Absolutely fantastic experience. I'm staying in Wilton Manors for the month and needed a reliable place to handle my mail and packages while managing things out of state, and this place has been nothing short of amazing. The team is incredibly transparent, friendly, quick, and efficient. Everything is clearly communicated, and the process for storing and picking up mail and packages has been seamless. Outrageous!! Daylight Robbery!!! What a rip off! My British friend, who's new to the US so doesn't know how things work over here ie the difference between between going to a USPS and a package store and told the staff here that, went here to mail me a package. She mailed me a small USPS flat rate box which should have been $10.20 plus a little extra insurance (about $5 extra) she was charged $32.75!!! That's a charge of $17.25 for the employee of "The Mailbag" to take her info, print an address label and stick it to a USPS small flat rate box! Mailed off two pediatric N-95 masks for my nieces on June 29, 2020 by priority mail. I was told by the older gentleman at the counter that they would definitely arrive by Thursday July 2nd. So I paid $12.50 with assurance that it would arrive at that time. Big mistake!!!!! I tracked the PRIORITY MAIL and guess what? The masks aren't arriving until Friday July 3rd. This is very, very frustrating do to the fact that my nieces are flying out from SEA to FLL July 3rd. NO N-95 masks for my 8 and 12yr old nieces!!!! It has been incredibly hard to get my packages shipped overseas especially after the Covid lockdowns, not even USPS could give me a definitive answer as to when they could send my parcel out- I'm so thankful that just a few doors down was The Mailbag and Dave made it happen. I agree this could be a good fit for folks needing something more custom than just mailing out a package. Mailbag has much more in the way of supplies and options. Personalities aren't really important to me, but pricing is. One day Priority Mail for my package per USPS website calculator: $7.65. Mailbag charge was $12.50. Ok, the guy is entitled to a margin, but 64% markup? I'll wait at the PO for 5 minutes for $5 savings next time. read more

Be warned- do not get a mailbox here! The absolute worst! Not sure if the person "running thIngs" has an issue with people who don't look like him. Every encounter was dry, irritated and bothered. "Sorry, to bother you every 3-4 months, but I am paying you!" I had a mailbox there and set it up as a set price. I've used mailboxes in the past- it's a set fee. Mail gets sent to me, you put my box, and when I come and collect, you give it to me. If I have an overflow, they call me. I either pick it up or pay for them to send it to the city I'm in. These idiots kept trying to charge me extra to scan and store, scan and recycle. Something I said several tImes I'm not interested in. I receive only a few official documents and some junk mail each month. It is really not that hard to put the mail in a box and go about your day. Instead, I had to contact the location several times to complain and pay extra fees and request standard service. I paid several hundred dollars in fees despite not wanting the extra services and after speaking to the manager tho we resolved the issue. After several months i've now only paying the standard fee and I went to collect my mail thinking that I had a restored relationship with them. However Mr. No personality casually says to me "oh I canceled your application." Okay, what? You can just cancel service that I pay for and rarely use? I guess he was mad I only wanted to pay for them to collect my mail. Now I will have to find where the document I was looking for is. If you want to be a personal assistance service- advertise that, not that you are a mailbox. I would rather pay the extra fees and have a virtual office, versus some introvert opening and reading my mail. read more

Thank goodness for The Mailbag on Las Olas Boulevard!!!! My husband and I are US expats, currently living in the Bahamas. We fly into Fort Lauderdale periodically to pick up our mail and Amazon shipments (sometimes many boxes!). The postal system in the Bahamas is expensive and does not work well, so we had to find a secure place in the US which was easily accessed and that we could have everything forwarded to. Dave does a fantastic job of keeping all of our mail and boxes together until we are able to pick them up. The Mailbag is a quick 10-minute ride from the FLL airport and is located in the beautiful Las Olas area. Nearby are some of the best restaurants and shopping in Fort Lauderdale. I sent something 2 day shipping and it was received 2 weeks later. I run a home office and this error cost me $600. I sent glasses back to Amazon which were never received. This cost me $200. Do not use this company if running a home office or sending things of value. When you walk in you'll notice boxes every where. This should've been a red flag. read more

What a joke. I go in with an open envelope with an Amazon return inside. He prints the 2 part label, one of which needs to go into the envelope, the other an address label. I also was purchasing a water. He charges almost $4 and I asked why so much. He tells me in part for "packing" my envelope! This included pulling off the glue strip to seal the envelope, such hard work! Then he said ok, $3. I know it's not a huge big deal but if you want customers to come back, customer service is the key. read more

After being a client of the Mailbag for over 5 years, I figure it is time to write a review. I run a home business selling high end collectibles. With that said, David the owner and his wife have handled all my high end and large shipments. In the 5 years i have worked with him, I have NEVER had an issue and my reviews include praise for the quality of the packing. There is nobody I would trust including myself to pack and ship some of these items. I can not say enough positive things about the quality of his work and the fact that he actually cares. He is not a UPS store or FedEx so he offers all options and he is not a youngster so he has experience in packing and enjoys what he does. If you are looking for a shipping store that will pack your items properly and ensure they are delivered within the timeline you want (you must communicate) this is your spot. The few extra dollars people are complaining about is the difference between do it yourself shipping or having a professional who takes his time and has pride in his services. His pricing is inline if not cheaper then a UPS or FedEx store. The Mailbag has been integral in insuring that my online business has been successful and they have earned me a perfect 5 stars for shipping and delivery of the items I sell online. Admittedly, I don't leave reviews a lot for places that I LOVE on Yelp. That's probably not very fair to those places, because they deserve the recognition. But when I leave happy, I'm happy, and it's just that simple -- BUT I do tell my friends, and take photos / post messages on social media about the experience. Only when I feel like the service is absolutely deplorable do I feel the need to warn others. And...that's why I'm writing here. I've been to this place a lot to mail packages, drop off UPS pre-paid packages, and so on. I live in the neighborhood, and it's a convenient UPS drop off spot. Plus, on Saturdays, it's convenient to have a location open and available. Every. Single. Time. I walk into this place, I feel like I'm disrupting THEM. An "Old Florida" little mom and pop shop that has a sign that reads something like "We charge extra for customers with an attitude" Well, if that doesn't spell hospitality. The irony is, the owner and the guy who operate this business are so exceptionally rude it defies description. I really can't get over how these men operate. And the positive reviews have got to be by "old buddies" they've known forever. They couldn't give a s%&* about you, your questions, or your packages. Ok, so not everyone has a charming personality. So let's get to the $$. Get this. Saturday, USPS (right next door by the way -- GO THERE -- Sue is charming and wonderful and helpful and patient) is closed. C'est la vie. I needed to send out a package to be overnighted. I also used to own and operate a full time internet business (and still do, to a lesser extent) so I'm not a shipping novice. I had looked at the cost for USPS FLAT fee before walking in the door of "The Mailbag." The owner charged me $12 dollars more than USPS. Well, I'm sure he knows USPS was closed. And I'm sure he was taking advantage of the fact that I couldn't just run next door. When I said "Hmm, that's a lot higher than the overnight price listed on USPS website" he barked back "We're an independent business and need to make money." Take a look around the store, there are NO prices anywhere. No FLAT rates, nothing. Because they're charging on a case by case scenario. So, if that's what you're into, then by all means. But I now drive 2 miles out of my way to go to the UPS store to drop off UPS pre-paid packages and go to USPS for all my basic mail needs. I don't have bad customer service / blatant scamming and price gouging experiences often, if ever -- and I'm sorry to all the wonderful businesses I don't take the time to acknowledge for their awesomeness -- BUT rest assured, when I see businesses operating like this one -- I think the people have a right to know. read more

I have used the Mailbag for several years and the are excellent. Yes Dave is a type A persoanllty, isn't that great!? I know I can always count on him to get the job done! When I leave I feel confident my packages will get shipped out right that day! If you want Post Office prices, go to the Post Office, they will not package your goods or provide additional services. That is what you pay for when you pay a little more at any mailing place, but it is well worth it. I would highly recommend this business. read more

I agree with Chere. Dave is very a intimidating person with a Type A personality. He kind of reminds me of the "Soup Nazi" from the tv show Seinfeld. He also marks up packages a lot. I saw this 80 year old guy come in with a small envelop. Dave pulled up the cost on the computer which shows UPS, UPSP and Fed Ex pricing. The cheapest was around $3.00. He told the guy to give him $20. The poor old guy did. He marked me up each time until I went next door to the post office and it was a lot cheaper. They said Dave went nuts at the Post Office employees before. Hope this helps everyone! read more

Very rude customer service by Dave. He treats his customers like garbage. The other gentleman who works here is much friendlier. Dave made me carry my package, which weighed about 30lbs to the other side of the store after he weighed it. I thought this was his job, not mine. He reluctantly printed out the confirmation receipt, and when I asked him: "I'm making you do extra work?", he replied " Well I'm helping this guy and you..." Sorry dude. We used The Mailbag to pack 31 boxes of various items which were shipped to two different households. The first boxes were received with as many broken pieces as whole ones. There was NO bubble wrap around any of the items which we found astonishing. When we called regarding the broken items Dave basically called us liars regarding the lack of bubble wrap. After a couple weeks we were given a settlement on that shipment, but we still had to deal with the boxes which went to the other household. When we arrived there a month after the items shipped we were again met with broken items. This time there were less broken items, but the items broken were much more expensive. I was told each broken item needed to be shipped back in the original box, this was a total of 27 boxes which had been unpacked prior to our arriving, so there was no way to know which box belonged to which item. After many emails one box was picked up by UPS with all the broken items, but Dave at The Mailbag said there is nothing he can do because it's been over 30 days and we don't have the original boxes or the receipts. Mind you, most of these were wedding gifts or pieces handed down to which we have no receipts. Now we are being told that there is nothing that can be done other than to claim these broken items under our homeowner's insurance!! The worst part of this entire nightmare has been dealing with Dave who seems to have ZERO pride in his business. I cannot understand how a company whose only service is to pack items well can so horribly fail and Dave's rudeness from start to finish has been astonishing. Not a single apology, just excuse after accusation after excuse. If you value your items STAY AWAY from this business! read more

As far as holding the mail, forwarding and providing it to us when we needed the service, The Mailbag did ALRIGHT. As far as dishing out abuse, poor customer service, biting comments and just plain rude attitude, this guy deserves 5 stars! I cannot believe he is still in business. I was convinced by my fiancee who used him in the past to forward mail so I willingly went against my gut when we walked in the first time. Dave, the owner and main operator greeted us with this terrible demeanor. While away, yes, they did hold our mail, but threw away what were magazines with subscriptions, I think he uses some sort of personal decision making skills, he wants to throw it away, he does! Upon out return he did provide out mail but with a rude reminder everytime, about cancelling our forward, which I had already done at the post office. Again, I show up to pick up and remaining mail, and again, rude and biting Dave, with his "friendly" reminder...not. Finally, my fiancee went in there to see if there were any pieces of mail left, and Dave told him he was "sick of it," and sent all the mail back. Dave knows as a client, I go in there to see if there is any remaining mail, and chose to send it back to who knows who...thanks Dave. read more

I want to remain anonymous but I don't appreciate not being told that you are not USPS and that they are merely 4 doors down the street. I repeatedly asked, "Are you sure $12 is right?" because I have shipped the same size package to around the same zip code before. Instead of downright saying the USPS store is down the street I was told, "Yes, and the best I can do for you is $10." I had to be the one that was insistant and finally figured out to instead ask, "What is your address and is there another USPS store on this block?" The response was, "There is another store a couple doors down but they charge (quote) the same price as us." I left. I felt like I was wasting his time but he was wasting mine also by not stating the obvious after I repeatedly asked about the price and if that was for USPS Priority mail. I don't appreciate being "passively aggressively lied to", and the only reason I thought they were USPS was because they had a flag in front of their store, a major landmark of most USPS stores. Guess I should have known but wish he would have just downright told me. USPS charged me $7 for the very same package. read more
