I would have given this store 5 stars if I were greeted when I first walked in. As you walk in to the left was a table of fabric that was on sale so I checked that out first. The lady behind the counter was on the phone. After she hung up I was still browsing through the sale fabric. She didn't acknowledge me at all even though we were about 3 feet apart. They have a wonderful selection of quilting fabric. I was impressed by how much fabric there was at a sewing & vacuum store. There's also notions and some quilting books. The other woman working there wasn't friendly either. Even when I brought up my fabric to be cut, I got a chilly reception from the first lady by the front door. read more

Amazing fabric selection, tons of high quality quilting fabrics and batiks! 5 stars on that! Super helpful young man who wore mask as usual but many other people in long arm section not only NOT in masks but one employee actually putting customers on the spot by asking them if they minded if he didn't wear a mask! He didn't ask me, and if I hadn't needed the things I purchased so badly I would have walked out. Clearly only part of the staff takes Covid-19 seriously and doesn't care about us quilters and many of us are in a very high risk group! read more

This is an updated review as I had previously given this business a 2 star rating. My friend and I went back to Paramount to look for a specific fabric as even though our previous experience was lacking, they do have a large selection of batiks and solids. This time was different. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and offered assistance and asked if there was anything in particular we were looking for. My friend and I were shocked. We declined help but when I was standing by the long armer, a gentleman began to explain the process to me and even got me a card of a local long armer. Checkout was equally pleasant and the young man helping us asked us if we had found what we needed and gave us the quilt hop brochure. This experience was so positive that I will definitely come back for my quilting needs and I live a 1/2 hour away. Good job getting rid of the grumpy employees who very easily could have ruined this business. We will be back read more

I took my 35 - 40 year old machine in for repair, but after learning the price of a tune-up, I thought maybe a new one might be a better option. The friendly gentleman behind the counter gladly showed me a variety of machines in my price range. I opted to upgrade to an electronic Brother machine after he showed me the cute 'Heart' stitch. You also receive a 15% discount on supplies plus regular servicing of your machine for 3 years. There is a fun Quilting Bee event too. I would recommend them based on my experience. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER! I went in to ask some questions about my sewing machine & the older lady behind the counter was short with me & VERY condescending! Now, I believe she decided in her head that I was too young to know what I was talking/asking about- & I guess decided I wasn't worth her time. (I WORKED BEHIND A SEWING COUNTER FOR 4 YEARS). I will never waste my time at Paramount again! I was reluctant to try this place because of the reviews but didn't have any other options nearby. I was really happy with the service I got and the store in general. I walked in with my sewing machine and I was helped immediately. I was having trouble with my thread sticking in my machine and becoming a big tangle. Winifred set up my machine and gave it a try. She then told me I was using the wrong bobbins and showed me the correct ones. I picked up some other supplies and was done in about 10 minutes. I'll definitely go back again and I'm excited to try some of the classes they have. The guys here are great. The cranky lady who cuts the fabric isn't. She has come up on more than one FB page and so many others say the same thing. She is cranky. Paramount is one of the last places I shop because she takes the fun out of shopping for fabric. I mentioned this to one of the guys there and he said she will give you the shirt off her back. I don't want her shirt. I don't need her to be my BFF. I just want her to be reasonable pleasant cutting my fabric. Oh and don't even mention cats as she will make it clear she doesn't like them and she absolutely does not want to hear anything about a quilt you're excited to be making for an auction to benefit rescue cats. If I could give 10 stars to Paramount I would!! My husband was referred to Paramount when he was looking to take in my old sewing machine for a tune-up. I was having so much trouble and I tried to adjust it myself but it still wasn't sewing correctly so I was convinced it needed a tune-up. My husband got me my Brothers sewing machine about 22 years ago and it has been a good machine and I have used it so much over the years. So my husband took my machine into Paramount who said it would cost about 99.00 and so about a day later we get a call that it was ready!! I was so excited to get my sewing machine back because I had a new project ready for it. When we went to pick it up they said we owed $2.99 I thought maybe it was to far gone but no that wasn't it.....that was the cost of the metal bobbins that I needed to use instead of the plastic bobbins that I had been using. OMG!!! It is so nice to do business with honest and trustworthy people. I was blown away, they could have rightly charged me because after all they looked at my machine and made adjustments. That was such a nice and refreshing surprise!!! Thank you Paramount!!! If yelp allowed me to, I would've put zero stars. I have never had worse customer service in my life. I went in because I was having trouble threading my machine and it wouldn't sew. Firstly, as I walked in, I wasn't greeted, the two workers just stared at me impatiently waiting for me to speak, and it instantly felt as though I was a nuisance rather than a customer. Then, as the woman was examining my machine, she hardly even acknowledged me or clued me in to what was wrong with my machine. She didn't even bother look at me when she asked me questions, and I felt super ostracized. She and her associate only talked to each other while looking at my machine and made condescending remarks about me getting the machine second-hand. As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I know that you are supposed to make your customer feel valued and welcome, and you're supposed to do your best to explain and solve their problems and be open to any questions that they have. These two associates were super condescending, short, and judgmental. In fact, the woman was fully sneering and I watched her physically try not to laugh at my dilemma. Considering they are a repair shop, one would think that they would make an effort to suggest repair or replacement options, but they didn't even do that. They gave me the most nugatory description of what the issue was, and I left not even knowing what exactly was wrong with my machine should I want to take it to get repaired somewhere else. I left feeling both disheartened from their patronizing, and frustrated that I wasted my time from such a fruitless experience. TLDR: The workers were terribly patronizing and unfriendly, if you want to be treated with respect and get helpful service, this place is not worth your time or your money. read more

I have done business with the River Rd store for years. I have purchased a vacuum many years ago and it was of sound quality, did a good job, and it lasted for a very long time. I am searching for a new vacuum now and heading to that store again today to make another Purchase. They are terrific people to do business with. I have also taken vacuums there for and overhaul, cleaning, etc and when I picked said vacuum up was surprised; it looked brand new! They went above and beyond for me over the phone! I needing a walking foot for my brothers sewing machine. Being new to sewing I didn't know what one I needed. The guy on the phone looked it up and told me but said they didn't have any in stock. But he asked me to hold to make sure and he looked in 3 different places for me! read more
