For the price I paid I could've gotten a better deal the chicken definitely needed to be seasoned I used the bbq sauce to compensate for the lack of seasoning. So with the stay at home order in place I finally got tired of cooking/eating home cooked meals and was totally craving some fried chicken! So the first place I called was US fried chicken and other the 8 piece for my family. We pulled up and to restaurant and I knew what to expect as I've been to this little place before but the great food is why I keep coming back. We got home and we ALL enjoyed the fresh, hot, crunchy fried chicken! Even my toddler boys got in on the chicken and they can be a little picky. The N. Tryon location has the best food out of all the locations with amazing desserts! My favorite desserts are the red velvet cake and mini sweet potato pie. The cashier is rude, and got my good order wrong. When I tried to let him know he was rude and dismissive. He started "elevating" his voice so I didn't want a big issue with someone serving me food so I decided to take the "L" on it that day. I can't lie this place is an eye sore but the fried chicken wings are always so so so good. This place does friend chicken wings right at a good price. The wings are fried whole and are really good. It's worth a visit forsure. I like mine extra crispy and the flavor is homemade with good batter/skin. I would definitely check this place out if you like old school friend chicken wings. There are no frills to this place. It is straight forward counter, tables and full glass windows. It is attached to a hotel and the area seems a little sketchy ( I wouldn't go after dark). I usually order the gyro combo and it's nothing special, but it is made to order. The pepperoni pizza (when they have it) is decent. I don't get the chicken. I get the feeling that US Fried Chicken hasn't been open long at this location. The wife and I stopped in today for some fried chicken take-out. This will be a quick review and will go more in depth when we have tried a few other menu items. The atmosphere: Clean, new, fresh not a lot of silly decorations. The place was devoid of patrons except for me and 2 girls getting a chicken plate each. The service: Competent, counter man smiled and was eager to please. The food: Chicken was very good. Hot and crisp with a slightly spicy, crispy salty crust and hot moist meat inside. Onion rings were beer battered and crisp. Potatoes and gravy were OK but neither tasted homemade. Same for the slaw, I have tasted this supermarket type brand before. They were out of fried okra. The menu was extensive with lots of options. From what I understand, they close at 10pm. I'm sitting in my car as we speak writing thus review at 9:19pm. When i pulled in, through the glass window I see several men standing around eating and talking and a little child playing. One of them looks at me as I get out of my car and head towards the door and turns off the lights!!! Meanwhile, the open signs are still on and blinking lol. Cant help but to laugh. Great food, cannot deny that. The issue is their customer service. It's completely lacking. I've been in there a couple of times and can tell they really don't care about how they treat the customers. One time I ordered a chicken philly (I don't eat beef) and they made a regular philly instead. Informed the cashier that my order was incorrect. He said he'd fix it, turns around to tell the cook to remake it (which I later found out was also the owner of the establishment), the cook then says "who's going to pay for the philly I made then?". He basically wanted me to pay for the incorrect philly and the chicken philly that I actually ordered. So unprofessional. Luckily the food always comes out fresh and hot. This place is all bad from the neighborhood to the service to the food which is greasy and not that great the cleanliness of the eatery is not impressive either the restrooms are disgusting and the floor is covered in a layer of grease which makes walking a challenge. In my opinion, this place has the best Chicken in the city hands down. Ive always been a fan of KFC. Have had Bojangles, Popeyes, Chicken Coop, Chicken Box, Chicken King, none of them compare to this chicken! Its always nice and crispy with great flavor in every bite.
