I'm in shambles, folks. I had high hopes for Sparrow Moving after seeing their ads and slick marketing. But oh boy, what a nightmare it turned out to be. Most moving companies give you a quick quote and move on. I spoke to 15 companies yesterday, so I didn't have time for another marathon session. But Sparrow? They wanted to know every single item I was moving. When I mentioned my large dresser and couch, they asked for pictures. Who has time for a photo shoot when you're trying to pack up your life? My expectations started plummeting faster than my Wi-Fi during a storm. What should have been a simple quote turned into a quest for the perfect quote. And when I finally got the amount, it was nearly $30 higher than my highest quote from yesterday. When I pointed out that this wasn't a luxury move and budget matters, they hit me with, "Quality is what you're paying for." Yeah, right. If that's the case, how about some quality customer service from the start? I was literally shocked when I told them their quote was $30 over the highest I'd gotten, and they didn't even flinch or ask any follow-up questions. Overall, I'm sad it didn't work out, but hey, everything happens for a reason, right? Update: Opinions are like a$$holes--everyone's got one, and we're all entitled to ours. I hate writing negative reviews, but this one has to be written. We used Sparrow Moving for our recent Los Angeles move and the results were AWFUL. First off, they broke our couch leg and didn't say anything... we didn't realize it until we sat on it later that night and the leg practically snapped off. To make matters worse, once we finally turned our TV on, we realized they had broken that as well (see attached photo). Things get broken in moves, and as much as I hate that it happened, I understand it's a possibility. Where I get REALLY upset is their lack accountability to remedy the situation. When we complained about the TV, they sent us a picture of the TV up & working at our OLD HOUSE (!!!) to use as proof that it was working when they moved it. Terrible business practice and just an outright lie!! And as for the couch, they said that because we signed a document upon completion of the move, they weren't liable for that at all. They were rushing out of the house, and wouldn't let me test out every piece of furniture before leaving (for obvious reasons now). It hurts because we tipped the movers $200 on top of the $1600 we paid for the move... and they did about $2000 worth of damage to our household items. They offered us $100 to remedy the situation, which doesn't even cover the TIP, not to mention the price of the 75-inch TV or the couch. When my wife & I responded saying that was unacceptable and trying to have a reasonable compromise, they stopped responding and have blocked all of our calls moving forward. We are now considering taking them to small claims court. This experience with Sparrow Moving has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know (or who reads this). read more

I found Sparrow Moving on IG and scheduled an appointment for a local move across town after seeing their positive google reviews. The person on the phone sounded very nice and reassured me the move would be painless as this was my first time using movers. Let me preface that I am very impatient and I was a little worried after seeing Sparrow Moving's negative yelp reviews which I discovered after I put down the deposit. On the day of, I was provided a timeframe of 2-5PM for their arrival. It was 4PM with no update so I called their line, I was told that they were going to be a little late but they were arriving at 5:30PM. At 5:30PM the 2 movers arrived and I was around to help supervise them. I mainly was in the living room area and helped answer any questions they had. I prepacked a majority of my items so I expected them to be done within a certain timeframe. They were compliant in not moving item's that I told them not to. They were very efficient in clearing out my room and dissembled my bedframe and monitors on my working desk which was the key reason why I booked their services. At my new apartment, they were also very quick and efficient. They reassembled my key items and put them exactly where I needed them to. If I needed something to go in the storage room of my patio, they did it with no qualms. They really did help me feel really at ease with the move and although conversation was minimal, I felt comfortable to be in their presence. They are definitely experienced and I can tell they have helped move plenty of people. Their prices are very reasonable and they finished a little earlier than what I anticipated so that's an A+ in my book. However, the only reason that I am not giving a perfect 5 stars is because I had to reach out for an updated ETA and I was kind of worried. Again, this is on my end as I am impatient but I feel that a heads up on their end would've been nice. Overall, I highly recommend their services and to not be turned off by the negative reviews. We gave them a shot and highly regretted it. We're not "one" star folks but we feel our experience needs to be shared. My wife and I were moving to a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment about ten minutes east of our old apartment. We were looking for affordable movers and did our due diligence. We spoke with some very competent movers but ended up going with Sparrow Moving because they promised all the services the others did at a much more competitive rate. This was our first mistake. I want to be fair to the movers that showed up. They worked hard but they were clearly overwhelmed by the job and not professional movers. We had even spent the weekend leading up to the move moving 90% of our boxes into the new apartment so all that was left was the larger pieces of furniture and the other boxes we couldn't get to. Here is a list of issues: - The company said they would wrap and pad ALL the furniture. The movers did not, and some of our furniture was damaged in the move. (Pics attached) - We suggested an order to pack the truck and make unpacking at the new apartment more efficient. They didn't follow our instructions. - We were told by the company that we could leave our stuff in the drawers of desks and dressers. That the movers wouldn't have a problem moving them with stuff inside. The movers told us the day of they weren't moving anything with stuff in the drawers and told me to move it myself. So we wasted time clearing out drawers that, if we had been told were an issue, we would have packed earlier. - We paid for an extra service to have them uninstall our TV mount and then reinstall it at the new place. They said this was never agreed to and when I called the company they said they had told them. They uninstalled the mount (damaging it in the process, pics attached) but when we got to the new apartment said they lacked the tools to install it there. - They also said they lacked the tools to take apart and reassemble the bed, which is another service they said they would provide. They did it, but only after we insisted and lended them our own tools. - English was not their first language and communication was difficult. They kept saying they did not understand which pieces I asked them to pack, and then when I told them which ones they seemed to ignore it. When I pointed out I wanted the piece packed they would say I told them I didn't. For instance, I told them to pack our dining room table hours into the move the table remained unpacked. When I asked the movers about it, they said I told them not to pack the table, which I clearly did. We wasted ALOT of time doing this. - A real unprofessional moment was when they tried to move our couch into our new apartment but lacked the skill or knowhow, they just shoved it through the door scratching up the walls (picture attached) and when they could not get it through, they said it couldn't be done and they wanted to leave it in the hallway of our new building. We insisted they take it back to our old place, and we had to leave it in our garage until we hired professional movers the next day who were able to do the job in 30 minutes without any problem. Overall, they just were not prepared for this move and told us that we had too much stuff. They arrived at 2pm and did not finish the job until midnight leaving a scatter of boxes and furniture all over as opposed to listening to my wife or myself on where we wanted things place. At the end of the night, they insisted that we pay them overtime and that we signed a contract for that. The only contract I signed was to guarantee a certain rate for hours worked and they were pushy but I showed them the contract. It was clear they were more frustrated with their company than with us and that there was a lot of miscommunication about what was expected for this move. I paid in cash and gave them a decent tip, though they weren't the professional movers the company claimed they were, they worked hard the whole time but they were not prepared for the job. The company called me the next day to discuss the overtime pay issue, and when I told them my experience with the move, they apologized and said they would call back. They never did, so I assume that's the end of it. All in all, the savings I made going with Sparrow Movers ended up costing me the same price it would have cost to hire other professional movers to do the job well once. Not to mention the scratched wall in our new apartment, the damaged furniture and TV mount, and the issues we had with our new building because the move took so long. They made what is already a stressful experience more so. My wife is a professional interior designer and deals with movers for her job, and she was shocked at the poor quality of their work and how long it took. The moral? Pay for professional movers. My assigned movers were Russian and they were amazing; the main guy's name was Daniel (Danil) and they were very professional and friendly. Their service was excellent and they wrapped all pieces of furniture and handled them with care. They dissembled and reassembled all furniture (sofas, bed, tv, etc), and never once damaged anything. They were very communicative and when they weren't clear on something, they would ask for guidance. They treated my valuables with care. I requested a quote and made a reservation three weeks before my move. They arrived on time as agreed and there were no extra charges of any kind; they also honored the quote/rate I had been provided weeks prior. The value of this service gave me piece of mind and helped me so much feel less stressed and overwhelmed, not to mention this scheduled move took place during an unexpected heatwave of 3-digit temperatures. I recently used Sparrow Moving to help me relocate to my new home, and I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. and firstly there are hidden fees. after they came they wanted $100 cash more as I had 19 steps b my house and apparent a 2 story should only have 17! First, the movers arrived an hour late, which was frustrating. Their equipment was old and dirty, and they left marks on my carpet because they did not remove their shoes or take any precautions to protect my home. As a result, I had to hire a professional cleaning service to address the damage. Additionally, the movers did not take adequate care of my belongings or my property. They caused damage by pushing a desk through the doorway, leaving marks on the window sill. My $12,000 dining table was also damaged, along with my outdoor tiles, which now need to be replaced. After the move, I reached out to the receptionist to discuss these issues, but my concerns were ignored. I had to keep calling until I was told, "too bad," and then I was blocked from further communication. The lack of professionalism and care exhibited by Sparrow Moving is unacceptable. I typically don't write reviews, but I am now being ignored by this company and feel compelled to warn others about my experience. Before I signed a contract, I was promised that the crew would provide all moving boxes and packing materials the day of, this was not true and cost me close to $100 on the day of to get boxes and materials urgently and then pack frantically once they arrived. I was also told they would remount my TVs for a small fee, which was a huge selling point and when they came to the house, the crew said they were never told they needed to do that and didn't have the equipment, so they left. After they left, we quickly realized that they had broken the legs to our couch making it unusable AND cracked our 75in flatscreen TV, as well. In reporting this to the company, I still have not heard a resolution and now they are not answering my calls. I am so astounded and now am THOUSANDS of dollars in the can to replace my couch, my TV and pay someone else to come mount my TVs, plus having to pay for the moving materials I wasn't anticipating having to purchase. I can't remember how I found Sparrow moving but I'm glad I did. When I reached out for a quote our move date was up in the air but I was given an hourly rate and they still honored that rate 2 months later. I was skeptical about booking, one because the quote was low and horror stories of movers not showing up. But we booked and crossed our fingers all would go smoothly and it did! Booking was easy and they answered all my questions, I made sure there were no hidden fees that we would be hit with the day of. Day of the move the movers text me when they were on their way an hour before they came over. It was a two man team and they got started right away, they wrapped what needed to be wrapped and took good care of our belongings. My assigned movers, packers, and shakers were Richard and Anthony. They completed 10 long grueling hours of hard work to help us get from from LA to OC. Although I am probably bigger and stronger than both guys combined, I was no match for their team work and efforts carrying the bigger items (no appliances). They actually got down on their hands and knees to help us pack all of our miscellaneous items the day of. I appreciate their abilities to take criticism well and their customer service could have been better. All together I would recommend what they recommended 1) do your research to find best company for price and personnel 2) pack as much as possible as you can before moving day 3) determine best situation for you is it a 2 person job v. 3 person v. 4 person job. It could really help you save time before the winter night comes. Than they arrived 3 hours late and moved slow so that they could get more pay than to add insult to injury they asked me for a tip When I didn't get all of my things moved. Welp - I realized I was too busy with the move to take all the pictures but this was my room they had to pack morning of and then the wrap job for fragile items like TV. Since this was my first move from apartment to home - wasn't sure how to estimate the job - but Mike was very easy to work with throughout the whole process. WARNING: This company is a fraud!!! Where do I start?!? When they were expecting a poor Yelp review they changed the name of their company. But all of their contact information, photos, websites are still for SPARROW MOVING COMPANY. What a joke!!! Poor communication, terrible customer service, and in need staff training. I encountered a similar experience as a person of S.P. had 8 months ago (read their review as well). And based on all of Sparrow Moving's reviews, if someone provides them constructive criticism, the owner Mike responds defensively and accuses them of lying. So my complaint starts with their receptionist (person who answers their phone) took my reservation and said if I make my reservation early I can book at a discounted rate. I asked what "early" meant and she didn't know how to respond. I then told her I'd call her back the next day proceed with my booking after I discussed the rate with the rest of the household. I called the next day (Friday, March 31st) and proceeded with my reservation. She asked me for my cc information but didn't provide me any details, receipt, cancellation disclosures, etc until I had requested it. Then she said she'd send me a confirmation link, it came through and it directed me to a weird site. Then I had to ask for it to be resent. I noticed the "from" email address was in a weird format. 3 hours later I received a call from the same receptionist asking if I'd like to proceed with my reservation with the quote I was given the day before. I appreciated the follow up but the had to point out to her that I thought I had just booked them a few hours earlier?!? She didn't realize I was the same person (although all my information and details that were provided were the same). All of this just started to make me feel uneasy and not confident in the competence of the company so I started shopping around. After finding another company with the same rates (and after doing a more thorough research on reviews of the companies) I reached back out to Sparrow Moving to cancel. And although I never completed my confirmation link they sent me, they told me my deposit was non-refundable because of the short notice. Cancelling within 5 hours of when I made a reservation and more than 3 weeks out of my actual moving date is short notice?!?!? They tried to offer me a $50 discount off of my services.... REALLY??? I'd rather forfeit my $100 deposit than work with a company that calls their customers liars! I have attached all of my email communication to confirm my experience! This was a nightmare from start to finish. I couldn't recommend them to anyone. First my quote was about $500 less than what they charged me at the end. The window for them to show up was 2-5pm and they showed up at 6:45. They struggled with basic items. Was told the fridge would not be considered an over size item but they did charge me for it as well as a mattress they refused to leave downstairs as requested. Over all for a two bedroom apartment they took 5 hours total with 3 men which I find to be excessive. After buying my first hourse, I was a bit overwhelmed trying to find movers to get all my stuff from my apartment to the house. Thankfully, I got a targeted ad on instagram for Sparrow moving. The entire process was quick and simple, I filled out their form with how many rooms I was moving, how far, and date and was able to have something scheduled for the following weekend. The movers arrived very promptly the day of my move and worked quickly to wrap up my things, get them loaded onto the truck, and delivered to my new house. The best moving company ever!!! Pricing is straight forward and transparent. NO hidden fees. Making the appointment was super easy and Mike sent a confirmation email with the details. I had question while packing during the week of our move and Mike responded promptly. We moved our 4 bedroom house along with garage gym equipment and everything went smoothly. We hired their 3 person team. Our foreman Dan is really awesome! It was 110 degrees during the heatwave and they still move pretty quick and very efficient. Our entire move was completed in less time than what I originally anticipated. All of our furnitures and TVs arrived at our new house in the same conditions it left our old house. Advertised pricing is for cash payment. There is a 10% surcharge for credit card but they disclose this in the beginning when completing the booking.
