Angel and guys repaired ~90 slate tiles for our roof, inspected and sealed gutters, cleaned two downspouts, and repaired a bad water flow area (added downspout and replaced fascia wood). Angel said he had been with the company for more than 30 years and it showed. He sure knows a lot about roofs and gave me honest recommendations. He told me the roof still had good life especially after repair, while another roofer wanted me to reroof entirely. He also gave me plenty of useful maintenance tips. The office took some time to find a good slate tile match. The tiles they found fit perfectly onto the roof. The new tiles can barely be distinguished. If I were to speak of any improvement, the replaced fascia and downspout weren't color matched with the rest of the house. I wasn't told this when I signed up for the work. Angel told me this was standard practice. He would've painted it if I had the paint but they don't do color match. Something to keep in mind of for the future but I felt it'd be harsh to take off a star from the review for this. I noticed a single tile was missed during the repair. One of their guys came over the next day and fixed it. It was an expensive repair but price was on the fair price end. Urbach roofing wasn't the lowest bid. Someone from my neighborhood recommended them so we gave them the job. Overall we're happy with the result and feel assured that we have a trusted roofer now. read more

DONT USE THEM! I thought I had updated this review, but after the first few hiccups with the roof. I had 2 leaks in different areas of my house that damaged my ceiling. One was where they put new flushing but not tight enough so water got underneath causing about 1000 worth in damage and then about 2 months later the roof that is brand new over our garage b started leaking through our garage and caused the ceiling of garage to deteriorate. I called and they came out and "fixed" it. I had to leave but when I came home the way they fixed it was just pouring tar over all of it and it looks awful since it was dripping down the front of the flushing. I should mention the spot where it was leaking was the spot that I was concerned about in my first post and they said it was fine that tar was melting off my roof and down my house. The tar melting was coming from u set my roof and causing it to break down. WOULD NEVER USE AGAIN. I would have hired a lawyer for damages since that was a softly estimate to fix but I would spend more effort and money and do not want them to repair anything of mine again. Have known Urbach Roofing for twenty years, and when I was working in the home remodeling industry, referred this company to many of my clients. All referrals came back glowing which was awesome and allowed me to really trust in their work and business. When we purchased our home 16 years ago, we had a standard home inspection and the roof was in good condition. Our home at that time was 16 years old. As the years went by, we did have Urbach out to evaluate the roof to make sure it remained in good condition. Over those years, there were a couple of minor repairs and the conversation was had that at some point, we would likely need a re-roof. Not surprising. Fast forward to Feb 2020 and our home now 30 years old, it was time to sit down and begin evaluating companies and bids for re-roofing. Urbach Roofing was certainly at the top of the list. But we are homeowners and recognize having multiple bids is critical. We had four companies in total, including Urbach, provide estimates, timing, and all the information to make a good decision. Then COVID19 happened and we panicked and stopped because spending money at that time, not knowing what would be happening, freaked us out. In spring of 2021, we decided that it was time and we needed to re-evaluate the estimates. One team, the lowest estimate, worked for a roofing company during the week and did their own work on the weekends. This allowed them to underbid not only their employer, but other roofing companies. But they had no insurance, no work comp, no business license and no warranty. Granted they did the work everyday at work. But I don't think that type of operation is fair and I just knew that somehow it would not work out for us. One quote came in just below Urbach and another higher. I'm sure those other companies were good, but I ultimately selected Urbach because I KNOW they are good and their quote was solid based upon our vetting. We scheduled the re-roof for June. Funny, after booking the date, we had a rain storm and our rook leaked slightly in the guest room. Like our house agreed the work needed to be done. Lol. Called Urbach and they were out quickly, made the repairs and because we had our work scheduled, no charge. Phew. Thank goodness. June arrives. We get the call reminding us of our work and instructions for preparation. The Crew arrived and set up and they got to it. This was a lift and relay re-roof. We did not replace the existing tile because that would be astronomical and our current tile, although weathered, is still in great shape. We did opt for the upgraded underlayment. We anticipated wood needing to be replaced and made the necessary mental adjustments to the original estimate accordingly. In all of this, we also had Urbach install a SolaTube in our hallway, as well as remove and replace all our existing gutters and downspouts. The gutter work was completed by A1, but everything was coordinated through Urbach so it worked with the scope of roofing and timing. Our fireplace chimney cover, 31 years old, had completely rusted and was also needing to be replaced. It was non functional and when it rained, water was infiltrating our chimney. Of course, we didn't know that because we couldn't see the chimney cover other than from the ground. But once on the roof, we could see it was just destroyed. Thankfully, Urbach was able to to provide a quote prior to the work. I called our chimney sweep company and another fireplace company for quotes. Urbach was the lowest price, which I didn't expect honestly. They said it would be a couple of weeks for that item because it wasn't something they did in-house. Cool with us. Lo and behold, they were able to get one sooner and they got it installed on the last day of work. Exceptional. Urbach Roofing completed this reroof, with upgraded underlayment, new bird stop, new vents, with city permits, all in the original timeframe. We did go over the original estimate but the majority of that is because I personally added on to the job. The other overruns were identified as line items in the original estimate because until the roof is peeled back, you don't know what to expect for damage and replacement. In our case, that was minimal and those add ons had been realistically anticipated in advance. We strongly recommend Urbach Roofing. They have been awesome to work with and have been great in all of the services they provide. Roger would be incredibly proud of his family for keeping this business going in the same way he ran it for decades. His daughters are operating this with long time employees and a team that believes in delivering the same quality to every client. read more

Eventually the job was completed satisfactorily just be aware that it will take lots of emails, time, and frustration to get to the end of the road. Customer support is terrible. Appointments missed. Clean up was poor. Inspector had a terrible attitude like we were wasting his time. Lots of finger pointing and excuses and blaming us for either not understanding, or trying to convince us the work was actually good. As I said eventually everything was completed, just a long and frustrating process and it took a lot of patience. I would not recommend Urbach Roofing unless you understand these issues. read more

Urbach did an awesome job with our project! We had the original roof for over30 years and we noticed some leaks starting to happen from within the house. I researched over 10 companies and called and got quotes from all 10. Urbach was fast and professional. We did have to reschedule and wait out the recent rain we had here a few weeks ago but when the time came, Mateo and his crew showed up. They were on time every morning and were very respectful of the property by cleaning after themselves each day. Mateo kept me informed of some of the changes we needed to make in regards to wood that needed to be replaced etc. Overall, my experience with them was great. Urbach Roofing came out to "seal" a leak in my roof. This is their patchwork. Stay away from this company if you can. I had to deal with them because my home warranty company only used them unfortunately. I tried to get them to come back and give me an accurate estimate to fix it correctly and they claimed they sealed it but are happy to come back and give an additional estimate but there would be another $75 service fee to come out. I had already paid the home warranty a $75 service fee and Urbach had already charged the home warranty company $110 which was taken out of my claim reimbursement. Urbach was recommended by a gc that could not do the work. I got 4 quotes, all within 500$ of each other for 12k$ job. Urbach immediately distinguished themselves with an incredibly thorough inspection and identified roof ventilation requirements that left unfixed, could potentially invalidate the roof's manufacturer's warranty. It was only a 200$ fix to ensure the warranty. The sales rep set up a 1 hour zoom meeting to go over the work proposal that included different price points for different roofing systems. Exceptional detail so I knew exactly what I was getting. The demo crew left my place cleaner than they found it, the sales rep and PM were all responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Urbach roofing originally installed a new roof on my home in 2003, and did an outstanding job with excellent follow up. Now, 20 years later as I made plans to install solar, the solar company informed me my roof was in poor shape. Since the manufacturer's warranty was for 40 years on the materials, I contacted Urbach, who had my records from 2003, helped me file a claim which resulted in the manufacturer covering the cost of a new roof! Urbach's customer service was outstanding with their constant communication. Stephanie, Amber, Heather, and Angel were incredibly helpful throughout the process, and I can't thank them enough! I highly recommend Urbach Roofing. They put new roofs and gutters on an 8-unit apartment building in La Mesa and a single-family home in Carlsbad. Their bidding was thorough and detailed, offering suggestions on technical matters I wouldn't have been aware of. Their on-site crews were great -- efficient, friendly, responsive to questions I had as work was underway. Overall project management was solid -- always communicated and and kept to schedules. One one job the spec'd underlayment was not available due to supply chain. Urbach upgraded the underlayment at no additonal cost to keep on schedule. They were price competitive among established roofers. I'm sure someone else could have done the work less expensively, but I was after long-term quality and watching Urbach work gave me peace of mind that I got that. read more

Would give a 4.5, if I could. But gave a 4, cause they topped the list of dozens of sub-contractors I have been dealing with the last few years during building a granny flat in Kearny Mesa. The only other contractor out there that compares in customer service, competitive cost, and trade knowledge is ASI Heating & Air, but Urbach doesn't have to worry about that..lol.. I had several quotes from roofing contractors, and Urbach roofing was the only company to bring out brochures and help us better understand what type of products are on the market and what would work best for the new addition. Other roofing contractors seemed biased as to what brand to use, and also seemed to not be willing to use the entire package of materials (vents, underlayment, etc.) from the specific brand, which is required for all warranties. We went with Gap line of products, vs. CertainTeed or Owens Corning. Urbach roofing stood out as a roofing contractor for their customer service, as most other roofing contractors are ok at best. And was bounds above your typical sub-contractor when compared to other trades. Urbach did not talk down to us, no attitude problems, no communication issues, no complaints of other trades, and did not say comments like "we all have mouths to feed" when negotiating a price. Urbach was willing to discuss and update the contract if needed, gave a nice seasonal discount, willing to come onsite for a walk thru, etc. The one thing that I was surprised about, is that when I questioned about appropriate venting for a vaulted ceiling, Urbach seemed thrown off at first, and could not advise on methods of venting. However, they did come back after a few days and advise appropriately. As soffit vents on the overhang in between each joist and a long ridge vent at the peak would be sufficient. read more

I received quotes from a handful of local roofers but pretty much made up my mind within 10 minutes of talking with the sales rep ,Amanda (she, her sister Stephanie and their Mom own/run the company). Her presentation was far and away the best, most professional and easiest to understand of the lot. I was given 3 choices based on quality, extras and warranty and ended up going with the most expensive (which was still less than some of the others). We are very pleased with the job Urbach Roofing did for us. They replaced our composite (asphalt shingle) roof with architectural composite shingles, two layers of quality underlayment, two layers of torch-down material for our flattish dormer, and a drip edge that we never had before. From the salesperson (Amber), the production manager (Stephanie), the superintendent (Mateo) and the other hard workers, including Angel, everybody was super nice and professional.
