They confirmed the week before and again the day before. When I arrived I was taken to the dressing room and given a robe and slippers. I went to the quiet room while I waited on my technician. The quiet room was nice, I got champagne while I waited. My tech came right on time and had I thought about it, I would have arrived a little earlier to relax more. The pedicure was nice but quick, an hour, which is standard but the price was $101 before any tips. Just for the pedicure. No other services. Nice spa but too expensive for my tastes. A full day or multiple services would cost over $200. They also had a full selection of skin care items, hats and jewelry.

My friend treated me to a hot rock massage, and boy was it amazing. 75 minutes of pure bliss. I had Gloria, who I highly recommend. She started out by putting the rocks between my toes, which I think set the stage for the perfect massage. This was my first massage and it couldn't have been better. The atmosphere of the place and attitudes of everyone there is appropriate for a spa, they just set the tone for a great experience, and were professional as well. Gloria was very knowledgeable as she asked questions and explained what she would do. She made me feel very comfortable. Then came the hot rocks and oil, sigh... The experience was even better than I imagined, and I felt great leaving there. So relaxed. I felt like she worked out years of stress. I have gone to Urban Day Spa for several occasions and during different times of the year. Each time I have taken advantage of their special monthly deals that are sent to me via email after registering on their website. Their deals are VERY reasonable and make you want to come back for more! Their staff is very attentive to your needs and completely respect your privacy. I love, love, love Urban Day Spa. It's very clean, has soft music, and nice smelling. My massage therapist Byron was the best. He is very professional and didn't talk me to death like some therapist do, but made me feel at ease. You should see him if for a deep tissue massage because he was the best. I have a lot of stress in my neck, shoulders, and back but once Byron worked his magic, I was feeling much better. My wife and I both got a classic facial package with a couples Scape Silhouette Wrap. I left feeling very refreshed. I enjoyed it. I do have one issue. We looked at videos online of what to expect, and they all showed this clients wrapped in thick sheets "down there". As far as I could see/tell, there was the only single person, younger woman, working the afternoon. She was friendly and slight in stature, I was actually a bit worried about the massage I would be getting because of her size. I opted for a 90minute massage, 1 hour body, and 30 minutes foot, which I desperately needed. I needn't have worried about her strength, this woman was STRONG, so strong that I actually found my self wincing in pain from the massage. I finally had to tell her to go a little softer, which she immediately did, but then the phone rang. Interruption # 1. She quickly took care of the phone call and got back to the massage, but the phone rang again, interruption #2. Again she was quick about the call, but then when she returned, I think she forgot I asked her to go softer, because she was back at massaging with brute force, as if I were a football player needing the most intense massage after a game. Interruption # 3 came in the form of someone coming in the front door, I needed to adjust my body, so I didn't mind this one. Each time she stepped away, she was back quickly and immediately started where she left off, I have to admit, I was getting perturbed at the interruptions and told myself if another one happened, I was going to get up and get dressed and just leave. Sure enough, interruption #4, again the door. I thought about somehow voicing my displeasure about the interruptions, but I felt like I was close to the hour mark and let it go. There were 2 more interruptions, totaling 6 interruptions, and there was no adjustment to my time on the table, so I am guessing between the 6 interruptions, I was out at least 6 -7 minutes, but I chalk it up to a learning lesson. I will say, she did a fantastic job on my skull, I think she could have massaged my head for an entire 30 minutes and I wouldn't have minded at all. The foot massage was not what I was expecting either. There was no soaking my feet in hot water for a few minutes like I have experienced at pretty much every other place I have gone for a foot/body massage. She did a decent job on my feet, but I definitely felt my feet got the short end of the deal. Would I go back? Would I recommend? I do not think I will go back, and I will say if you want a really deep strong massage, this is a good place for that, but it's not for me.

So I'm kind of critical when it comes to judging massages. And I just knew it wouldn't live up to my expectations. First off the price in America is just ridiculously high compared to overseas. But isn't everything I ask? An hour combo at $60 buys you 30 minutes foot massage and 30 minutes body massage without moving to a new spot or 30 minutes moving to one of those face down chairs for the body massage (more like neck and shoulder in the chair). Regardless it's almost the same since you are face down either way, the main difference being they would also work on your lower half if you didn't choose the chair. First off let's make no mistake. This a Chinese establishment. Like so many places in Houston. The guy up front is actually from the same Northern province in China as my dad is from. And the workers - all Chinese. The guy working the desk will interpret for them what the customer wants. Like one customer came in and didn't want the legs or arms massaged (focus time on back and shoulder). And I can see why as they spend a whole lot of time on those areas otherwise. I'd probably say the same thing if I were to come back one day. My masseuse was an older lady. The women's hands were unfortunately weak. It was late in the day so maybe that's why. Not much pressure whatsoever. The only time I felt something was when I was face down and she was using her elbow to grind it in my back. It hurt like crazy. A few times I encountered this same thing in Thailand and I always hated it. It is really the lazy man's method for giving a massage. They soak your feet in a bucket of warm water at the start of the massage. And they cover your eyes too with a towel. No music. And it was very quiet (they don't chit chat with each other). The guy at the front was a bit standoffish at first. He seemed to not like me taking photos and asked me why I was doing that. When I explained I'd be writing a review and wanted pics he seemed ok and actually got a whole lot nicer. So we got the $60 massage combo massage. And they went the full time which I know some places (or some visits) don't always do. Credit card usage has a $3 surcharge. My daughter's masseuse was waiting by the front door as we paid upfront which is usually what they do overseas too. I think it's usually to get a tip. But my masseuse was nowhere in sight so I actually had to have someone track her down so I could give her a tip which being in America I felt was the right thing to do. Actually overseas now the Americans have spoiled the Thais to where it's expected there too now. Sad to see a beautiful art polluted like that. We did $10 each on a $60 massage. And they seemed happy with that. I've included some videos of the inside and price chart. We asked for the couples massage 60 min, which is only $120, +$3 If you use a card to pay. That's a great deal to me. And I am pregnant, so I asked if they have someone who is experienced. He called his wife to come from their other location and she arrived within 15 min. And it was just what we needed! While waiting for his wife Lucy, Luke helped put pressure and did some stretches and neck work on my partner, Chinese Tuian. And immediately after my partner felt tremendous relief! I was amazed. Especially bc he thought I could just give him a massage at home to work out the kinks. This Chinese Tuian was like magic with specific pressure points. Then once his wife arrived we began our couples massage. Mine was relaxing as I'm unable to receive too much pressure at 8 months pregnant. One thing I did notice is the massage Lucy did on my face helped clear my sinuses! Now I'm able to breathe well again! My partner's massage therapist used hot stones, and stretched him, did deeper pressure points. And he too has left feeling so much better than when we walked in. We are happy we found this place. Luke told us they have two locations and have been here for 15 years. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Showed me a menu and I picked a 30 min foot massage and 30 min body massage for $40. Mindy is a sweet little lady and tiny. Man oh man can she massage deep. Had to have her ease up on my feet and legs. Then she did the body massage. Same thing here. Had to grin and bear it sometimes. Mindy was very professional and did an awesome job. I'm pregnant, and not everyone knows what they are doing and my husband and mother are tight, so I knew this would be the perfect place to check out! And they did not disappoint! My prenatal massage was perfect! And my husband and mom loved their massages too! They also have an amazing special right now where the 90 min massage for new members is only $110 vs the normal $125. The restrooms were clean. It smells amazing when you walk in and they offer complementary snacks, coffee and water on your way out. I highly recommend! We will most certainly be back!

My wife and I had a very intense Thai and hot stone massage. Clean and quiet environment. No outside noise at all. Very polite and professional communication on the phone and texting to the appointment. Had a two-hour massage and would have extended another hour if they were not so busy. Always an awesome experience when the pressure is hard enough where anymore you would need an ambulance. Much better to have hard pressure than not enough pressure. Highly recommend. The hot Stones were nice. Lots of oil but lots of wiping down with hot towels as well. Highly highly recommend. There are many options in the area and this one did not disappoint. Might even try to come back before we head back to California this weekend.
