This is one of the worst USPS locations I've ever been to. Every time I go there I leave disappointed. 1) It looks like a 1980 USPS location. Nothing is automated. Even if you need a stamp or you need to mail something simple you need to see an attendant. 2) There isn't a bin or a location where you can drop anything bigger than a letter which already has a label or stamp. So, once again you need to stay in line to see an attendant. 3) Regardless of what time of day you go, there's just one attendant on duty and a lot of people show up trying to ship something to NASA because they take forever. So the line takes a long time to move. 4) Parking is a nightmare. I saw someone getting a ticket because he did not feed the meter at 6:50pm (meters work just until 7pm) so you can see there are lots of greedy guards around. Try to do everything you can to avoid visiting this location. Bayonne is still stuck on the 80s and this USPS location is a clear example of that. read more

I would like to start with a question, How does a Post Office (The Main One in this town) run out of stamps at 3pm on a Thursday? I saw a little old lady in front of me at the line that you can tell had trouble standing and she requested a package she received a notice for. The package wasn't there and she was fine with that, but her next question was for stamps. "What do you mean, you have no stamps?" The teller then saids the next closest place is 42nd street and Broadway (almost a mile away). I am beyond shocked. But this wasn't my reason to come to the Post Office, for I am disgusted by how most Post Offices run and their employees act. I came in for a passport for my child. With a 3pm online appointment which required me to remove her from school a bit early, only to find that the 1 employee assisting with this has taken a lunch break and won't be back for another 30 mins. Are you fucking kidding me? As advanced with technology as we are, can we not find a way for you to see what appointments are scheduled for the day? Or like Pharmacists at Walgreens, take your lunch at the same time everyday and not have anyone scheduled. I am not alone, the 2:30 appointment has also not been serviced. This looks like a post office from the dark ages. There are no automated machines so even if you need to get a stamp you need to wait on line and the line is always long, regardless of the time of the day. I waited on line for over an hour, and had to keep running out to put money in the meter, otherwise I would get a ticket. It's very hard to find parking around the area too. There is no one in sight to ask a question. A manager should make an appearance to make sure everything is running correctly, especially when the line is almost to the back door! They should install some automated machines for shipping and stamps like other efficient post offices. It's insane to have to get on a line for a stamp!!! I asked for a book a domestic stamps and they only had a roll on 100 stamps for $84 and a card of childish stamps with a bear or tiger on it. What kind of post office is this? These bastards are stealing. I am lucky if I get mail 3 days a week. In June they claimed to have delivered a package for my daughter. I was sitting by the door, with the door open, and it wasn't delivered. Yet they scanned it as delivered. I'm sure they saw it was from Kate Spade and stole it. I put in a claim, I opened an inquiry, and no one investigates or gets back to you. I talked to the person doing deliveries the following week and he said no one delivered on our route the day that the package was supposedly delivered. Same thing happened Saturday. Delivery person left 2 pieces of mail, no package, but scanned the package as having been delivered. Did they need that used book so badly? This isn't just me - it's everyone. Look at the Facebook groups for Bayonne and the complaints are constant. The post office sucks beyond suck and they're doing nothing about it. Try calling - no one answers. Ever. I am at the point where I check to see if companies are shipping things via USPS and if so, I won't order. I have no trouble with Amazon or UPS. Oh, and they won't let me sign up for informed delivery, claiming on the website that my address doesn't exist, despite the fact that my house is over 100 years old. read more

This post office is absolute misery to deal with. Some of the worst, most incompetent, clueless employees on the face of the earth work in this building. It has gotten to the point that it is nearly impossible to get a parcel / package delivered to my address in Bayonne and there is no one here to turn to for help! They are all negative, helpless, nasty and rude.  I do not see how the govt allows an operation to be THIS bad. Is there any management in this building?? The main post office in Bayonne is decent. Everyone always complains about a post office, but everytime I come here, 2 of the 3 windows are open at least. Is it perfect, no. But it could be way worse. Its convenient because its located in the heart of broadway. The staff always kindly assisted me with anything I needed shipped out. They are well knowledgeable in their field. Bayonne is overcrowded so of course its going to be busy inside here daily. Its a hit or miss coming here, as sometimes there's a very short line , and other times it could be quite long. But as long as you have patience, your postage will be sent out with no issues here. read more

But the absolute worse is how the mail carrier leaves the mail sprawled out in the lobby. I counted 6 W-2's just laying there. Bills, credit card statements in clear view for anyone to take. I never use Yelp. I logged in for the first time just to copy and paste my Google review just now. I wasn't sure if the two vehicle registrations that the NJMVC sent to me getting somehow lost and never showing up were the fault of this local station or possibly a fault of a regional facility on it's way to our local hub. But after today, and factoring in all of the incidents in the last 5 years that I have lived at my address, I am pretty confident that it is indeed this facility's mismanagement more than anything that is the problem. Aside from the local mail carriers consistently dropping my mail and small packages off to completely different addresses, their mishandling of my vehicle registration (TWICE), the sometimes weeks I go without receiving a single piece of mail only to get some of it down the line months late, and the flagrant lack of interest in picking up their phone, the station manager and the person that had my route today flat out lied to my face about my mail drop off earlier in the day and then offered no legitimate solution for future mail drop offs here. I received a delivery confirmation at noon that my package was left in my mailbox. When I came home there was not only no package in my mailbox there was no mail at all. Anywhere on my porch. Not in or under the box nor on the ground or between the doors. Nothing. I promptly headed over to the post office to show them the tracking info, the number, my address, and the delivery confirmation. The station manager told me his employee dropped it off "below the mailbox on a ledge" I said well then it wasn't my address since I don't have a ledge under the box. And it's also conflicting with the information here that says it was placed in my mailbox. He said he took a picture of my home on google maps (in his mind he thinks this is solid irrefutable evidence to me that the package must have been dropped off) I said okay but what exactly is that showing me? I just gave you my address. So what. My package isn't there. He told me his carrier would come back and look. I got home and some good samaritan that received my mail was on my porch placing it my mailbox. I greeted them and asked how they got it they said it was delivered to them. I laughed because the postal workers had just lied to me. At 4pm the station manager called me and to cover his ass he said "sir my carrier that works your route is standing outside your home and confirmed for me that your house is in fact the home that he dropped it off at earlier at 12:30. I said stay on the phone. I immediately walked outside and there was no one there. I asked him to listen the sound of the cars whizzing by and a car honking. I asked if he could hear that and he acknowledged that he could and I said I can't fake those sounds. Your worker isn't here. No one is outside my home it's just me by myself. He walked it back and said "oh umm no he's actually on 29th street he WAS there. Now he isn't" I asked why he would call me and tell me that his employee was currently outside and confirming with him the address if it wasn't true. He simply just repeated himself word for word instead of setting the story straight. At that point I gave up. I didn't even bother telling him an honest person actually came to my home from their own to deliver it to me. Which completely revealed how these two postal workers were gaslighting me with zero care. Just two weeks ago they scanned a package of mine after it arrived to be sorted and delivered. Instead of sorting it for delivery. They accidentally scanned it and sent it to Queens, NY where it would eventually get scanned again and sent back to Bayonne a second time. Insane. These people do not care whatsoever. And full well knowing they are losing my mail they wouldn't even simply apologize and acknowledge that they made a mistake (albeit one that happens all the time) They don't care about you or me. This place is truly a disgusting excuse for a post office facility. I hope they get shut down and replaced. Sorry for the long winded review. I know it reads like the preamble to the constitution... I just am sick and tired of these weasels at the Bayonne post office. read more

I visit this post office every few weeks and the customer service is always super nice and kind. They get me in and out as quickly as possible and they haven't lost a package yet - that's all that really matters to me. This is about the Bayonne NJ post office at 570 Broadway. I had a passport appointment at 3PM to get my daughter's passport. Her dad had to come from a different state to be present . This took a whole month for me to arrange to ensure all of us could be present to get the passport. When I get to the post office the postal worker is at lunch, and I was told to come back at 3:30. I had to wait for 3:30. When she returned at 3:48 PM she immediately took a family who came into the post officer after me. I asked the worker why was she taking that customer first? She said she was going in order. I told her that I understood she had to take lunch during those appointment times, but that I was also on my lunch break trying to get my daughter's passport at my 3PM appointment. A supervisor then appears and tells me they are cancelling my appointment and the man in front of me told me I had to wait like everyone else. I was just mind blown. I am a supervisor at my place of work and if one of my case managers is away I have to cover for them. This was so unprofessional and i am so disappointed how I got treated right in front of my minor child. This post office needs real supervision with a staff who cares about their job and being of service to others. read more

Came in with an issue and it was resolved right away. Staff was super friendly and made sure to do multiple follow ups. Definitely felt like a valued customer. Postal staff as well as driver who was assigned my route went above and beyond to ensure my problem was solved. Supervisors even went so far as to ask where I would like my items left upon delivery to ensure no further confusion which I feel was super thoughtful. Apologies again to the driver on my route for the mixup and I'm glad we now have an understanding of where my deliveries will be left going forward. I drive to Lyndhurst to avoid this post office. Someone sent me registered mail from Europe. They made one attempt to deliver, and left a note. I came in two weeks later, and they claimed to have sent it back to Europe. They swore up and down that this was USPS policy. I started an investigation (which took forever because of the terrible automated phone system that USPS used). In the meantime, I asked my letter carrier if he remembered what had happened to my package. He said it was sitting at the Post Office; he had just seen it a day ago. I went there, told the front desk staff what he said, and they spent ten minutes looking in Registered mail, but claimed not to find it. I told them he had seen it in Certified mail, directly behind the front desk. There is was! Wow: how hard is it to turn around and look instead of lying about how the package was sent back? Only gave it one star because I had to give one to write this review. Horrible customer service surprised this agency is still in business. Came in to mail a package to my father and grabbed a flat rate priority mail box to place the package in. Asked the lady in the counter if she had a pen I could borrow to fill the label which needs affixing to the box. She looked at me like I was crazy and immediately asked, I bet you will need tape for that box too won't you. I simply stated that I need help mailing a package to my father and asked her if she was able to help me. She went on about needing to buy tape the only tape here is for labeling Priority Mail. I said I dont mind buying tape but isn't this box Priority Mail? She gets out of her cozy chair and walks away as if there was something more important around the corner than a paying customer simply wanting assistance. I just left the flat box and label on her counter and told her I will just go to the UPS store down the street to give them my money. Never even got that pen which was the main reason I needed to engage in conversation with that lady in the first place. Went to UPS store was in and out in a flash no questions or smirky comments like I was intruding their day. Package was actually cheaper to mail with them anyways which was not even an issue. At least I know there is a company that actually wants my business and money. A package being sent to me had not been delivered or a notice left. I called up and found out that there was an incomplete address, fair enough, not USPS' fault. They said I could come down and pick it up. The guy on the phone was very helpful, it was great service. I get down there a couple of days later on the weekend and another lady told me she sent it back as it had an incomplete address. In the past week all packages scheduled to be out for delivery at 6:10am are: not delivered, falsely claim delivery was made (actually delivered next day), or falsely claim delivery was attempted @8:44pm (expected delivery by 9 pm). Tried calling post office to inquire, but no one picks up phone. So in other words, our packages are left to the honesty of whomever is "delivering". Then cannot follow up if their honesty is not there. Any package scheduled after 6:10am-I do receive. This is not a coincidence. read more
