I highly recommend this company and this location specifically. I have a Dyson vacuum which I have used at least once a week for 12 years. I have used it for a variety of things which included cleaning up after each day of remodeling ( I know, I cringe a little when I think about that too). I have never cleaned it or tuned it up beyond cutting hair off the roller head, emptying the collection bin, and cleaning the two filters bi-annually. It had a puncture in a base hose which needed to be replaced and luckily they had the part in house. I was able to drop it off the same day that I called to make an appointment, which was not necessary. The gentleman that answered was very friendly and professional. When I dropped it off, I got an estimate of approximately 5 to 7 days before I could pick it up. But they called in less than 24 hours saying that the job was done. It looks like a brand new vacuum! Every gasket has been wiped, damaged hose replaced, even the cord was wiped down. Which to be honest I didn't even know it was dirty to begin with. read more

I decided to write a review because I saw some really negative comments on here about this place. I read them and still decided to go anyway because supporting local small businesses betters our towns local economy! I am sure glad I did! They were definitely not "Dutch bros peppy" nor did they have the "car sales men tell ya what you want to hear vibes" either. They were straight up and gave me the information I needed. They matched competitors pricing with a handshake and were happy to earn my business. I think customer service is important and I feel like they did just fine. Yikes! So glad I didn't read the other reviews before I stopped in to see them! I found all the employees there to be friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I had been shopping around for a vacuum after purchasing a deep pile super soft carpet only to discover my old vacuum wouldn't work on it. I called and visited many places in the Salem and Portland area and Vacuum World not only had the best deal, they let me take a vacuum home over the weekend to try it out. Who else does that? We took our Hoover to a place downtown and they wanted $100 plus labor to fix it, and they were just guessing. So we went to Vacuum World. They were friendly, courteous, and said they'd check it over and give us a call. Turned out to be a worn belt. $40. Even helped us out to the car with it. We got it back in less then an hour. If there was a sixth star, we would give it to them. read more

So I am an idiot when it comes to machines. I thought my new Kirby was broken but I came in here and they helped!!!! For whatever reason I am not able to put my Kirby together right, the man in there, somewhat larger, took the time to tell me the right way to do it. He didn't have to go into a extra class of what to do, he could of just fixed it and gave it back, but NO, he took the time to explain everything. I highly recommend this place! read more

My husband went to this business to get a belt for our carpet cleaner. The employee was snotty when my husband told him this was not the right belt. He insisted it was so my husband brought it home. When he tried putting it on the carpet cleaner a piece broke on the carpet cleaner due to the wrong belt being used. We went back and the employee would only say to file a warranty form out that it may be under warranty. My husband told him that it was over 2 years old and they said to file it any way. This is not right. Come to find out the OWNER was there and agreed to all of this. They do not carry the part that we need either. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYONE...EVER!!! read more

Our canister vacuum cleaner hose was in need of repair but was told by Vacuum world that it was unrepairable, but they had one in stock. After getting home we tried the new hose assembly and it wasn't working. I retrieved the old hose from the garbage and verified that it worked and took the everything back in. After several days our expensive old vacuum was repaired at no additional cost to us. They could have given up on our old simplicity vacuum but went as far as to change out the motherboard in order to fix the vacuum ! I have done business with this place a couple of times and I feel they don't care about the customer. Their hours are NOT good at all but to make it worse they close BEFORE the time the say they close. After taking an hour off work to drop off my shampooer to be fixed I get there right at 5:30pm just to find they left before their posted time of 5:30pm. Then I asked them to make it right by coming to my work and picking it up to be fixed but they would't do that only saying if I had called and let them know I was coming they would have waited for me. What! Why on earth would I call when I was there at 5:30 not after 5:30? So I lost an hour of pay plus a 30 min drive through downtown Salem. I will be going to Portland from now on. read more

Vacuum World is a small somewhat cluttered mom and pop store that is always busy and with good reason. Their service and sales is top notch and they try to give you what you have asked for. If you are shopping they understand that and there is no pressure which is very nice in this dog eat dog world. Over the years we have discovered that it is better to shop there in the morning and mid-week when they are not quite as busy. During that time we have bought 3 vacuums and a rug cleaner and all are working just great. The first one is much heavier than the new ones, but we use it for cleaning the cars. The second one we gave to the granddaughter and the last one is a light weight with lot of suction. Hopefully this place never goes out of business. read more

Very unprofessional people to do business with. Denied completing an Oreck vacuum tune-up that is cover under warranty. Would not contact Oreck customer service for assistance. Will never recommend any of my friends to do business with this establishment. read more
