Incredible customer service! Very friendly and family oriented. Actually wants you to get the best out of your musical journey.

My children, like many of children in the area, have joined the public school orchestra. They decided on their instruments (which completely matched their personalities) and so we were directed to Uptown Music for rental and other equipment. Emmaly was amazing and took incredible care of me and my boys! The store was very busy, considering it was the weekend after Orchestra Parent night, but she greeted us immediately and was incredibly helpful in finding us what we needed. She sized up my one son immediately, as he played the same instrument she did, but she was quick to realize that my other son wanted to play an instrument that might be in short supply, so she rushed to check on that one first. She happened to get the very last one that was in stock and immediately claimed it for us. She then spent a great deal of time going over the entire instrument, ensuring that we had the right bow, rosin, and that the case fit correctly and had everything in it. She then set us up on the other instrument, and made sure it fit properly. She clearly explained all the rental rules and requirements and how it worked. I will say this; Uptown Music appears committed to keeping people playing music over maximizing overall profit. It's a rent-to-own system, and when a child sizes up out of an instrument, you can bring it back in and have the credit go immediately to the new one. If my children stay with these instruments, I won't have to constantly go back and buy a bigger size while being stuck with lost payments on an old one. I really appreciate that! They also operate on a month-to-month rental agreement, so if it doesn't work out, I'm not stuck with a long term contract. Music books were ready available, and despite the fact that all the schools in the area were starting up orchestra, they put $30 music stands on sale for $20. I had to drop some money to get my kids set up for this, but it could have been A LOT more. Then, because of all the confusion, there was a small error in the initial payment on the rental agreement. Emmaly gave us a call and the store was super accommodating in giving us time to get back in and catch up on the payment. I visited Uptown Music years and years ago, over eleven I'd have to say, and took some piano lessons here to try and build on what I learned as a kid. Going back with my kids now was a great experience, and made me get excited about music all over again. I'm really hoping my kids enjoy playing their instruments. I'd love to keep them playin for years and years. One of my sons is interested in the saxophone, so we're looking at that for a potential future option. If you're in need of musical instruments, I strongly urge you to avoid large national chains and check out this place. I had a great experience and felt very well taken care of! read more

I am vacationing here from Michigan and stopped in at Uptown music. I have been looking for a new acoustic electric guitar. I was greeted with a friendly welcome as soon as I entered the door. I was not hustled but was offered assistance. When I explained what I was looking for I was deferred to a very knowledgeable young man who listened to my request and helped me come to happy decision. I got a great deal on an Eastman acoustic...a great deal. I won't say how much, because it was a blowout, but I saved considerably more than any price I could find on the internet. It's also worth mentioning that Shane was extremely patient as I waffled about what instrument to buy, and repeatedly strummed the same three chords (the only ones I know) on a variety of axes. We took our daughter here for her 15th birthday because she wanted a ukulele (she's the kind of kid that can pick up an instrument and just start playing it). The staff was so helpful and supportive, especially since we knew nothing about buying a ukulele. Wes walked us through all the details, played multiple instruments for us, and helped our daughter choose the best one for her (based on how her eyes lit up when she heard it played). He set us up with everything she needed and never once did we feel pressured. She loves her new ukulele and hasn't stopped playing it since we left the store. I couldn't recommend Uptown Music enough if you're in the market for an instrument! Plus, they let us bring in our puppy and paid him all sorts of attention. :) read more

Im a new guitarist and called to ask about guitar setup, as the guitar I bought seemed to have some strange things going on and I had read that all guitars should be looked at by a professional. I called and they gave me a lot of info over the phone, including price of service and how long it would take. When I got there, they took a look at it right away, treated me as a peer and answered all my questions, and decided it didn't need a full service, just some new strings and maybe some conditioning, which was half the price of the quoted service. Got the guitar back in two days. No sales pressure at all, and super friendly. Also taking Covid very seriously, which I appreciate. There are a lot of good music stores in town but these guys go above and beyond in terms of service and friendliness. Looking forward to talking to them about electric guitars in the near future. I absolutely love Uptown Music!! I have been a musician and frequenter of many a music store for much of my life, and I can honestly say that my experiences at Uptown have been easily some of the very best I've ever had. The first time I went in it was to look at a semi-hollow Eastman electric guitar that was listed at roughly $2,200. Even though I was taken with that guitar right away, Ian the salesman cheerfully spent the next 2 hours with me, recommending other less expensive Eastmans to compare it to and acting as a great unbiased sounding board. I wound up settling on a much less expensive option than the one I had originally come in to play, largely due to the support of Ian who agreed that it seemed to be the better fit for me. A different salesman could have easily pushed the expensive option on me, but that was not my experience at Uptown- Ian and ALL the other staff there were clearly more interested in satisfying their costumers than they were in making the biggest sale possible. As if that wasn't enough, they proceeded to get me a GREAT discount on the guitar I bought- no other store or online distributor could match their price. A while later I returned and had a similar experience, and wound up getting an even BETTER discount on a great Taylor acoustic guitar! I have been around the block and I'm telling you, these are the best deals I've found on new gear, and the service is absolutely unbeatable. read more
