The Joke of Arlington Heights. 5 windows, never more than 3 people working and one is only for people with a pick-up slip. The other two deliberately (yes, it's that obvious) work as slowly as possible even when the line is out the door. I thought home delivery was 6 days a week, but no postal employee shows up at my address more than 4 days/week and usually after 6pm. Tracking shows packages delivered, but I don't understand HOW, since to mail carrier ever showed up on the day it said it was delivered. This post doesn't scan tracking numbers on packages dropped off. When addressed they said it wasn't necessary....WHAT?? An "origin acceptance" scan is crucial in the tracking of an item, letting everyone know the mailing date and that it's in post office hands. If they lose it on the truck forget about your insurance! All other post offices do an initial scan. It's either laziness or incompetence! I'm sure not coming here again is nothing but a win for these lazy employees! read more

I have been very frustrated with our mail service. We had no delivery or pickup on Saturday, so my envelopes of homemade masks for family members had to wait until yesterday. Today (Tuesday) I had three pieces of mail waiting to go, but the mail person (not our usual man) decided to just walk past my house because we had no mail. He didn't even look over to see if we had mail to post. I knocked on our window and indicated to him that we had mail and he rather reluctantly returned to retrieve it. We also have a standing order not to walk across our lawn - but this request is ignored by the subs who we have been getting lately. But one of the biggest issues is that the mailmen and women are not wearing masks or gloves. So they handle everyone's mailboxes and mail with bare hands which can easily pick up and transfer the virus. This is a very harmful and disrespectful practice during this Pandemic. I hope the post office issues some orders to wear appropriate gear and lets their mail people know they must get mail to post because people are staying in these days more than ever. read more

Terrible Service. We have had outgoing mail in our mailbox for four days now. It is more than apparent that this it not incoming mail because it is not rubber banded together so that excuse Mr Post Master does not fly. The mailbox was even propped open so the mail person could see we had a pick up. I had surgery and can't drive so I need the mail person to do their job. read more

I've had nothing but problems with this post office, they've lost and misdelivered 5 packages in the last 3 months. Customer service is non existent, the people in office are rude and apathetic, and any time they've called to assist me with something I already have more information than the person calling, absolutely unhelpful and useless. Unprofessional. On Friday, I got a notice at my home mailbox that a certified letter from the IRS was attempted to be delivered but I was not home to sign for it. Obviously certified letter from IRS made me anxious. Took the slip to AH PO on Saturday morning. Employee went in back for 5 min, came back out and told me to sign the slip on back and leave it in the mailbox. I did so and it was picked up on Saturday, but no letter. Nothing when I got home on Monday or Tuesday either. Since the PO was open to 6pm I went there at 5:45pm on Tuesday because the letter had me on pins and needles. Another trip to the backroom by the clerk and after 15 minutes she comes back to fill out a form about the letter for her manager so he can look into it. Since the PO Manager had my phone number and the PO manager did not call me, I expected to see the letter when I got home on Wednesday. Nope. Still No Letter. I go back on Thursday morning. I recognize the employees from my previous trips. This time THREE clerks leave their windows and head to the back room. After five minutes, two come back, but my clerk did not. A minute later she comes back with letter. The envelope is scrunched up a bit but totally legible. Clerk says, "sorry it was in the wrong place." Whatever that means. Then she asks for my ID. I pull it out of my wallet and hold it up where she can plainly see it through the clear plastic covid barrier so that she can confirm my address and ID. BUT NO, She insists on handling it "I have to see it." (meaning being in physical possession of it and hold it) Pure power play move by a petty tyrant. Then I have to sign for it (again). Lived in AH for over 25 years. This used to be a good facility. One by one the clerks have all been replaced. Now the clerks are incompetents who clearly dislike the people of the community. P.S. fortunately the letter was not as serious as I spent six days imagining it would be. read more

Since moving to Arlington Heights 2 years ago, I have never received more packages and letters for neighbors and had me saying packages that say they have been delivered to my house and never were. I recently went to the post office (2.5.22) to seek help with a missing package and the attendant told me "the package was delivered on Feb 1st at 3:22 pm." When I told her it wasn't she said I could fill out the online form for missing mail. When I told her I had tried multiple times over the past few days and the website kept saying "unable to process your request, please try again later" her response was "the website must not be working. That's not my department." I was going to let it go as it was only a $29 purchase, but I came home tonight (2.7.22) to a package on my porch that is for someone a block and a half away. I'm sure when that person calls to check on their package the post office will say "it was delivered to your address . . . " but it wasn't. It was delivered to my address a block and a half away. I know everyone is human and makes mistakes, but I'm going to start collecting all the mis-delivered mail that comes to my house and then go to the post office with local news cameras and see if they can explain to me why I keep getting mail for people all over my neighborhood and multiple pieces of my mail is missing. read more

THE absolute worst post office to deal with in the US. P.O. in Florida could not contact then at all! They ave a message instead of a human answering their number. Held mail winds up in your mailbox. Packages dfon't get delivered and their customer service is non-existant. This is a classic case of apathy and mismanagement and no one accepts any responsibility. Regarding Passport Service at this post office: HOW DOES ONE GET AN APPOINTMENT??!! This is my second go round with passports for my kids. The recorded message gives hours for the passport office BUT does not tell you that you NEED an appointment. Good luck with that!! First time I tried calling I got a constant busy signal for a week. I showed up on line and was told I need an appointment. Believe me! I tried! This time, I realized that no one answers the phone once transferred to the passport phone! I did get a human to cheerfully transfer me to a perpetual hold. It seems that this is a 2 visit process to get a passport. 1. go in to make an appointment for a passport. 2. come back to stand in line again for the passport. Postmastter! It's all about customer service or the postal service is doomed! No amount of advertising is going to help :( read more

The employees at this location are very rude. Apparently for this location you have to make Passport appointments weeks in advance... Which is fine I get it, but they had 2 cancellations at the end of their day and they STILL wouldn't take me because of some formality or something. Such BS. I went to the Itasca USPS and they thought that it was very odd that patrons needed to make appointments elsewhere. I have lived in Arlington Heights, Illinois for over 30 years and watched this post office deteriorate year after year. I will go to the Mount Prospect PO, the Woodfield PO which is fantastic or stand at the curb in order to give packages to my mailman - anything to avoid the Arlington Heights PO. I sell on EBay and print my postage at home. The employees resent this. If you bring an international package up to them (which is required), you will get quizzed on why you can't buy postage at the PO, what it costs to print it at home - then grilled on what's in each box. Not just the usual warnings about hazardous materials either. I get inappropriate personal questions about what I'm shipping. It's pure harassment because I didn't buy my postage from them. Most of the time, the drop-box is jammed, the lever is falling off, and despite all the employees wandering around, no one bothers to clear it of packages so it can be used. The parking is in short supply and difficult to get in and out of with people pulling in behind you to access mailboxes from their cars. No matter how long the lines - which are ridiculously long at times, the employees waste time with personal conversations with each other and with patrons. This post office should be closed down. The employees at the Mount Prospect PO are much more helpful and efficient and the employees at the Woodfield PO are fantastic. Woodfield even has carts you can borrow to bring heavy packages from your car. I mailed a priority package just this week that was estimated by the PO to have 2 day delivery. Tonight I checked tracking and despite being brought to the PO counter at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, it did not leave the Arlington Heights PO until tonight, Thursday, at 8:00 PM. This post office should be closed and the employees here deserve to lose their jobs. read more

You will notice - - - NO stars !! If you ever have any question or problem you can be assured that you will never get through to a person at this office. I've called for over 3 hours today 847-253-7806 and it has been a constant busy signal. We can only wonder as to the cause. Could it be that all their staff is helping at the counter so as to keep the lines under 80 feet and out the door? So !! If I have a problem or a question I am to drive to their office and stand in line. If I ran my company as such .... I would not be in business very long. He was the second person to help me and I was satisfied. I wasn't so happy with the First Lady who helped me. She had red and black hair and was very rude throughout the whole process. Was at Arlington Hts P.O after having issues with automated machine at BG PO when it was closed the day before. Had the teller weight my mail and stamp for me. When I told him about the address with Internal Rev Service and Illinois State ,he said it worked for him,no issues you have to enter P.O Box IRS .How would anyone know this.Never had this issue before, he said machine was updated and no one to contact on this issue. read more

First stop to this post office and I was in and out within 10 minutes. There is convenient parking on the west side of the building and more on the east. After entering on the North side I waited in a line of about 6 people. This was around the 5 pm slot and they had 3 to 4 people servicing at the time. I received my package and left without any hassle. read more

Folks here are generally quite helpful and friendly. 2 kiosks inside the lobby are helpful and available 24/7. Lines can be lengthy during busy times, but they move efficiently enough. Parking in the west lot can fill up quickly, but ample parking in the east lot read more

I like these folks. They are kind and efficient under pressure; regardless of some of the customers who are impatient and unreasonable.

This post office is typical of other government agency's that have absolutely no sense of urgency. But the mail delivery is why I am writing this. Sometimes we get mail, sometimes we don't. We get others mail constantly, and our mail is delivered to others constantly. Whoever the supervisor that is in charge of this place needs to light a fire under themselves and the other employees. this is the worst post office in history. i have had 2 packages this month say they have been delivered and they have not. this is the 2nd time in less than 3 years that i have had to file a police report. the police department even say how horrible they are!!!! i am going to have to move tot not deal with them anymore. i did talk to a nice woman there, but she has yet to help me. her being nice isn't cutting it. my next step if for me to go the mayor and/or the news. read more

This review is really of the US Postal Service in general but the Arlington Heights location can bare some of the blame. The error started with me. I shipped a box to my son and failed to put the apartment number on. So with no other way for them to identify where to leave it, they returned it from Virginia to Illinois. It took two weeks for it to get from VA to the Palatine Distribution Center. It floated between that office and the elk grove center a couple of times (based on the updates I got on my phone) only to land at the Arlington Heights office at 6 a.m. on Sunday February 3rd. I know they're not open on the 3rd but I figured I would get the return package by today, February 5th. I called that post office and was told to just sit tight it will arrive soon. I know from tracking the package through it's previous route, that it hasn't even left their office. I asked if I could intercept it by stopping in. Nope, you need to wait until we deliver it. Tonight is a ice storm and I can guarantee you that the U.S. post office will not operate tomorrow. That's the M.O. lately for that service. The biggest way they got tagged for this is I was waiting for a package all day and then at 7:40 pm they marked it as No Access which is total bs. I sent an overnight parcel and put the wrong address. Definitely my fault. I called the post office it would be going through 10+ times before I got someone on the line at 4:30. The woman who answered was not necessarily helpful but figured it out. I had sent this to my grandpa in his 80's who can't do it himself. He decided to pick it up himself instead of having the post office send it again. I called the post and they said no problem. 2 min after this I rec'd a call from a gentleman who needed to discuss my parcel(I thought was figured out??). I called back and spoke to an (extremely rude) woman. I attempted to explain the voice mail I got ( that was not from her because apparently she just got there and had no idea what I wanted and said "first of all I'm a woman and I never left you a voicemail if you need tracking check the website " she was very defensive and didn't help me. She was extremely rude and started arguing and yelling at me. She was not helpful at all even though I called the headquarters and they said they can do I it but you need to contact the post office from where the package is from. It took them 20 mins to find a package..plus i was in line for 15-20 mins or so..an hour of my life wasted at this under rated place! One of their staff members was talking gossip about cookies, baking for some party(and working slow at the same time) knowing that there is a big line waiting! UPS FedEx for me always. read more

The lady I spoke with on the phone was extremely rude when she was calling to tell me my package had been delivered and when it didn't arrive when it was supposed to. She then told me, "I should've known during the holidays no packages are a guaranteed delivery before the 25th" even though the expedited delivery date was the 23rd!!! I live in Brandenberry Park Condominiums and for the last year (since Joe our regular mailman retired) we have had the most horrible mail service imaginable. Our mail goes to the wrong mailbox, doesn't show up at all, comes sometimes at 6:00 p.m. My credit rating was perfrect until bills started disappearing, not showing up, etc. I don't appreciate calls and/or e-mails from companies that I have worked with for years and never missed a payment or made a late payment asking why I haven't made my payment. This is ridiculous and all the post office does is increase the rates and the service just continues to go downhill. We don't seem to have a regular postman and the people who do show up have no idea about our complex (how difficult is it to read a mailbox?). Also, I have been trying to call and have been on the phone for 5 minutes and it just keeps ringing and no one answers. What kind of service is this? It truly sucks that there is no alternative to the US Post Office so I guess you think you can just do as you please and screw the customers since there is no where else to go. Went to this post office today to mail a package. There were two people working the desk and one employee on the phone at a desk. The line was at least ten people long. The two people were working as fast as they could but what bothered me was the woman dressed in a black dress and pearls walking back and forth behind the counter---obviously a supervisor. The line was growing to about 14 people by then and this supervisor just continued to walk around slowly with the blankest look on her face. She was oblivious to the long line. If I worked there I would have pitched in and manned a desk. Not her, I've seen paint dry faster than she moved. Finally the third employee on the phone got up and started telling us about using the kiosk in the lobby. She helped me mail my package and when I left the line was still 12 long. I will use the kiosk from now on. Sad thing is the supervisor is probably getting paid double what the employees are!! read more

I try to avoid this place like the plague. The parking lot is always a mess! There is additional parking in the back, but it still manages to be a cluster. Not only that, this place houses one of the rudest, nastiest people working there - his name is Mike, and I can't wait until he retires. I had to mail off a few packages today and am totally ignorant to the whole process because I AVOID GOING THERE but I had to go today. Well, guess who "took care" of me? Yeah, Mike. I've seen him there before and I don't think he's been pleasant once. He's the type of person who looks at you like you're an idiot, rolls his eyes, acts like you're beneath him, ignores you during a general greeting such as "Hello, how are you doing today?". Maybe not a big deal to some people, but I've been in customer service for over a decade and just because you have job security doesn't mean people want to come into contact with you. I wish I could complain about him but he will never be fired, otherwise I imagine he'd be out by now. So here I am giving my review on yelp, because I want him to somehow stumble upon this and know how rude he can be and how upsetting it can be for a stranger who is only trying to be nice to you and figure out the best course of action for mailing a few items. /endrant read more

I am in complete agreement with all the other one star ratings on this site...but what good does that do when you live in Arlington Heights and have to have your residential mail delivered to an address that this Post Office "serves". In the last week, my neighbors to the north have walked over two first class mailed bills and one standard rate advertisement letter mailed to me, but delivered to their house. At the same time, I have had two items delivered to me that I've walked over to my neighbor immediately to the south. A huge "flunk" ratio considering I don't get all that much regular mail any more, and will be getting less as I convert more and more mailings to electronic delivery. I am intrigued by those who seem to have found a phone number at this Post Office that ever gets answered at all, no matter how rude the person.... I only seem to be able to reach pre-recorded messages with the hours and location recited. I guess if my "service" was as poor, I'd be reluctant to actually speak with any real live customers too. If you have any alternatives whatsoever, do not deal with this Post Office. All my outgoing mail gets sent from the regional location off the Northwest Highway just east of the Rt. 53 interchange. At least when I send mail from there, it gets to the intended recipient. read more
