all messed up every time. I tell them to place it off hold and the still hold it. The Ellensburg PO package delivery has really become horrible. Our rural carrier apparently isn't delivering packages once the 4 available parcel boxes are full. They used to deliver excess packages directly to any house in the small neighborhood but not anymore. So my package gets into a perpetual loop of re-delivery which never happens. Several days later you get the dreaded note where you need to TRAVEL to the post office to pick up your own parcel. Which I've done the past 3 out of 4 Monday's. I understand they are understaffed but when I complained I was told they handle too many parcels and that I shouldn't buy online anymore....Really?!? Ordered some items on amazon and they were supposed to be delivered today. I got an alert saying that the delivery was attempted but the delivery location wasn't accessible. I live in a small apartment complex one block south of CWU campus. It couldn't be more accessible. Judging from other reviews it's likely that I was at the end of the route and the driver was just too lazy to deliver my package. This isn't the first time I've had problems with this post office. I'm 56 years old. I have lived in six states and many more cities and dealt with scores of post offices. I have never had worse service from a post office in my life. We moved here in July and have had several issues regarding the box where we receive our mail, receiving (or more accurately not receiving) mail and packages. My wife worked for the Post Office for 14 years as a rural route carrier, clerk and Post Master. So she knows how things are supposed to run. However it's very obvious and apparent to anyone who hasn't worked for USPS (the customers) when Post Offices are not run correctly. This is the case with the Ellensburg Post Office where the Post Master at the post office at best is doing a poor job. We went through three to four weeks of misery trying to get our mail delivered when we moved and only because we know the Manager for Post Office Operations were we able to get the Post Office to deliver our mail which includes vital medication. Now we are trying to get our mail restarted after a vacation hold and no one answers the phone at the post office and I have yet to hear back from my online complaint. It doesn't have to be this way but the Post Master sets the tone for the office and until that changes expect more of the same. The MPO should look into the office correct the problems and retain their customers otherwise give USPS over to UPS and FedEx who care about their customers. read more

I have lived in ellensburg for 8 years and it seems to be an annual trip for me to go speak with the postmaster regarding the miss handling of our packages. Why are they so disrespectful with other people things? My wife's diploma showed up in the mail with a crease right down the center. There is clear writing on the envelope that was covered with a somewhat translucent white sticker that clearly states "diploma - do not bend". I have had packages so tightly wedged into my mailbox that my son was not able to pull them out with two hands. A previous house I lived in I witnessed the mail carrier toss my package onto the front porch. When I confronted him about the issue he states "well I guess it might have slipped". There have now been four separate occasions between my roommate and I where USPS says they "tried" to deliver our packages when we never hear a knock on the door or get so much as a note to say they tried. Ordered a guitar...it was shipped usps. I went to the post office to pick it up.. the young guy behind the counter went in the back found it on a cart and grabbed the box and just flung it out on the floor from just about waist high. Today I witnessed a large clerk cussing while working from his register in the lobby, there were about 6 of us customers standing in line. When asked to retrieve a package he went back to get it, he actually was pulling parcels from a large cage, and throwing them on the ground, each parcel was on the floor after he was done looking for the package. I was frustrated watching the mishandling of the packages it's no wonder why other yelper's here have complained about damaged packages, fortunately for me, most my packages don't have fragile goods, but all 100 percent of mine received from this PO have come damaged, crushed and torn. I would give no stars if I could. Today, I witnessed our mail carrier forcibly throwing our packages out of her car. They were hitting our mail lockers and bouncing all over the pavement. Carriers here LIE about "attempting" to deliver packages. Twice now I have had a notice from Amazon stating that my package delivery was attempted. I was home on both of these occasions and there was absolutely no attempt made. This place is just awful. Every time I have ordered something that was shipped through this post office, it was either late or sent back. I have seen them constantly come after 6pm to deliver my mail and packages. My apartment's office closes after 5pm. So instead of delivering my package the next day DURNING BUSINESS HOURS, they would rather send it back to wherever it was shipped from. I have several package shipped through Amazon and then transferred to the local Post Office. More than half of those packages don't get delivered when they should. I have repeatedly had to go into the post office to retrieve my packages that should have been placed in the mailbox. On the other hand, I have had several packages put in the mailbox that should not have gone in the box, and have not been able to pull it out, even using both hands. Ellensburg post office is the absolute worst! Wish we had another choice for Prime deliveries, yesterday 2 small packages were to be delivered, Post office shows delivered, Prime shows delivered, but nothing was there. I called the post master and she said, yes they were delivered at 10:38 AM, I got to the mail box at 10:45 and nothing, she said she would talk with the carrier and call me back. That was at 2pm, never got a call back. Where are my packages? Often I get a pickup slip that says "in post office now" which means they did not even try to deliver the package. I live in rural area but have an extra large box so most packages can be delivered but they don't even try, plus we have 2 very large community boxes with keys, keys were still there so they just decided not to deliver. I live 15 miles from town, have to go in and stand in line where there are 3 windows and usually only 1 open. This is BS. read more
