This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My address was not in the system and it took 2 months to finally receive mail. Then the carrier would not deliver it because he said there were no numbers inside the mail box. Even though I had one. But Lauren the USPS postal clerk was amazing with her service...yes, you heard me right...a postal clerk with amazing service skills. Line moved quickly. This is the big main post office, close to downtown Columbus. There are a bunch of drive up boxes outside, so there's not usually any worries about a box being full, except perhaps a few times during Tax or Christmas seasons. Athe inside has a fully stocked supply area and full counter service that includes Passport applications - but be warned, mid-day it gets super packed on many days and the line can be quite a long wait, sometimes up to 30 minutes or more. Five stars for excellent customer service. I didn't care how long the wait was or how much red tape I had to go through, Lauren was amazing! I visited this specific post office because it's one in town where you can get your photo and passport application done all in one place. After trying to make an appointment online and on the phone, I ended up just stopping by. That's when I found out appointments are required and must be made 24 hours in advance. Even though it was empty in there, I still had to come back the next day (insert eye roll). Lauren helped me take care of that and while yes, it was annoying. They weren't her rules and she was so sweet. I came back the next day with all my paperwork and everything ready to go. There were a few more people in there but they kept having to sit back down for not having the right information or forms done. Glad Lauren was there the day before to inform me on everything. Just wanted to say - see my previous review but the employee here, Cynthia, remains one of the most incompetent and rude people I have ever encountered, in life. I participated in USPS Operation Santa and she made the entire experience difficult. I will never help a child through this program again and I have decided to stop using the USPS because she is a horrible person and shouldn't have a job. You cannot reach anyone at this location. I have tried for 17 days. When u call it doesn't even ring and goes straight to a voicemail that says the voice mail box is full and hangs up. I have submitted a complaint but they won't answer either. I feel like this is 100% illegal as they HAVE TO HAVE A working reachable number legally. And the USPS customer service is crap. They never deliver mail. It took them 3 weeks to deliver my Debit Card from my bank. I just thought it got stolen, you know , being the US Post Office and all. So,the bank sent me another card by UPS and I received it in 2 days. One week later the Post Office decides to deliver the first card, 3 weeks after the bank mailed it!!! I live about 10 minutes from this post office, but go out of my way to ship because it is amazing! The staff here are always friendly and courteous. They are very knowledgeable when answering my questions and always provide service with a smile. I also find that even when the shipping line is long, there isn't much of a wait as they are quick and efficient with getting us in and out. Every package that I shipped out for the holidays (even the last minute ones) arrived when the clerk said it would, or even a day before. This post office has the most unhelpful employees ever. For the 8th time, instead of delivering my mail to my address they put it in a parcel room for an entirely unrelated apartment complex that I don't have access to. Whenever I try to correct this issue they blame me despite the fact that I have nothing to do with their continual errors. The employees are rude, incompetent, and unwilling to help in any way. If they misdeliver your package, they will first try to put it on you then do that absolute bare minimum to fix the issue if they do anything at all. read more

I paid for two day priority mail, because my daughter needed the contents by the following weekend. As of Friday, still in transit. Most incompetent PO I've ever encountered. We've been getting mail for the previous tenants all year, even though I write NOT AT THIS ADDRESS on every piece of mail and stick it back in my mailbox. They're also thieves and steal mail. I ordered a $100, 3-month backordered piece of gear. When it was out for delivery, I get a notification saying that it was returned to sender for an insufficient address. I contacted the company that sent it, they had the address correct. Three days later the package shows up at my door wrapped and sealed in a plastic bag with a BS note from the PO about how "They Care" and were super sorry that my package was damaged. I opened the plastic bag to find my package completely opened and the item had been ripped out of its original packaging. So they delivered me an empty package with the torn up remains of the item's original packaging. I couldn't believe it. It's beyond incompetence and cross into flat out felony theft. Came a couple of weeks before Xmas, so I expected a line, and there was one but it moved quickly. The main PO in Columbus is not as big as you might expect; at least, not in the lobby area- just three counters. You know your mail's going to go out soon, and not be shipped anywhere else in town. I've always gotten good service here. Picking up or dropping off, they're helpful and polite. They showed me my options and helped me pick the best one. Be aware- there's a separate entrance for packages they are holding, around the side. Parking is ample. The lot is a little weird, with two entrances and the mail drops, but not too crazy. read more

This is the main post office so it sees a lot of business. Doesn't matter if they have 1 or 2 people helping customers... it's still faster than some of the other locations when they have the same amount of people working. They all seem to enjoy their job. They have a smile or a joke for everyone. Where the mail slots are is an often overlooked automated postal system where you can get stamps, weigh your packages, etc. I've heard (but not seen firsthand) that on tax day, they'll have postal workers outside so people can drive up and hand them their tax returns without having to get out of the car. read more

I had outgoing mail in my mailbox for four days (with indication there was outgoing mail in my mailbox), and it wasn't taken. When I confronted the mail person asking what reason there was to it not being taken for so long she said "Oh, I didn't see it." I said it's been in clear view hanging out of my mailbox to which she said, "If I don't have mail for you, I just don't look." Under USPS policy it states if you indicate you have mail to the post person by hanging it out of the mailbox, they are obligated to take it. " She eventually told me to "Take it to a blue mailbox if I really wanted to." and to "Go to Hell." lol I tried to get in touch with the post office but of course, they never answer the phone. Came in to apply for a passport.. front desk is empty. The other people waiting said that the employee said "she would be back in a couple minutes." Employee just returned and said "there is no relief so it's going to be another 10 minutes." So I'm assuming she is taking her lunch... which she has every right to! There is no reason why the United States postal office should have no staff to cover while their employees get their breaks! So now we're all just sitting here... waiting for her to finish her break... that's not right. PSA Don't mail express packages in the self service kiosk. While you are going through the process of ordering your shipping at the kiosk, it will tell you that your package is guaranteed to be delivered the next day so long as you get your package in before 5pm. However there's a big and important piece of small print that they don't share with you at the kiosk: When you mail a package at the self service kiosk, the package gets scanned whenever they get around to it. Your guaranteed next day delivery countdown doesn't start until they scan it. They scanned the package that I mailed at 2:16pm at 7pm. That's after 5pm, so according to USPS policy, my package doesn't need to reach its destination until day 3. I used to work at bank so I'm used to small print and catches. I read everything carefully to make sure that my package would be guaranteed to arrive by the next day. GUARANTEED. Instead, I paid $40 to get the $10 2 day shipping. This was my father-in-law's birthday gift. Rule #1 of being in the early years of a marriage: don't fuck up your in-laws gifts. I would have gladly gone and stood in line for half a day to ensure my father-in-law received his gift on his actual birthday. I didn't stand in line because when you walk into this branch there's a kiosk with a sign that says something like, "Mailing stuff here is the same as mailing stuff there, but without the wait." You wait less to mail your package but your package take twice as long to arrive. That's not a good deal, USPS. I tried 2 different methods to get a refund. I had my receipt with the time marked. The two people I talked to both said the same thing. You shouldn't use the kiosk if you actually want it to get there. They both acknowledged that the kiosk says it is guaranteed and that the kiosk does not mention that your package will not be scanned immediately if you don't mail it at the desk. They both acknowledged that there was no way that I could have known that my package wouldn't be delivered the next day. Still, I received no refund. I've always been a post office fan but UPS and Fedex are getting my holiday shipping business this year. read more

This is my favorite post office in Columbus and, possibly, my favorite post office ever. The lines do get long depending on the time of day, but it moves quickly, especially since there are typically only 2 people managing the lines. I've delivered through this post office multiple times, even if the item required another delivery method. This place is just hassle-free, and the employees are always so wonderful and helpful! I was searching for a package that could fit a book for me to return, and a staff person was able to help me find it, along with providing me with a pen and tape. So great! Definitely going to miss this post office when I'm not in Columbus! Location is super easy to find with plenty of parking. read more

This is my go-to post office. They are open until 7:00PM, they have the electronic postage meter if the line's too long, they have 4 counter terminals for service, and the staff is generally nice. You can still experince the horrors of any post office here i.e.: long lines, irritated staff, idiots, unprpared people in line, and most recently for me, a patron who had 3 heavy boxes with up 75 stamps on each of them, which needed to be hand counted and only one teller was open. BUT, this is why the have the electronic postage meter that takes credit cards so, you can avoid the lines and the crazies. read more

I sort of feel a little strange reviewing a post office, of all places. But I went here yesterday to mail out an important document for work and decided that not all post offices are the same. Some are definitely better than others. I had been to a few of the other post offices around town in Columbus - I know there's one by 5th somewhere that I went to, but they were quite scary. This one is not. And it's Columbus' main post office, so it has everything. I've been going to this one for quite some time ever since I realized where it was. This post office is located out on Twin Rivers Drive, which was an easy location for me because I used to work for 10TV, and it's about right next to it. It's this curvy little side road that can easily be reached by taking Olentangy River Road south, because it sort of turns right into Twin Rivers. Because it's on this little side road, it's almost hidden away, but when you come upon it, you'll know - it's a huge building. There are always plenty of places to park and then you can just go right inside. I think it would be great if this post office had a drive thru. There is a little drive-thru area with mailboxes so you can throw something in there and go, but I mean a little machine that you can pull up to and buy stamps and then mail your letter. I am always running out of stamps or mailing big envelopes that I am unsure of how much the postage will be so I have to take it inside and weigh it. It would be nice if there was a way to do that without even getting out of your car. But I digress. When you go inside you can turn to the left to find the desks where there are actual people that help you. But right inside the front door is an automated machine that is usually all I need. If you already have an envelope to mail your stuff in, that's fine, but if not, there are all sizes and shapes of USPS envelopes right there at your disposal. There is always a plentiful supply. They have everything from padded envelopes to thick cardboard envelopes to boxes. There's typically a postal worker wandering around the area, too if you need help. But I love this machine. You just put your envelope on it and it'll weigh it for you and tell you how much your postage will cost. Then it will print out a label with the exact postage and you can stick it on your envelope and throw it in the mail slot. It's great because you never have to overstamp anything, since you can pay the exact amount. You can also buy stamps from this machine. Normal, everyday stamps. I think right now they have the Forever stamps. Now, I realize that most post offices probably have these machines. But some of the ones I've been to don't have them readily available right inside the front door - you have to wait in line and have the people at the desk do it for you. And that's the greatest thing about this post office - no lines! Unless people are using the machine in front of you. But I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes to do my thing so I can get on with my day. And the best thing ever? It's open until 7 on weekdays! Even if you work a 9 to 5 you have time to stop at the post office! It's also open later than noon on Saturdays for those who like to sleep in (like me!). This post office is clean and not scary. When you talk to the people at the counter they aren't encased in a several-inch-thick glass case to protect from bullets or anything. And the staff is helpful and cheery. And sometimes there is even a security guard around. When I went there yesterday I had to mail a large envelope and was unsure about the postage. So I went to the machine (no wait at all) and laid it on the scale. The postage was 83 cents. I wanted to print out my label but there is a minimum charge of $1.00 to use the machine. So it gave me the option of purchasing a sheet of stamps or a single stamp with it. I got the single stamp so my total was only $1.25. I paid with my debit card right at the machine, and it printed out a big label with my 83 cent postage and also printed out a single 42 cent stamp that I guess I can just use some other time. I little annoying that I had to purchase another stamp, but it's not like I'll never use it. And I'm not sure if you can make a charge for anything less than $1 with a credit or debit card anywhere else, either. I just like this post office because it's so quick and easy. You can park quickly, run in, weigh your letter and price your postage, pay and print it out, and there's a little table area right by the machine if you need to stop and write down the address on the envelope or stop to put the postage sticker on. Then you can just put it in the mail slot and walk right out the door behind you. It's convenient since it's close to downtown and close to my house. I suppose if you weren't in the area it wouldn't be as helpful, but it is easily accessible from highways 315 and 670. It's never taken me more than 5 minutes to get everything I needed to finish done at this post office. read more

There have been 4 envelopes placed in my mail box for the mail carrier to pick up in the last 6 weeks. None of them have been delivered nor have they been returned to me. Two of the mailings contained checks. I called the post office today and the phone rang for 10 minutes but no one answered the phone. Then I called the 800 #. I was told the wait time to speak to a representative would be 33 to 40 minutes, really, I guess the post office doesn't value its customer's time. I suppose I will have to pay to put stop payments on the checks and go to the post office to see if anyone is interested in looking into this problem. I am sick and tired of driving from Grove City to this Post Office (because they're open later) and it has closed 5 or 6 minutes early!!! It's happened twice in the last month. I go there late because everything I sell on Etsy is fragile and I know my boxes will be on top of all the packages that were shipped today. Once I started arriving right before closing, the number of items that got broken went from 15 to 20 items per year (out of 400-500 I ship per year) to 2 or 3 items that got damaged and since they refused to pay for the last 2 items for b.s. reasons, it's essential that I ship my items near closing and they leave town faster if I bring them here. I've filed 6 or 7 complaints online but they obviously just don't care because it's happened 7 or 8 times in the last year. So frustrating!!!! And I have to take time out that I could be spending painting another vase or whatever that I've sold because I have to contact my customers and explain why their items didn't ship today so thanks whomever shut the door early for adding to my already stressful day! read more
