Seriously, how do these people keep their jobs?! If anyone else gave this bad of customer service week in and week out, they would be fired. What makes post office employees exempt???
First and foremost, there is always a long line of people waiting at this post office, no matter what time of day it is. I've been here early in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon, and at closing time. It doesn't matter, there's always a long line. It also doesn't matter how many windows they've got open. It seems like they can have every single window open, and it still takes forever to get through the line, because the service is so bad. I have learned to only go to this post office if I can use the automated machine they have. Then I don't have to wait in the line.
The main reason I am writing this review is due to a recent experience I had in this post office. I came into the post office to ship a package to Australia, which meant I had to wait in the line. After waiting almost a half an hour in line, I finally was called up to a window where this gentleman was working. He asked where the package was going, and I showed him on the label where in Australia it was going. He asked me how quickly I wanted it to get there. I told him I really didn't know, that it would depend on the price, so I asked him what was the different prices for each speed. When I asked him the prices for each different speed, instead of giving me the prices, he asked me again how quickly I wanted it to get there. I repeated my answer again, that it depends on the price, so I needed to know the prices so I could decide how quickly I wanted to ship it. Once again, instead of telling me the prices, he just repeated himself again even louder asking me how quickly I wanted it to get there. I once more said to him that I couldn't make that decision without knowing the prices, so could he let me know the prices so I could decide. After saying that, he refused to serve me, and told me his coworker in the next window would have to take care of me. I was not rude, nor did I raise my voice. Why he chose to refuse to serve me made no sense. Plus, the question I was asking him was very easy and simple. All he had to do was type in the destination into his computer, and it would have shown him the four different prices for each speed. In fact, that's exactly what his coworker in the next window did before even asking me anything. When she did ask me a question, she listed each price and what the speed was, which was all he had to do. I have no idea what I did to make him refuse to serve me, but it was ridiculous, which I made sure to let her know as well. I was only asking him to do his job, and I wasn't even rude or loud. I don't think I've ever been treated so poorly.
In the end, it was over $100 to ship the item, which I expected. However, it just left me completely frustrated. Yes, it would have been much more money to send it by UPS or FedEx, and because of that, they don't really have to provide great service to customers. It's a service that ultimately people need. Who's going to boycott the post office? If UPS or FedEx was smart, they'd make their prices just slightly cheaper than the post office, because I think people would ultimately stop using the post office. Instead, the post office can get away with terrible customer service and employees, because at the end of the day we need them. At the very least, I'll stop going to this post office. Trust me, it's worth driving the extra mile to the next post office to avoid this one. read more
