I've never been in this branch and not seen every employee hustling to serve the public. I've never seen an employee of this branch be anything but helpful, and they're usually friendly and welcoming in a way that's remarkable when you consider they're doing it for hundreds of customers, day in and day out. I feel like the USPS rates for shipping things are remarkably low and - while you might have to wait if you don't time your visit just right - I don't know you can do better than here at the Steve Schiff office. read more

I know that most people, myself included, don't get too excited about going to the post office. Nor are we expecting to be blown away by outstanding customer service when we're there. I also realize that the personnel you might find working behind the counter are not always the same on any given day. However, the employee who helped us today, Michael Maple, was beyond exceptional! He was so upbeat, professional and enthusiastic. That's right - I said it. He actually made me happy to be in the post office! (Never felt that before). You know how, after receiving exceptional service at a restaurant, you always request that server again? Well, anytime I go the the Steve Schiff Post Office, and I see Michael Maple behind the counter, I will wait - no matter how long - to be able to do my business with Michael Maple. Never did I EVER think I would want to write a review for a postal employee, but I couldn't wait to write THIS one!! Oh if there were more people out there like Michael Maple!! read more

This station will not deliver packages to our door - unless it's Amazon Sunday. We are not gated. My garage and front door are visible from the NBU/cluster box. Mail and chunkies? Fine. I asked an instructor down on Central that administers the driving tests for carriers, an instructor at the airport for the academy, and my own step father who just retired after 41 years (22 in management). Once again....the post office disappoints another tax payer. I quit using the post office about 18 years ago with my business......stories for another day. Today I waited for almost 30 minutes. Got the the next helper who had helped the same lady for the whole time I was in line. I have an injured right hand and am in a cast. When I asked the gentleman to help me fill out the small information for an international shipping he told me there was a line and I would have to go do it (find someone to write it for me and then get back in LINE AGAIN!!! If I had been a woman I'm sure he would have helped me just like the 30 minutes he spent with his previous customer!!!! Just another story of how bad the UP Postal service is and treats it customers who are tax payers!!!! ASSHOLES!!!! I spoke with the Manager "Terry", she said she knew whom it was ...... Omg, just had the best post office experience with Greg. I was sending a passport renewal and Greg was smart and professional. He helped me find the right packaging and was so kind. He knew a ton about the passport process and reassured me that it would get there soon! It is so refreshing to interact with an employee who knows so much about their industry! The friendliest and most helpful staff ever! I love these guys! But the big problem is that they keep changing the hours! They used to be open 24/7 which was great, but then they had a problem with homeless people so they started closing at 8pm and 3 pm on Sundays. Now they don't even open on Sundays?? It's really inconvenient to limit the hours. I'm willing to use my tax dollars to hire a security guard to patrol instead of limiting my access. read more

Convenient, clean, friendly employees. They have an Automated Postage Machine, a full selection of flat rate boxes and shipping supplies, and greeting cards. Truly, no one should go to the Post Office at their lunch hour unless it's a dire necessity because of the lines, but if you can wing it before or after lunch, you're golden. read more

A post office is a post office is a post office and this is a post office. Nothing exciting or nothing to get excited about (unless you're waiting for a check of course.) The staff can vary from 2 to 3 to a full staff working. They have a small area where they sell shipping boxes, shipping tape, paper, and cards. They also have an area where you can purchase stamps and send out prepaid packages and boxes without having to stand in line. We have our post office box there which is convenient because we can go and check our mail at anytime and we know it's safe. If you have large items, you receive either a key which will let you into a larger box but if you have a larger item that won't fit into that box then you get a yellow paper that you have to take up to the counter. During Christmas time they have a door you knock on and someone will attend to you quickly instead of having to wait in a long Christmas time line. Come here if you need Postal Service there's usually plenty of parking and it's usually not very crowded. It's located on the north east side of Candelaria and Eubank with easy entrances and exits. read more

Ok I went in 2 weeks before Christmas. The line was to the door, the self service kiosk was backed up into a double line. It was a mad house, and yet, it was a quick experience with friendly staff....whaaaaa?! They had a super friendly employee at the front door expediting people into different lines. She was selling stamps, taking flat rate boxes, and retrieving mail as needed for people. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. The line to mail other packages (my line) moved smoothly and quickly. Every single employee was friendly and efficient and provided amazing service. The woman behind me in line and I discussed how well this team was managing the holiday crush. Truthfully I don't go to post offices often these days, but when I do.... it's Candelaria for me. read more

This post office is always helpful. Sometimes the parcel key won't fit and they send someone right out to get the package. When I have to return a package because it doesn't fit in the parcel locker, I give them a call and they send it back, no problems. I hate that Amazon uses USPS, however, when it works, this post office is one of the best mail services there is. For some reason, Yelp has me with a different name and in San Francisco. It's a Saturday during Christmas time so I fully expected to be here for at least 30 minutes or more. Yes it's was definitely busy when I walked in about 12 deep. I quickly noticed 4 stations open plus an extra worker w a portable station. It only took 5 minutes. Yes I said 5 minutes to get through the line. The customer service was top notch as well. This place is the WORST! Nothing but problems for over a year. They say they'll deliver to specific locations then say they don't do it, they have lost my mail, they never left notices about packages so if I didn't know about one, I missed out. The latest? I moved out of their zip code and had forwarding on. Monday I ran into their mail carrier and asked them to see if anything was coming for me, explained I was moving. She said no, and I had to wait. I explained I was handing over my keys and couldn't wait, she was rude as hell and refused again saying if forwarding is on, I'd get it. WELL GUESS WHAT! A package got delivered to my apartments instead of being forwarded to my new address. I opened a case and still haven't received this- I still live in town by the way, it doesn't take 3 days for this. It had to travel 2 miles. And today, ANOTHER package was delivered by them to the wrong address, the incompetence here is unbelievable. At this point they are knowingly delivering mail to the wrong address, andI would recommend anyone to think twice before entrusting them with your mail or sanity. You might never see it again! I hope I NEVER have to deal with these people again. After much more of their incompetent crap, this review needs updating. I'm finally able to finish here, but there is no happy ending. This post office lied to me about my package being able to be forwarded. Media mail cannot be forwarded, I couldn't even upgrade the postage to make it happen. And since they screwed around with me so much over this, the missing package has been disposed of. I can't even go somewhere to pick it up, they threw it out. I've filed a formal complaint about this office now and you can be 100% sure I will NEVER give them business again. Beware! These are the shadiest people out there. They were the originating post office for something shipped from the UPS store and sent something guaranteed to be in Waco yesterday, to Washington DC. I have dealt with post offices and post office boxes all over the country. The Steve Schiff Post Office on Candeleria is the best ever! These guys really go out of their way to help you and to solve your problem. Rick along with Greg Nelson pulled off a miracle in helping us get a desperately needed post office box in Florida while we were still in Albuquerque and in the process of moving. They tried every legitimate avenue and Greg followed it all the way through to the top of customer service -- and got it done! Rick sometimes helped me lug huge boxes out to my car, if he wasn't busy with other customers. They have a real heart for customer service and are a credit to the U.S. Postal Service and an asset to Albuquerque. read more

Slow, avoid this post office if possible. The staff was not as pleasant as the post office on Juan Tabo. But they got better by getting some of the staff from the Juan Tabo office to staff the front desk at this office. Glad to see the proactive management. The staff is more professional and polite now. But the lines can still get pretty long. Access is tenuous as there are multiple entrances very close to each other off of Candelaria.Be careful in the parking lot. read more

This is the most unfriendly, uncooperative, unhelpful business I have ever seen. (And the post office IS a business...a fact we should remind this branch frequently so maybe they'll get their acts together!) over the last 15 years of living in the area, I have never had a positive encounter. The staff is rude and will lie to your face rather than do work...to the point that it's laughable. If you have lost packages or mail-which is often with these guys-forget it. They will not help you-and they won't even pretend to try...they just say no...the U.S. postal service is definitely past its prime. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I had a package delivered from Hawaii a week ago but was unable to get it from the post office. These boxes contain vital resources for me to start my new teaching job in Albuquerque in ONE WEEK from today. I went online to specify the exact date I would pick it up (today) and received a confirmation email with a number for my claim. I go to the office today and a delivery supervisor flippantly tells me that there is "no communication between online notices and what happens in the post office." WHAT IS THE ONLINE SERVICE FOR?! He offered no assistance, closed the delivery service door IN MY FACE, in front of other customers. I'm filing a claim on the phone as I type this with USPS customer service. I'm disgusted at the lack of professionalism I experienced from the delivery supervisor today. Shame on you, Candelaria USPS. I wish I could give a no star rating, but Yelp won't let me be honest in that sense. I sincerely hope things change for the better. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Up until recently, I would have rated this post office at least 4 out of 5 stars. But a very recent experience has me wondering. On, Thursday, 09/04/2014, a letter carrier was videoed on my cctv camera system delivering mail and a parcel at our communal mail box at or about 3:34:41 p.m. Mountain Time. She left at 3:38:19 p.m. Mountain Time. When I went out to get my mail at 3:39:30 p.m. Mountain Time, I noticed I had a KEY in my individual mail box, which opens a larger mail box designated for packages too large to fit in our individual mailboxes, BUT NO PARCEL. Puzzled, I contacted the station at 3:45 p.m. Mountain Time, also on 09/04/2014, to find out what had happened. A male postal clerk took down my concerns and assured me he would call me the next day, 09/05/2014, after he had conferred with the carrier. I waited until 11:30 a.m. Mountain Time the next day, Friday, 09/05/2014, and called them at (505) 346-0985 (there's also another number at (505) 346-0990). At that time, I spoke with a female postal clerk, who also took down my concerns and said she would deliver a note with the carrier the next day with an explanation. The next day, Saturday, 09/06/2014, the actual carrier stopped by and gave me a 'story' about the package being misdelivered to another address, the person to whom it had been 'misdelivered' then bringing it to my address and leaving it by my front gate, alongside of another package that was already there. The implication here being that it had been MISDELIVERED, it had been brought to my address and left by the front gate by a neighbor, and from there it had (by implication) been stolen by party(ies) unknown who left the other ALLEGED package alone. Well, the problem with THAT scenario is that I did not receive any packages at all, from ANYONE on Thursday, 09/04/2014, and the cctv video footage confirms that. On 09/05/2014, I DID receive a package via FedEx, which was brought in within 15-20 seconds after the FedEx delivery person had rang my doorbell. So this WHOPPER of a tall-tale, made me review ALL of the cctv video footage. NO ONE delivered any packages to me at all on 09/04/2014, and the only package delivered to me on 09/05/2014, was a FedEx package which is present and accounted for. What bothered me the most was the Letter Carrier LYING TO ME STRAIGHT-FACED WHILE LOOKING ME IN THE EYE. I then wrote a letter to the Steve Schiff Station Manager and mailed it on the evening of Saturday, 09/06/2014, outlining EXACTLY what I have outlined here. I did not hear back from ANYONE at the Steve Schiff Station as of 9:45 a.m. Mountain Time, 09/15/2014 (eleven days after the incident). So I called the US Postal Inspection Service and reported the incident, BEING CAREFUL not to accuse anyone of anything, other than me not being told the truth. It was assigned case number CA-119406892, by the very professional and courteous "Lynette" who took down the incident. Shortly before 12:00 p.m. Mountain Time on 09/15/2014, low and behold I heard from "Charlie" at the Steve Schiff Post Office. He stated he HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY LETTER FROM ME. Somewhat bothered, I offered to go down and present ANOTHER COPY OF THE LETTER I HAD MAILED 09/06/2014, to him, and GIVE HIM A COPY OF THE CCTV VIDEO FOOTAGE ON A DVD. I documented my hand-off at Steve Schiff Post Office. Today, 09/16/2014, I heard from "Andy" the actual station manager, who said he had conducted some sort of 'trace' of all tracking numbers and there had been no packages delivered at all to our street at 09/04/2014, by the carrier in question. I asked what about the package that was shown to be PLACED IN THE COMMUNAL MAIL BOX, THEN TAKEN OUT, and PLACED BACKED IN THE TRUCK by the carrier at 3:38.07 p.m. Mountain Time on Thursday, 09/04/2014, by the carrier. He said she 'had made a mistake'. When I asked about the WHOPPER of a LIE that the carrier had told me, he said "Oh, that was totally bogus", with no apology or regret offered. I was forced to accept the explanation reluctantly since I have no prima facie evidence of anything and must rely on what "Andy" the Station Manager at Steve Schiff Post Office tells me. THE SAME CARRIER IS STILL DELIVERING MY MAIL. Today, 09/16/2014, when I went out to get the mail, I found the circulars which normally arrive FLAT, scrunched into a 'ball'- no doubt to indicate the Letter Carrier's displeasure. So here I am, FORCED to rely on a Letter Carrier that LIES STRAIGHT-FACED TO YOU because she can't admit to making a simple mistake (hell I make mistakes all the time!) and backed up by the US Postal Service since she is still delivering the mail to our 'auxiliary route'. The lesson here is, if you live in the delivery area of this Steve Schiff Postal Station, DO NOT HESITATE to file a complaint about mail irregularities. read more

I have lived in my new house for just under 2 years. Before I lived here, there were a slew of renters who came and went. Needless to say, I still get ALL of their mail. Every one of them. And let me tell you, that's a lot of people and alot of mail. I have called the Steve Schiff branch several times to complain about getting other people's mail. They told me to place a sign on my mailbox with my name and a request that states to deliver my maul only. I have done that. They still deliver other people's mail to my house. So, I wrote 'return to sender. No longer at this address' on several pieces of mail thinking they would RETURN TO SENDER. But no, they just re-delivered that mail back to my house WITH MY HANDWRITING ON IT! I have spoken to several supervisors and have even had a post man come to my house and write ANOTHER note, inside my mail box, to remind the post men to deliver just my mail. It hasn't worked. Nothing has worked. The people who deliver my mail from this location are LAZY and couldn't care less about their duty to the people they serve. Unfortunately I am stuck with this location and am at my wit's end. Hopefully someone will actually READ th is review and start making some much needed changes.
