this place has so much hate, but truly it is the most amazing post office, I'm a local resident and I also sell a lot of items on Depop and eBay and they have never let me down with shipping and it is always a very fast and easy experience. I'm pretty sure they have some new workers and they're absolutely amazing. I've recently just had a woman help me with processing my passport application, which was very important to me because I travel out of the country a lot and she helped me and my ethnic family of three other people very fast and efficiently with zero problems and triple checked to make sure all the information is accurate and I cannot stress enough How patient they are. I've had my passport and other important paperwork done more than two times at this place now and it is a 10/10. And if you're from Illinois, especially Chicago you know how awful USPS workers can be especially in the city sending you home for any missing document or even using the wrong tone with them, but they are truly the best over here. read more

I went out of town for 2 weeks in Jan. '26, and put a hold on my mail. When I returned, I was told there was nothing to pick up (not even junk-mail, which seemed highly unusual). On March 5, '26, I received a bundle of mail (held together by a rubber-band). This mail was postmarked Jan., and included several bills that I was subsequently charged a late fee on. When I spoke with the head of the A.H. post office (Euclid Ave.), she offered no apology, but said she would look into it and call me back. I've yet to receive a call back. The fact that I receive other peoples' mail (way too often), is bad enough, but misplacing my mail from Jan., and suddenly delivering it in March w/o explanation, is inexcusable. I get my Arlington Heights mail in what is called a "cluster" of mailboxes (12 boxes in a cluster). And even though MY NAME is cleared indicated INSIDE my locked cubbyhole box, I am dismayed at how often I get mail that is clearly addressed BY NAME (it's not junk mail) to one of my neighbors! I try to be neighborly and take the mail to my neighbor. It happens almost DAILY. This place is the slowest most inefficient garbage USPS store... stood in line for 15m for a 2 sec scan of a prepaid package... along with 5 other people holding packages... Because some punky (shaved head 40-something) was confused about whether her mail was being returned to the Post Office by her mother... apparently she got kicked out of that house... Like many residents of Arlington Heights who feel mail service is a disaster. I spoke to the postmaster to please stop the delivery of our mail. He promised to fix the problem. When we travel we stop our deliveries. We have tried for years but the postal employees still deliver. We were burglarized last February while we were away. The police said a giveaway that no one was home is when there is mail left in your mailbox. We have complained to no avail. The post master refuses to do anything about this problem or he is not capable of managing a post office like ours. If not replaced, should be retired or be retrained. I reported this problem to Washington, they just said this is a local problem and should be handled by the local postmaster even though they recive many complaints about the Arlington Heights Post office from residents. Mr postmaster how many burglaries are there in Arlington Heights due to the lack of concern on your part by making sure you employees are doing there job. This might be the worst post office in America. They routinely lose packages and when you call or visit with tracking information, they don't care. When a package requires signature, they don't even try to deliver it. The carriers are lazy and incompetent. I'm home all day everyday and they never knock or ring my doorbell. 12/2021 Came in with nobody there and they were helpful and friendly. Thank you. But I have come in twice in the past few days and tried to use the kiosk or even just drop a box in the package chute after hours. No Bueno! Kiosk is constantly down. Chute is full, so can't drop things off. Get to other USPS sites and maybe can drop off or use kiosk, but finding a place you can do both in after hours is always challenging. 1/2020 Nothing special. Same as everywhere. 2019 Your typical post office. People are never happy here and they always have 3 or 4 people at the counters, but only 1 maybe 2 are available for customers. Wish they would smile more. Been seeing some of them frown for years now. All services are here and they get the stuff mailed. But if they were really grateful for their jobs like people at Amazon, Fed Ex or UPS, they might smile. read more

This is my new post office after moving last month. Honestly, I'm happy with it so far. I've only had to make a couple trips since moving because I have a great post person who tries to shove everything in my mailbox (I also think I have the best UPS lady ever now & the best newspaper delivery person, but I digress). The lines at this post office are super duper long! And they are slow moving, but I guess for a good reason. The people who work here are super duper helpful. I heard one worker givings tons of helpful packing tips & tricks to a lady. Just in general, the workers I've dealt with here so far have been patient and quick to help. I was going to the post office right near Woodfield as it was the closest to my home & work (still is close to work so will probably stop in here and there), but the workers are leaps and bounds better than that post office. Another big plus of this post office is there is a TON of parking. That's a big huge plus as every post office I've ever had as my home base has had a parking shortage issue. read more

I had international package mailed to me with tracking number. Package made through Europe , several states in US , just to be lost at the local post office. I was bounced from one clerk to other with multiple promises they will look for my package and will call me. Nothing happened. This is how I and multiple other tenants in the 24 apartments on St James st receive our mail.Personally it happens at least 3 times per month. This time it wasn't just envelopes with paper bills inside this time it was a cardboard Hallmark Valentines card that was mutilated ! Not an easy thing to do plus a cardboard junk mail flyer that was TORN in 3 different areas, I've gone into the post office to complain and show them the photos but NOTHING HAS CHANGED and of course when I ask to see a supervisor they are NEVER around or "available" They've taken my name ,address and phone number but as of yet I haven't heard from anyone!! The employees working here are the nastiest, most miserable people I have ever had to deal with. I don't expect much given it's a government agency, but I have to feel sorry for the people who work at the registers here because their expressionless faces and voices lead me to believe they'd rather be dead than work another day at that job. In turn it's also a miserable experience for the customers who have to pay for these "services" and endure the totally horrendous experience of having to interact with those employees. My letter carrier/mail man delivers the mail however he opens the mailbox to put it in and he doesn't close the lid. I see mailboxes up and down my street as well as other streets with the lids open. Yesterday my lid was open and he didn't put my mail all the way in. It was sticking out. It was a large check I was waiting for. I am beyond angry. I have asked him to please close the lid. He did for a while but he's leaving the lid open again. It could be raining or windy and he leaves the lid open. Very incompetent. You call the post office number and all it is - is a voice automated junk. I have changed all my bills to be emailed. No paper. I am convinced by the person who eventually called me back to never trust the US postal service. I had a complaint that for the third time, we had our flag up for mail pick-up and again was not picked up. The carriers also leave the mailboxes open on various neighbors and do not put the flag down when they DO pick up mail. I just was repeatedly told if there is an obstruction or too much snow we will not get service. I could not get this person to stop repeating herself and interrupting to let her know that was not the case. We consistently have trouble with our mail delivery from this postal location. We are home, looking out our window, watching the mail delivery person label our Amazon package as being UN-deliverable because they are unable to access our front door. The front door that they just left our mail at. The front door that is easily accessible. I know this because I am looking out my front window. Sad thing is, this isn't the first time we've had to go to the post office, ask why they didn't deliver our package, only to have them call the mail carrier on their cell phone to re-deliver it. Of course, they always have some excuse...usually "I didn't think anyone was home", even though the package does not require a signature, the cars are both in the driveway, and the television is on and is easily seen from the street. But, hey, I'm sure a lot of folks leave an empty house with their electronics running and their cars in the driveway, so, you know... Perhaps it's just me, but the United States Postal Service no longer takes pride in the work they do. They come across as lazy, arrogant and unfriendly; quite a change from how it was when we first moved here 30 years ago and our carrier introduced himself and would stop and talk to us on a regular basis. It's a different world, I guess. I'm not running to the USPS to get this package this time. I'll cancel the order with Amazon. Perhaps if more of us do that Amazon will stop using this poor delivery service to handle their packages. On the plus side, we actually got our mail today! This is not exclusive to Arlington Heights! I have office in South Barrington and home in Roscoe, Il. My children send the photos of the cards they receive, always torn open. Any gift cards or checks have been taken out. I've tried mailing direct from the post offices as well as curbside at mailbox, no difference. I have complained to both post offices, I get multiple calls, from supervisors, tell my story, all with promises of doing better or excuses of why it may have happened. Nothing has changed in last 2 years except, I no longer use the post office. I send everything by Zelle, and cards by email. How about weekly lie detectors tests? I called to speak to our local mail carrier yesterday but they were unavailable so a supervisor got on the phone. I inquired about a package that said was delivered in our mailbox but wasn't. The supervisor said he would get back with me once he got a hold of the mail carrier but after about 6 hours I went ahead and called back. It was still right before the location closed. No one picked up the phone. So this morning at 9 AM again no one picked up the phone. I've called four times and no one has still picked up the phone. All I want to know is where my daughters package is at since the tracking information says it was delivered inside of our mailbox. It sucks that my daughter who just turned 16 got her first job and bought herself something with her first check and her package is missing and we can't get any answers. My guess is the mail carrier must've put it in the wrong mailbox. We just want to know what happened to the package! We would need some type of proof from USPS so the package can actually be replaced from the company. read more

I only write reviews when the service is either horrible, or it is exceptional. I called around 8:40am to track down my shipment and schedule it to pick it up at the location, but I was put on hold over a half hour. Yes, this would seem like this is horrible service just to track a shipment that would take a matter of minutes, but it did not end there. I called back (the fourth time) and I got a lady that went the extra step. Tracked it, and even ran outside to find the mail man to stop my package and keep it at the office. Moral and tip of this review is that you just have to find that one out of the three persons that work there, some patience and a lot of credit. Thank you whoever did that for me. It took forever for someone to even get to me as the were only two people working. The people who were working were arguing the whole time, in front of the customers, with another employee. Finally when I get up there they refuse to give me my package because my address didn't match on my license. I tried explaining that I had just moved and that these are party decorations that I had ordered from etsy, for my daughters 1st birthday. I work every day so nobody home, for them to be Signed for She refused to give me them even though my name matched my drivers license, really? You couldn't have helped me out in any way? 100% agree with all the 1 star reviews here. I dropped off a priority package at this post office (the dropbox employee took it in person). After about 5 days with no tracking update I called and actually got the postmaster who said it typically takes 6 days to Brooklyn so give it some more time. 10 days later there was still no tracking update. I called in and spoke with 3 different people, none of who could help me and one lady was extremely rude and hung up on me saying she has other customers! I called again and another lady was finally able to see the package was still in Illinois. When I nicely asked if she might know what may happened, she told me "you should just be happy we found it and it's moving". I let her know that it had been 10 days already, when delivery to Brooklyn is around 6 - to which she demanded "says who?". When I told her the postmaster, she just said "oh". Extremely unprofessional attitude from these employees. They don't seem to care at all about the quality of customer service, and are reluctant to even go through the motions... read more

I have a two part review here; As others have mentioned, this office has either exceptional service, or it is awful. Good first; One word- HUGO. Hugo delivers the mail for the office where I work. Hugo goes out of his way to help us out, and even on days when you can tell he is tired, he is ALWAYS pleasant and lovely. Everyone in our office adores him. If we have multiple large packages, Hugo will come back at the end of his route to pick everything up. He doesn't have to do this (we really should be dropping these packages off ourselves)-- yet, he does. When we have questions regarding postage amounts and the like, Hugo always knows the answer. If Hugo ever finds work elsewhere, or is assigned a different route, I know everyone at this office will be DEVASTATED, myself included. WE LOVE YOU HUGO!!!! Now for the bad; When it comes to my residential address, my mail carrier is a different story. Often, she will mark packages as being delivered when they are not. I do not know her name, but I do want to mention she is an incredibly pleasant woman regardless of my complaint(s). However- when expecting a package, and tracking it online, it is very frustrating that she is not consistent. In one instance, she even delivered the package to an apartment complex down the street instead of my address. After dealing the nightmare that is the USPS customer service line, I was finally able to resolve the issue after almost 2 hours on the phone. The workers at this actual location deserve a lot more credit for what they deal with on a daily basis. As someone who visits the post office almost every day of the week (PO BOX), I have very few complaints that I believe are due to a lack of caring on the part the employees. However, I would like to say, it would be nice if there were more people working at the front desk. Or at the very least, a more consistent means of picking up packages instead of waiting in the line (which is always very long). read more
