My water heater kept giving error code of blockage, and I had to reset it every other day. The tech Anthony recommended descaling. I was charged close to $900 for diagnosing the water heater and descaling it. It only took him 5 min to set up the descaling, the rest of the time was just waiting for the heater to flush itself. My water heater gave the same error code the same night. I called Plumbing Express again. Another tech came, he said he couldn't find anything wrong, he said maybe due to strong wind. He just hit the reset button, which I knew to do it myself. I called Plumbing Express again. This time they didn't come, and gave me $2,000 quote to repair the piping and all that. I debated for a long time between repairing and replacing the whole system (my system was only 5 years old). I decided to call another plumbing company for second opinion. They came and found the inlet water filter being extremely dirty and blocked. They cleaned it, and now my water heater is working like new again, and the new plumbing company charged me less than $100. Cleaning the filter was supposed to be part of the annual maintenance descaling that I paid Plumbing Express to do, which they obviously didn't do and I paid $900 for. They even mis-diagnosed and wanted me to fix the whole plumbing system for $2-3k. It is insane! Another issue was during the first appointment of fixing my water heater, I also asked Anthony to look at my shower faucet because it didn't control temperature very well. It was working fine besides the temperature part. He unassembled it to look inside. He said the cartridge needs to be replaced. He had to look for it and would call me back. Anthony put the shower faucet back. The same day when I used the shower, I turned the faucet and it fell off. It was very obvious that Anthony assembled it incorrectly. He came back and couldn't put it back because the parts inside broke already. He said he would call me back about replacement quote. Never called me back. I had to call office multiple times. After that, they said the faucet is too old, there is no replacement part, I would have to replace my entire master shower system. Not only Plumbing Express didn't fix my shower faucet, they completely broke it. They turned a simple problem into something they would cost me tens of thousands of dollars to fix. Now I'm still living with my faucet broken off and still trying to figure out a way to fix it without breaking my bank.

When we replaced it, the new one was placed directly on the basement floor with no pan or anything around it or under it. Our basement has never flooded before (in 25 years) but it looks like some water may have come in near the new water heater. It seems like it should have been raised off the ground at least a couple of inches when it was installed or had a pan of some sort to protect the bottom of the water heater. But I'm not an expert on water heater installation so what do I know? Hunter got the water out with paper towels and relit the pilot light. Hooray! Hunter saved the day. I think he may have changed the setting back down to its lowest because we are running out of hot water very quickly when showering. Hopefully that's all that has been done. I want to start off by saying that I did read the reviews and I was hesitant but I didn't have much choice. Pronto plumbing assigned Joe to me as the technician. When Joe arrived I told him my issue (extremely high water bills, no evidence of leaks in the home) and Joe conducted a detailed assessment of my bathrooms, kitchen, water heater etc. He agreed that there were no visible leaks and the next steps in regards to having a leak detection completed. He explained that my home warranty usually covers the cost of leak detection but not the foundation repairs etc. He advised me to talk to the County/Water department first to have them do another meter test before I move forward with any other plumbing. All in all, Joe was detailed, transparent and I felt that he was honest. He did not seem to have gotten the message that this was to fix an earlier plumber's work and said I would have to pay, though the people at Roto-Rooter had told me that I would not have to pay a second time. On 2/10, a technician named Tyrone came out to check a leak under our kitchen wooden floorboards, in front of the dishwasher. There was no visible water, but about a 5 ft x 5 ft section of the floor had started to cup and swell. I do appreciate that Roto-Rooter was able to schedule a same-day appointment. Unfortunately, the service itself was very poor. I was at work, and my mom was home during the visit. Tyrone pulled out the dishwasher and claimed he found the leak, but he never actually showed my mom where it was or clearly explained what he found. Instead of focusing on identifying and fixing the source of the leak, he repeatedly insisted that the entire kitchen flooring needed to be replaced. He also said that to match the kitchen floors, the connected hallway flooring would need to be replaced as well. On top of that, he claimed the basement ceiling under the kitchen had water damage and would need to be replaced, even though there was no visible damage. His estimates were shocking: $300 to replace the leaking pipe, $7,000-$13,000 for water mitigation and mold inspection, and approximately $20,000 to replace the kitchen and hallway floors. He strongly suggested that the full floor replacement would be "free" because he would write up a report and insurance would cover it, and we would only need to pay $300 out of pocket for the pipe repair. My mom called me very worried, so I asked him to explain everything to me over the phone. I repeatedly asked whether he had clearly identified and confirmed the source of the leak. He avoided directly answering and continued focusing on replacing the floors. When I asked whether filing an insurance claim could increase our premium, he hesitated and said no. He also kept encouraging my mom to sign documents before leaving. We decided to have a second opinion, and had another licensed plumber come. He clearly showed us the actual source of the leak. It was not under the dishwasher as claimed by Tyrone. It was simply a loose connection on the water line that was slowly dripping and pooling a small amount of water under the floor. The plumber tightened the connection in about 10 minutes and did not charge us anything. There was no major pipe failure. There was no need for $7,000-$20,000 in work. There was no basement ceiling damage. I am extremely disappointed by how this situation was handled. What we experienced felt like unnecessary upselling and recommendations for extensive repairs that were not supported by the actual condition of the issue. It is very concerning that a homeowner could be led to believe such significant work was required without clear evidence. Please be cautious before hiring this company. Our experience left us feeling misinformed and very uneasy about the recommendations that were made.
