This location is my preferred post office in the area. Usually an, "in & out" ordeal & the staff is always both professional and helpful. One employee by the name of Mercedes, was super helpful and answered my questions and concerns with skill and ease. She was a huge help since it was my first time utilizing a particular shipping method. Really seems to be a great employee and I appreciate the patience given. Awesome customer service. read more

i accidentally dropped off a UPS package here along with several other USPS packages. i went back & my package was gone. this was my mistake but the way i was treated over it & the lack of customer service & ZERO MANNERS of the staff is unbearable. i understand that rn many work forces are overworked & underpaid. i work in the restaurant industry & sometimes people arent so nice but that makes me even more dote on customers who ARE kind. i'm very patient & mild mannered & boy lemme tell you whomever answered the phone was a rude ass! lord have mercy FIX YALL ATTITUDE! idk what is going on at post offices but i think these people are upset behind the scenes. no help with my $100 package which was probably stolen by whomever supposedly picked it up. no answers just rude attitude. read more

I arrived here at 10am this morning waited in line for 35 minutes. There was only one clerk opened and the gentlemen being helped is opening a p.o box and there is a language barrier, oh lord. Finally another clerk opened up and I was next, as he rung me up his computer shut down and back to the line I go. When It was finally my turn again, I realized when I switched out my purse this morning, I forgot my wallet. The clerk was nice and offered when I come back with my debit card I could stand to the side and I will be helped next. Went home came back and the clerk that helped me was gone on break and there was the gentlemen who helped me earlier with computer problems. I waited patiently for him to finish up his client and explained the situation from earlier. He told me my two options are: 1.) get back in line 2.) wait for her to get back from break As I get back in line I see his supervisor come out and I leave the line and asked to speak to her. He then all of a sudden asked if I wanted him to help me now, keep in mind there is 3 customers ahead of me. No thank you and I will never come back to this location anymore, I rather drive farther and have better service. read more

More often than not the line is long and slow. But if you're lucky enough to get Ed, then he makes your wait in line worth it! Ed is friendly, knowledgeable and can usually make you laugh! That will be probably the only 1 star review i will give in Yelp for my entire life lol...Because this place really SUCKS!!! The employees are SUPER slow, and EXTREMELY rude! I only like one asian lady, that talks really loud, she is very nice, always smiling, but talks really really loud.... The rest, together with supervisors - really bad....... I wrote 2 reports to complain about this office...To the USPS headquarters... One time i went the supervisor closed the door, there was one clerk only working, and so many people waiting...The supervisor instead of opening the other cashier and starting working there HERSELF to HELP the stuff going FASTER...She just stayed by the door like a GUARD and was saying to people its closed....I asked her why is most of the time only one cashier open and she said exactly this : " Its not so, but if you want you are welcome to go to UPS, its right there on the corner...."!!!!!!!! The lady just sent me by the competition like nothing .....LOL! Good job USPS trainers! You got the worst team in that office. Improvement is needed asap! read more

The stars are for Ed because he keeps this place together. Otherwise, if possible, I would rate this place negative stars. The line is always long and the staff is always confused and moving at a glacial pace. I came in yesterday to pick up a package. I received a note on my door saying that my package was here because there was no one home to sign for it. I came in to pick it up and was told that my package was not here. the woman at the front told me that someone "probably" took it out for redelivery. this statement did not make sense because I didn't sign up for redelivery. she told me that my package would be at home when I got there. I got home, there was no package. I called the post office back and another woman answered the phone and told me that my package was sitting right on the shelf and that I would have to come back to get it. today, I'm here to pick up my package and have to wait in an insanely long line because there is nobody here to simply grab the f******g thing from the shelf and HAND IT TO ME. If the staff here moved any slower, they would be going BACKWARDS. read more

Showed up at 11:30 on a Saturday line out the door and one person on staff. Why is it that a corn dog stand in the mall has more than one employee at all times while our federal mail system thinks it's cool to staff one person at a busy post office. I will be lucky if I get out of here within an hour. How about a self sending kiosk If you want to run on shoe string personnel? How about a stamp dispenser so people don't hold up a line deciding if they want john Lennon or paul McCartney stamps? read more

Long Line! Slow service! You get one or two people behind the counter. I try to avoid going to this post office because of the long wait time. The wait time varies but most of the time it's 30 minutes or more. They need automated equipment, weigh station that works, stamp kiosk machine etc. to avoid having long lines. Ed is the best.Always friendly and patient ,efficient. I've been there several times so I know the wait time is long.

Waited 15mins to be helped. Had my 3 year old son with me who had to use the bathroom. Finally helped by young Hispanic lady in early 20's. She didn't seem to know what she was doing and didn't appear to care. I needed a piece of tape to reseal my first class package and she quickly stated they don't give tape to first class shippers. Which is a lie as I am an EBAY seller and all post offices I frequent have no issues providing small amount of tape out of courtesy to customers. After I finished removing some materials to reduce the weight I handed her my package and Basically told her to put the tape on it and seal it. She did this with an attitude. Next stop was about to be her supervisor. I usually have my packages sealed and ready to go; however I had to reduce the weight on this one. Please teach this girl common sense. I almost walked out and went to another location because of her lack of common courtesy and sense. Please advise your staff to be courteous or you will lose customers at this location; as reflective in your reviews. read more

I'd give this branch only one star except there are a couple of employees manning the counter who really rate far better. This branch is surprisingly busy and they often have only one or two counter people despite lines. Other branches seem to bring more people up front when things get backed up. I'm always glad when I see Ed at the counter. He knows what he is doing and always greets me by name. He seems to know many of the regulars by name. I send mostly overseas packages and he is quite comfortable with the customs forms for each type. read more

So why did they do away with stamp machines? All I want to do is buy a couple books of stamps. ..yet I have been standing in line for 30 minutes with 6 people still in front of me. I don't know if the employees are exceptionally slow or if everyone ahead of me is doing the most complicated mailing job in history. Nothing special about my local post office except I do enjoy the fact that they offer more than one drive-up post box. This place is convenient but can be a pain to deal with when the line is long. The employees, well on all of my visits, are friendly and willing to assist you with all of your postal needs. read more

I am disabled and went into this post office to drop off a package it was very hot day and I was accompanied by my service dog, A rather large brunette middle-age woman who introduced herself as being manager of this facility demanded that my service dog be put into my car on this particularly hot day, I explained to her that my dog is a service dog and that it is too hot for the dog in the car I showed her the card explaining my federal rights according to the ADA. This horrible woman explained that this is her branch and her post office and the dog is going out needs to be put in my car she said that no dogs either service or not or allowed in this branch of a post office because it is her rules.I have tried in vain to report her since this is a blatant violation of my civil rights I can't seem to get anyone from the United States Postal Service to contact me so that I can report this violation I'm very angry and upset that El Sobrante can so blatantly disregard the law and peoples civil rights you would expect this in a Third World country not in the middle of California please pass this on this horrible woman needs to lose her job read more

I come to this post office daily. It is one of the worst managed outfits I have ever been to since Circuit City went away and Soviet style shopping by Service Merchandise bit the dust. The good workers seem to get out as quickly as possible. You can never find a manager when you need one and cashier qualified people are doing work in the back when there is an enormous line. I hate coming here. The one good point of this post office are Ed and the Chinese lady at the front desk. Ed really knows his stuff and the Chinese lady is very helpful. But they are horribly understaffed which leaves supplies (such as the flat rate boxes) constantly out, one person on the counter when a dozen people are in line, no separate window for pick ups only, charging "postage due" for a package that another post office had already accepted. One actually refused to get my a package that I could see on the pick up shelf when tracking told me it had been delivered but I did not have the "yellow paper" saying I had a package. No wonder people are heading to the competition in droves. Now if only letter mailing was profitable enough we could close this dinosaur down. And to think that some people actually want these kinds of idiots running our health care. read more

I would give this post office a rating of 4 stars. The 5 star rating is mainly for Ed. He's a friendly, knowledgeable guy that works there and always makes the visit pleasant. He is very easy to deal with and handles the relentless line of impatient customers with a friendly and calm disposition. There have been workers in the past that were not so easy to deal with, but the staff there now are all pretty friendly. Sometimes the line gets quite long, sometimes this post office is understaffed. Lines are to be expected in all government run offices, I do not believe it is reasonable to blame it on the employees of any one particular branch. Overall I am quite satisfied with this post office, and will continue to go here for a long while to come. read more

I've lived in El Sobrante for over 17 years. Overall, I've received really great service from our Post Office and its employees. (I withhold one star because of the frequency that some of my mail is returned to the sender, with the notification that the PO doesn't know me! I'm told there are workers brought in from other PO's occasionally, who are not familiar with El Sobrante's Box holders.) There are a few people I'd like to mention specifically as having always given me great service, who have gone "above and beyond," even when they were pressed for time and tired. These include our current delivery person, Juan, our previous delivery person, Leon Bartlett, and my favorite counter person, Ed, who has persisted in giving great service, instructions, and information through his own health challenges. He is always friendly and gives out appreciation freely. I enjoy exchanging greetings with Mr. White, also. Others there are very helpful; but I have not had a chance to get to know them personally in the same way as those mentioned. A couple of gripes include: 1) having my letters returned stamped "addressee unknown", 2) the very, very long line that can build oh-so-quickly. The staff works really hard, even after closing time, to get everyone's business handled, which I appreciate. Perhaps "rush times" could be noted on a sign somewhere. I have the flexibility to come at less crowded times, but don't always know when those are. One of my favorite experiences in the El Sobrante PO was the day I arrived to have three crowing roosters, carefully packed in shipping crates, sitting in front of the counter. I grew up on a farm--I didn't know roosters could crow so loudly as they did that day! Ed and his fellow counter-servers took the roosters in stride. The customers had some great laughs. Let me mention, too, the citizens of El Sobrante, whom I encounter at the Post Office. They're great. I have some wonderful conversations with them on days when I get caught in that long line. By and large, they are polite and considerate, as well. Nice place to live. Great to have a center of service that's enjoyable to go to, most of the time (except for the line)! read more

I live at the last delivery for mail on our post delivery route. It has become routine for the delivery person to not deliver our mail if it is really late. Last evening, our delivery man was delivering at almostmidnight and did not deliver to us (47) homes condo complex. This has happened because the routes are too long and not enough delivery persons are employed. The management of The El Sobrante office can only tell us that our delivery person is still out there, but cannot guarantee delivery again, making it two days without delivery. Who in the real world expects it's employees to work these long hours? read more

Too bad that nobody pay attention to me. I moved to this new place 5 months ago and still keep receiving mail from the previous 4 people that lived here before. I spoke to Lupe the manager and she told me she will put a stop to this mail and she did not do it. Today at 12:15 I spoke to Lupe again and she hang the phone on me (very rude manners by the way) without telling me if she can help me with this matter or not. I called back and Amanda o Samantha o weathever her name is and she was lying to me telling that Lupe was not there for a while and I told here that Lupe hang the phone on me one minute ago and she told me that if the other people did not put a stop in that mail she can not do anything to help me. I asked her if was ok to send that mail to trash and she told me it is fine. I was attonished whit her answer but I am going to listen to her because nobody comes to claim that mail. I did my best to convinced the USPS office to rerouted the mail that is not mine or my son's. Without any luck. The others postmans had been very rude to me telling me that my mail box is public which is not and on July 3rd 2015 one skinny postlady left the mail on the floor when I did try to return it to her the mail that is not mine she ignored me and she left leaving the mail on the floor. Today's post man was very polite listening to me, making notes besides his busy scheduled he took the mail back he really cares about what I had to say. cheers to him and God bless him. read more
