I went online to locate specific packing boxes to pick up at a U-Haul store near me. This location showed they had 13 boxes at $6.95 a piece. I sent my husband to the store and the clerk said the cost was $8.95 each. When questioned, the clerk indicated that it was cheaper online. When I called U-Haul they said independent dealers could charge more, but didn't think it was that much. I was about to enter all my credit card information and make the purchase at $6.95 each as I was at home and my husband was at the store. I was then told they only have two boxes available. So, the moral of the story is you cannot rely on the inventory shown online and do not purchase and say pick up at store because odds are they will not have what you need and you have now wasted all your time. The clerk at this location was no help and didn't offer solutions. I then contacted U-Haul's Buyer Program (800) 269-6737 and they attempted to search for a "U-Haul" location that was not an independent dealer and they found my boxes, called the store to confirm and confirmed the price was $6.95 per box.
