I visited the office this morning to ask about a letter I had received. Unfortunately, my experience with the employee who assisted me was very disappointing. Although I remained calm and respectful throughout the interaction, she was consistently rude and dismissive. She interrupted me, would not listen to my concerns, and did not give me the opportunity to explain why I was there. I understand that these offices can be busy and stressful, but everyone deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect. Because of this experience, I plan to submit a formal letter describing what happened, including the employee's name, in the hope that future visitors receive better customer service. read more

Oh my gosh, this is the second time I have gone to this office and they are wonderful! Yes you need an appointment but my situation made it important that I go before 12/1 and the only appointment was mid December so the woman made an appointment for me and told me to come in that afternoon. Took care of me and I was so grateful. Ran into another couple with similar circumstances and they were so grateful! Thank you! read more

I recently have needed SS help with my special needs nephew and had the nicest lady on my first visit. On my second visit, I had the rudest person I ever had to deal with. I now have to go again....please let it be the nice lady! I went back and help from two people who were wonderful! I must have just gotten a bad apple on my previous visit. read more

Omg. If ya'll need do anything at the social security office and gave the availability do NOT go to the downtown one come to this one! The staff is so friendly, quick and knowledgeable about everything. I showed up in the morning and was in and out in less than 20 min! Same with most of the people who were sitting and waiting, security and the people that were waiting, we were all sitting and talking about how wonderful this location was. Sandy was SO rude. I genuinley am infuriated. I've come to this office 3 times to get my son a SSN. The last time they said it went through and I'd get a card in the mail. I did not. So I called today, Sandy says "we have no application" maybe I have the name wrong idk make an apt. When I ask to speak to someone else she refuses. This is wild to me. I am a Black man and was racially discriminated against on 06-26-24 by male Hispanic and Manager and White female agent with tattoo on right arm. I am a first responder of 46 years and was treated like dirt. Called national security office and was treated with dignity and respect. Will report the discrimination of this office to National SSA Office. I would not recommend this office, especially being Black in NM. read more

I submitted my SS a couple of weeks ago and quickly realized I had made an error. I tried in vain to correct it online without any luck, and the phone number had a one-hour and 56 minute wait. The federal website appears very easy to use, but unfortunately a lot of these "easy" to fill out fields have very complex and serious repercussions if done incorrectly. So after getting my SS approved I was already planning to cancel my request. I decided to visit the Rio Rancho office. I got there as they were opening the door. The ten people in line were immediately given a representative...no wait. Wendy was incredible, she listened to my story, pulled up my case and addressed my issue! Stress GONE! She was professional, and made my issue her priority. She educated me on many aspects of this process. Can't thank her enough. Best experience ever in a government building. Thank you. read more

THE WORST!!!! I submitted a claim for survivors benefits. The case manager, Ben Chavez, inputted all of my information and then said that I had a 99.9% chance of being approved. He was actually more excited than I because he said, "Wow, this is a life-changing event!" because my father was a firefighter for 27 years and so the benefits were going to be high. A week later I called him to check the status and also to make an appointment with him so I can give him the medical records which prove that I was disabled before I was 22 years old. He never picked up the phone and so I left two detailed voicemails telling him that I need to give him the medical records which are vital to my case. He NEVER called me back and so I just received a letter in the mail from Social Security saying that they denied my case because they referred to an old outdated medical record written by one woman who met me once for an hour. For my Depression I have been seeing doctors every month and have been on medication since I was 14 years old when I first tried to commit suicide. I have all the medical records to prove it... So because of Ben Chavez's negligence to do his job, I have to go through this whole appeal process that is an entirely overwhelming ordeal for me. If Ben Chavez does not want to do his job, he should get another job! read more

These people don't care about people. They know there is no accountability with them. They say leave a rating at the end of the call, but there isn't one. Rude. Every time I have called. My husband passed away and they don't explain the benefits. So I have to call them again. Same rude lady. Poor excuse for an employee! read more

Competent, friendly staff! Fantastic experience. Took less than 20 minutes to get the paperwork dealt with. Very highly recommended (it's further from Albuquerque, but the road construction in Bernalillo is pretty much done, so no driving delay either)! read more

Wow! In and out in 24 minutes! I arrived at 1pm on a Thursday, I checked in on the kiosk which provides you a service number and waited to be called. I noticed about 8 people waiting ahead of me in the lobby. Aside from the commute, this facility is clean and the staff was both friendly and efficient. read more

My husband has physically gone to and called this branch several times. He had the required forms submitted 3 months in advance in order to enroll for Medicare Part B, after he was no longer covered under my corporate insurance. They have been no help at all even though they say "we are here to help you"....not. You can't get them on the phone, if you leave a voicemail, they don't call you back. What a waste of taxpayer money. They may as well not be there because the result would be the same. I wouldn't have even given them one star but I had to in order post the review. read more

If you MUST go here be warned Treated like a herd of cattle. Can't call to make appointment because no phone number. You will sit and sit til you get called. God forbid you get Angela as your rep. Very rude. Does not listen. Just wants to fire information at you and get you GONE. Even provided the wrong form to fill out. Discovered that because a subsequent rep caught it and replaced it with the correct form which had to be filled out again. Horrendous treatment, wrong form, rude Beth. What else is there to say? I am very disappointed with Social Security Administration. I understand the state of New Mexico is still shut down but there is no reason for the phones not to be answered. The long waits on the phones and being hung up on. There is no reason not to be able to make Appointments for June either. Just because my elderly parents moved to this state, they should be cared for as well. read more

I like everything about this location beginning with the parking and since my husband is in a scooter and I sometimes must use a walker it is easier to put together his scooter, the parking lot and inside the building are clean, the seating well arranged, the employees are helpful and polite, including their security guard that came outside to tell us no beverages were allowed in the building. It was better than coming in and having to go back to the car with my iced tea. I'm thankful for the ease to get to this location and I don't have to encounter scary street people as when trying to get into the downtown location. read more

I would give negative stars if possible. Rude, arrogant, disrespectful staff. Joked about the location of the window I was to go to, made error and told me I would have to correct it, told me to use a computer that timed out, was given a phone with poor instructions that did not work and yet another "public servant" insulted me when I finally found someone and waited in line and tried to get help, security whatever who gave wrong info on phone and then went all macho because I was trying to find help. Think for a minute about if this had been a private business with a half dozen rude employees not helping, hiding, slaming windows shut in your face and insulting you just because you tried to find someone, anyone, to help correct the errors they made! Keep Social Security and Medicare, But Privatize the service delivery and maybe these arrogant "public servants" will be taught a lesson. read more

The office is organized, true. However, I have mixed reviews re staff. A generic complaint is the absence of name plates or tags, and although I was addressed by name, staff did not extend a hand and/or give me their name. have the poor experience of being given, spoken, different information by different staff people. This has resulted in several months delay in my daughter's case. Additionally, I was spoken to in a confrontational tone by someone acting as though a supervisor, but who denied there being one in the office.
