They maybe the best upholsterers in the world, but they take their sweet time to answer your mail and they rarely answer the phone. OK. After we set up a date and time for a job (and I had a lot more I wanted done and consult about) no one showed up and no one called. After three desperate calls and one new email, I got a call back, with presumably Paul apologizing that he should not have made an appointment because November 24, Friday, was a holiday. The other date he could offer was a week later. When I expressed consternation that he had not checked his calendar, and mentioned that Friday was not actually a holiday, he got angry and told me I can look for someone else. Never mind that I could have done all my errands if someone had just called to say: can we reschedule. read more

Paul and Nicole are AMAZING. I found them through Yelp reviews and thought I would give them a try. I asked them to slipcover a 3 seat/3back cushion couch. Nicole was incredibly patient with me as I picked different fabrics and then e-mailed her with links so she could see what would work and what wouldn't. Within 2 weeks of having the couch measured, the slipcover was complete and Paul and Nicole came and put it on the couch. It looks AMAZING! Even though it's slipcovered it looks reupholstered. I wanted a tailored look and that's what I got. I've had many pieces reupholstered before but nothing slipcovered. You can be sure I will continue to use Urban Castle Interior Solutions. Paul did an amazing job fitting and constructing a slip cover for my sofa. I have an active toddler in my house and Paul took that into account when recommending the right material. I should really post a photo - the sofa looks great and very fresh. Could you save a lot of money and buy a prefab slip cover? Sure....but your slip cover will slide around, bunch up and look frumpy. You get what you pay for! Does the slip cover Paul did for us look like a reupholster job? No - but pretty close and for a very reasonable cost when you consider the quality of material, and care of fitting and construction. After several months, the slip cover (which we had him scotch guard on account of my child) looks perfect, and has stayed in place exactly the way Paul left it when he dressed our sofa. I'm not exaggerating when I say this slip cover fits like a glove. I'm extremely pleased and feel that the slip cover was great value for the cost. Also, just an extra plug here: using Urban Castle is supporting a family owned business. Paul brought his charming teenage son along for both the fitting and then subsequent dressing of the sofa (he was off school for summer break) - you can tell these are people who really care about their craft; this is a learned, skilled trade being passed down from parent to child. I highly recommend Urban Castle -- great craftsmen, competent businesspeople and genuinely kind people. Working with Paul & Grant to select a new fabric and reupholster my wing chair was about as easy, affordable and gratifying as I could hope for in picking a vendor out of the blue via Yelp reviews (the reviews were spot on!). It was easy to communicate via email and get my questions answered. The fabric I chose from their selection (but I could've provided a fabric from elsewhere) was delivered fairly quickly (~7-10 days) and scheduling a pick up of my chair was easy and done promptly. It took about 3 weeks from pick up to delivery, which was consistent with what my expectations were. Finally, the finished product is gorgeous -- very high quality. It was obvious a great deal of care and attention to detail was given to my piece. And the price for the fabric and the upholstering were quite reasonable - it made reupholstering vs. shopping for a new chair a no-brainer.
