TL;DR - decent priced - quick but not rushed - well done - convenient location I walked into Urban iBrows right after work. I tried to sign in but the screen didn't work for me so they entered it manually. My first impression was that it was clean, well lit, and seemed higher end. I only waited about three minutes until I was served. I did an upper lip wax and brow thread. The lip wax was first and she followed up with threading to get any hairs she missed. Then she threaded the brows. It was a little harsher than other places I've gone but she did not cut me and my brows looked fabulous in the end. She really let me take my time reviewing her work and fixing anything that needed it. Overall it was quick but not rushed. She did good work. This is the ONLY place I go to in chicago that consistently snatches my brows and leaves them literally sharpened. They may rip a layer of skin off but baby, beauty is pain and DAMN these brows are gorgeous. They do a fantastic job every time I come here. The only bad thing are the hours. They are only open from 10-6pm Monday thru Friday. But the service is always spectacular and the end result is great. Nope- not worth it. I've given this place more than a few chances to get it right and it always disappoints. The brow threading can at times be good - but I always leave with either broken skin or ingrown hairs because they don't pull the hair fully out. Today I opted for a lip wax instead of threading and she burned my skin. I felt it the minute she did it and I have no one but myself to blame. It's overpriced and they are not good. I walked in and wasn't greeted or acknowledged. I waited patiently for about 10 minutes until finally one of the two ladies came to the desk. Granted they were with customers, it's a very small place so one of them could have at least looked up and greeted me. I asked for a service menu to take with me but they didn't have any. I just got a hack job on my brows on a Thursday night at 5. Have been there before and it's been so-so, but tonight My face was murdered by a skinny, choppy looking brow threading, delivered after I said "not too thin, just a clean up, and I need a little trim". I will never go there again, even for the convenience of this Loop location. Not all the threaders are equally skilled. I don't think this punk-ish, goth-ish looking person was even paying attention to what she was doing or looking at my face. My advice? Go somewhere else! read more

Since I moved to the 'Burbs I have been in search of a new eyebrow threading salon in the Loop, close to my office. Somewhere I could stop in during lunch time. I almost did not come to Urban iBrows after reading through some of the negative reviews, but I am glad I did! Small shop at Dearborn/Lake. Easy to sign-in. Amira(?) does an awesome job! I have been a repeat customer of this salon for over a year but will not be coming back. The pros of this salon is that it is cheap and conveniently located near my office. The salon is very modern and clean. However, I have had way too many bad experiences here that I will not be returning. The past few visits my eyebrows have been threaded too thin. The technicians here are also very rough on my brows. I have been to many other threaders in the past and this has been the most painful experience I've had. read more

The worst eyebrow wax I have ever gotten before. Do not come here. I had to go back twice in one day to get them fixed. The waxed one side so thin and then the other side none at all. Thanks to Yelp, I found my new eyebrow threading spot that I'll go to during my lunch hour when it's time to clean them up. This is a simple location where it's very easy to walk in and sign in through a touch screen. Came here with a groupon, immediately received attitude from one of the girls working there. She asked me repeatedly if I had been there before which I hadn't. She proceeding to look me up in the system to make sure... I had never even heard of this place until my search in groupon. I felt uncomfortable and probably should have forfeited my Groupon than receive service from someone as rude as her. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded since 15, and I've never felt that much pain. She went rough on my brows and I had to stop her a few times. She also was pulling out hair from my hairline which I pointed out to her and she her response was "well it's connected, it's not my fault." I pointed out my eyebrows stop way before my hair line and to be a bit more gentle. After she finished I felt my eyebrow start bleeding, I left immediately to go ice it at home. I've been going to this location for almost a year. Unfortunately this is the last time I'll be going. I've always thought it was mediocre but I went because it was convenient and close to my work. One of ladies who's friendly always threaded over the same spot over and over until it bled or left a mark. The shape was fine but she always missed some of the hairs. Then recently I started getting another lady that worked there, but never seemee to want to be there and rushed my threading both times. Instead of cleaning them up, she thinned them. One year ago, I had natural thick eyebrows that took years to regrow and now I'm down to stick thin uneven eyebrows. Never again. read more

Finally !!! Inexpensive, quality, and good up to date customer service!!! Came in and let Kayla, thread my eyebrows and she is the real deal! Took my time and shaped my eyebrows I was in and out in a max of 10 minutes and the menu shows they offer a variety of services so I decided to get my lip area waxed too. To cool the inflammation of the procedures down Kayla gave me some ALOE, not the usual alcohol many threading salons offer, that burn your face off. Not to mention, the setting is so modern, clean, and up to date in the loop you wouldn't think those services costed $18 total. Very impressive. read more

I DO NOT recommend anyone here unless you want to be greeted with an attitude and poor customer service. I never got to try the service b/c I was not accommodated for the purchase that I made. Actually I never made it that far b/c of the ignorance of the individual who was supposed to help me being a 1st time client. Therefore I refuse to even try or deal with them at all I rather take my $ elsewhere then to be treated so badly by only making an inquiry. Not only was I treated in a disrespectful manner I was hung up on and directed to the website email that does not work. I had my eyebrows threaded for the first time at Urban iBrows! I had originally scheduled an appointment for an eyebrow wax, since I am used to waxing. Upon consulting with Amira, she suggested to try threading for a cleaner eyebrow. I decided to give it a try and I'm very glad I made the decision to go for it! For the price, I would recommend this place ($10 eyebrow thread). My eyebrows were on par with more expensive places that I've gone to and the mini lotion massage at the end was great. The only reason it got 4 stars was because one of the ladies, presumably the manager, was not too friendly. I expect a nice welcoming and maybe a "How are you?" when I enter a business, but regardless, the service was great. The salon was very clean and nice. I've waited to review this place to see if my eyebrows would grow back and I could be less harsh in the review/rating. Nope, still super thin and annoying. I was recently told by a lady at the MAC Cosmetics store that eyebrows are like sisters not twins. HA, what she meant was that naturally they will rarely look identical. We all know this to be true. We all have that "perfect" eyebrow that we try to emulate by filling in the other one to match it as best as we can. Welp... Elena destroyed that "perfect" eyebrow and thinned it out soooooo badly to match the not so perfect one and I was PISSED. I looked in the mirror, then looked at her, as if to say seriously, you completely jacked this one up. My eyebrow hair is already super faint so shape and definition is key. I didn't get loud or start crying or mouth off. I just genuinely looked disappointed and perplexed as to what in the h*** could be done to make me feel less awful about this quick stop in on the way home from work. Clearly, she knew she messed up because she quickly said she would tint them for free which would help them stand out more and at least appear thicker for a few weeks. I had never had eyebrow tinting before so I said ok because at that point, I felt like I had nothing to lose. My eyebrows did look marginally better but ultimately they are now both super thin and every time I have to fill them in, which should be daily given how awful I think they look (who had time for daily eyebrow fill ins??? Just had my first experience at this location. I was a walk-in for an eye brow wax. There was no type of consultation, however I did express that I like keeping my brows as thick as possible. Well my comment basically went in one ear and out the other. The woman just stated "Okay" and started to wax. This is the best eyebrow threading salon that I have discovered in the city of Chicago. I have had my brows done twice here and have enjoyed my service both times. There's a lady with long, red hair that does my brows. She's super sweet and very professional. Before going here, I had stopped getting my eyebrows done because I'd been butchered before by other salons. She was very attentive to my brows and helped shape them to my desire so that I have a true arch versus the flatten brows that were the result of other salons. When she finally did do my brows, she was done in about 4 minutes. They looked exactly the same as before. I told her she didn't do much and she said my eyebrows are thin. The salon is in a very convenient location and is very clean. I hate to write a bad review but hope that others don't have the same experience I had. I let the eyebrow technician know several times that I was growing my eyebrows out and have been growing them out for several weeks so that she would keep them thick. She kept confirming that she understood but still waxed my eyebrows way too thin. In addition I let her know that I did not want any oil used on my face because I always break out. She insisted on using it and I had to sternly tell her no several times before she put the oil down. I let her know that despite me telling her several times to leave my eyebrows as thick as possible that she waxed them too thin. She never apologized. I hope this review is helpful. read more

I found this through Groupon. I went there for threading. I suggest booking an appointment before, but even then there will likely be a wait because sometimes it's one person doing everything. When they did finally get to me, the service was great! They did a great job with my eyebrows. I love them.
