Now one doesn't come here for the ambience or possibly even 5 star service (they were slow getting the food to us) but maybe for that feeling of nostalgia! Its small; you place order first and hope you can find a seat; your food arrives in plastic plates with plastic cutlery and the place could use a lil TLC but there's an argument about that being part of the nostalgia LOL HERES THE BAD - use the bathroom before you come! It's literally the size of a small coat closet - I'm not tall and my knees almost touched the wall and it's a real eyesore - here's the kicker the sink to wash your hands is in the hallway between the ladies room n gents!!!!!!! It's a great hole in the wall located in Charlotte, NC. I was working nearly and was looking for local places to check out. Google recommended this business, and it had great reviews . Upon entry, the staff was very polite and took our order as we got in. You order that the counter and then find a seat. I ordered the French toast with scramble eggs and bacon and pink lemonade. There were a lot of local people sitting having lunch, and the area was quiet. The wall art was amazing and made you see charlotte from a different perspective Food took about 10 to 15 minutes to be ready. I was so excited to try their French toast however it's was a disappointment. It was burnt and bitter and had no flavor to it. I ended up asking for a side of toast and used it to make an egg and bacon sandwich, which was pretty good. Even though I was disappointed with my French toast , my coworkers seemed to enjoy their meals. I tried their steak and cheese sub, and it was delicious If you are ever looking for a hole in the wall, check this place out and try something other than the French toast. 630 could be sneakers. Chucks has the absolutely most reasonable pricing for breakfast that I have seen in Charlotte. I got the breakfast special that had two eggs, grits, biscuit, and sausage and it was only 7.75! A literal steal. The quality of the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I devoured it sooo fast. When you walk in you get a very warm greeting from the staff and they take your order quickly. There isn't a lot of seating inside so it's best to come with a small group if looking to dine in. There is ample parking on site. This is a true local IYKYK spot. Definitely will be back. read more

I just happened to come across this spot randomly, and I'm glad I did. If you want a good and simple southern breakfast, this is the spot for you. I got grits, eggs, liver mush, hashbrowns and a biscuit. The food is made fresh to order, so it comes out hot. I think the biscuit was the best part of the meal, though. It was soft and fluffy and delicious! The hashbrowns didn't have any seasoning on them, so I likely wouldn't revisit this dish, but with a little ketchup they were still good. The restaurant is super small, so you may end up having to take it to go, or having to eat with a stranger. Either way, you're gonna enjoy it. The service is super friendly and they try to get your food out to you fast. They have a lunch menu, and what looks like many different specials throughout the week, so I would definitely recommend giving this one a try! read more

Small diner type restaurant, seems family owned. I went mid-day and there were a lot of people seated in booths. I ordered salmon patties and the stewed beef with sides. The food was good and prices were amazing, I paid about $20. I the grits and eggs were the best things I had. I ordered to go and waited inside. Worth every penny. You will not find a better value anywhere in Charlotte. Breakfast for 3 was $36 and that included a $6 tip. The food is delicious. I just order omelets because what's better? This 5 stars is every bit as much about the staff, vibe of the place, etc. as it is about the food, probably more so about the vibe, actually. Chuck's is another in a line of long bookmarked but not yet visited joints that I finally got to for a meal. The meal itself was a bacon cheeseburger and fries and it was solid and served quickly after ordering even during the lunch rush. They also have a board of daily specials and you order it all going through the line. I'm really looking forward to one of the specials on my next visit. The vibe and staff though.... Wow and really the staff is the biggest part of the goodness that is Chuck's. They are friendly and accommodating and kind and welcoming and every other word you can look up in a Thesaurus to match those words. So what you say. Isn't that what restaurants are supposed to do? Absolutely, yes. What really struck me at Chuck's though was this feeling that they were a microcosm of what America should be in that regard. From what I experienced, Chuck's brings in a melting pot of people. Black, White, Hispanic, white collar, blue collar, men, women, old, young, etc. and every single person got a genuine dose of that friendly, accommodating, kind and welcoming from the staff. What I heard back from many of the customers was the same thing. Lot's of so great to see you to the staff as folks walked in and thank you, see you again soon's, etc. as folks walked out. It is clear that this place is all those lovely, welcoming things to all people every day they are open and that the diners respond accordingly. Thanks for the role modeling Chuck's. it's kinda small, it's kinda seedy, it's a on my way to work and if I'm making good time after skipping breakfast I may just stop in and grab a sammich or a little something. probably not the best choice nutritionally but if everything goes right it won't matter... I wasn't at all certain this place was even a business for a few months since it closes shortly after lunch and I go past an empty lot on the way home, but it is open way early for all y'all folks up at the crossing of the 5 o'clocks. Hole in Wall in Need of a few upgrades but a Good Value My wife and I went to Chuck's for Brunch two weeks ago for Saturday Brunch. Calling it a Bruch is a misnomer since with the exception of burgers and a few fast food grill items, it's just a Breakfast menu. We got there around 12 and they close at 1 pm so they were out of a couple of breakfast special items. My wife is not a breakfast person so she order Salmon Patties and a side of fruit. I ordered a ribeye, medium rare, eggs cooked well, hashbrowns and toast. The reason for order the ribeye medium rare is because it's always overcooked and I was hoping for something around a medium. Nope - well done again. To compensate, the eggs cooked well were runny. At least the hashbrowns and toast were excellent. The room is one of those places where they try and shoe horn more people and tables than the room can comfortably accomodate. Went to the rest room to wash my hands and had to walk a maze around people, tables and chairs to get there and event then, I had to ask some patrons to move just to get through. The restrooms need a bit of an upgrade, at least in lighting. There is one common sink for both the men's and women's bathroom located outside the restrooms in between the entrance to the two. As far as service, this was the high point. Our server could not have been better. She was there when we needed her and not there when we did not not need her. Could not have been better. Prices are very reasonable and for that reason, it's a good value. Before we left,we looked at the full menu and specials for the rest of the week. Much more expansive with a lot of other options on the menu, particulary of what we call comfort food. Maybe Saturday Brunch is too limited. My wife did make the comment that we should try it some other time during the week to explore those other options. read more

Disappointing for me. I might return for lunch one day but I would not visit for breakfast again. The place is in descript. I get that and that doesn't bother me. It is a small place with crowded seating, a coffee area that could use a good cleaning and just not the cleanest looking place. I ordered an omelet with hash browns. And it was just okay. Hash browns are frozen variety. My omelet came with cheese and instead of putting it on the inside of the cheese, all they did is put the sliced processed cheese on the bottom of my container and then put the omelet on top of it and let the heat melt the cheese. This is definitely not the business. My omelet was overcooked, lots of brown on it and it did have plenty of filling but I rather just drive a mile or so away and go to favorite spot. read more
