In Ajax, at this plaza with a bunch of box stores, the Winners and HomeSense stores are diagonally across from each other. We dropped by on a Monday, the day after New Year's Day, in the afternoon. It wasn't packed, but there were several shoppers when we dropped by. It was weird seeing Valentine's Day merchandise. I've been so used to seeing Christmas items for months that this transition took some time. I did love the pink and red gnomes. My friend was looking for a side table that she could place next to her bed. There were many to choose from, but the size wasn't what she was looking for. I suggested that she hit a Kitchen Plus Stuff store that might have the size that she's looking for. We browsed around. I liked looking at kitchen gadgets. I found the shiniest can opener and ice cream scoop. They matched in colour! I also enjoyed looking at the snacks, from vegan gummies, to Laura Secord chocolate bars. Yum! My friend found a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle that she liked. She scooped it up without any hesitation. It was cool that I didn't buy a thing and she did. Normally, it's the reverse. Then again, I had done some damage at Winners and she didn't. We were even. The woman at the cashier was nice. The jigsaw puzzle was $5.75 with tax. She paid with cash and change. It was such a throwback to me. I rarely have cash on me, especially during this pandemic. My friend was extremely happy with her purchase. I was happy that she found a good deal. (7)

Every area had been taken over - the home decor, kitchen supplies, and even the pillows and artwork. You have to look carefully at each of the items. Browsing the mugs, there were little chips or poor printing. This theme kind of followed throughout the store where there were little defects on different items throughout the store. I was impressed that they had some officially licensed items that were Disney and Peanuts. They have a ton of checkouts so even though the line is pretty long, it moves decently fast. Also, the line snakes through a bunch of shelves so it isn't too boring when you're moving through.

I liked that it had a 3-prong plug compared to Toshiba's original 2-prong plug. After 7 months the power supply works perfectly, if anything it runs cooler than the original. For the budget price and the convenience of immediate pickup in my area (versus shipping from an online seller ) I'm very satisfied with what I got. I already have a go-to source for computer repair (Unitak) but if I need parts or accessories this will be my first stop from now on. Razzaks is a long time Flemingdon Park staple selling computers & cell phones as well as parts, accessories and repairs. I remember it starting about 20 years ago as fledgling computer & phone unlocking place that advertised on Craigslist and sold a mostly second hand stuff. The store has really grown up over the years and thriving all this time in a high-turnover plaza it seems their prosperity was likely built dependable products, competent repairs and customer service.

Descriptions like "rustic" or "country living" make me uneasy. Fortunately, Urban Barn is decidedly modern, free of farmyard smells, and boasts great customer service. A knowledgeable and experienced staff member, Helen, helped us navigate the mysterious and unstable world of sofa choices. Who knew there were so many details to consider in the purchase process? Helen at Urban Barn does. She's mastered an expert line of questioning that can lead you from couch confusion to confidence. Arm height, length, tufted or non-tufted, leather or textile, pet/child friendly, budget conscious, straight-backed or tilted, and level of cushioning support...you'll need to consider these aspects (and a few more) before narrowing down your choices. On the top floor there's a Marshalls / Homesense big box store. I noticed the Zara store has been renovated and now occupying 2 levels. The store looks immaculate and love the modern layout and self serve checkout kiosks to make shopping faster for DIY people. I managed to do some shopping at H&M and got some great deals in the sale section. I also bought some groceries like green beans, lychee, bbq pork buns, and curry beef pastries. It's not very often you can go to regional mall and be able to buy clothes, groceries, and bakery goods. It was a pleasant experience. I look forward to the transformation of the vacant Hudson Bay space. Oh did I mention they have a Playdium arcade in the old Sportchek space beside the Cineplex theatre.
